I'm finally cutting my losses and purchasing new boots - not Salomon boots. The ankle support is basically nonexistent. I had such difficulty getting these shoes tight with the laces provided that I replaced the laces and tried to make them work this way. Unfortunately, when you get these boots tight enough to actually provide some semblance of ankle support, the circulation in your feet gets cut off. I've had to choose mid-hike to sacrifice ankle support for circulation. These boots overall lend themselves to awful hiking experiences. Save your money and buy a more comfortable pair elsewhere.

Don't bother with these boots. The material above the ankles are useless and bulky. The laces are long and are a tripping hazard no matter how you tie them. The tongue is very large and bunches up creating pinch points but somehow doesn't offer any coverage from debris getting into the boot.

The X Ultra 2 was my go-to for long distance hiking for 5+ yrs. I thru-hiked the AT, no breakin, no blisters, super comfort, etc. Just wore thru my last spare pair & bought these. The X Ultra 3 is a TOTALLY different boot: Stiff, uncomfortable, not as breathable, fits different, even with breakin time, I got blisters. HATE this shoe. PLS bring back the Ultra 2 design. It was the bomb for LD hikers.

I took these shoes on a couple of hikes, but when I was in Yosemite last year these shoes These shoes really let me down, especially when I took it to Yosemite last year. Half way through my hike I started getting blisters on the back of my foot. It was really hard for me to continue the rest of my hike. Before this I have took it on small short hikes to try to break them in. But ultimately I bought these shoes for long hikes and 4 miles in i don't want to be struggling to finish the rest of my hike. I made it thorugh 14 miles but it was very painful, my feet were bleeding by the end.

I was bought these boots in Feb as a birthday present. They haven't had a huge amount of wear. I wore them out on saturday. Walked through wet fields, it wasn't raining and they let water in only at my toes. Socks were soaked at the end. So disappointing. Original retail incredibly unhelpful and have apparently sent to yourself to be tested. I am now without a pair of boots for a month despite clearly being faulty. Ridiculous and very disappointed!
