First pair of Salomons, a narrower fitting shoe, no removable insole but very comfortable and more cushioning than some higher priced options with removable insoles. Light weight shoe with good traction and good toe protection. Seems to provide at least some water resistance. Purchased at a sale price of +/-$130, at this price definitely a good purchase. No issues so far.

I bought my first pair about a year ago and wear them five days a week for work. I hike between 10 and 30 miles a week and have used the same pair everyday. They were very comfortable out of the box.
I have used these boots on flat ground, up mountain trails and side hilling in the mountains and they held up well.
Water resistance is also great.
I'm not a fan of the laces as they occassionally come untied when walking through grass or undergrowth, but I will definitely be buying another pair or two when these wear out.

I've had the same pair since 2017 and brought them to Afghanistan where I wore them almost daily for 9 months there. Now I wear them in the Great Plains/Midwest as my main winter boot to keep my feet dry, only switching to a different one when I need added insulation. I actually look forward to the day these boots die on me so I can get another pair, whenever that may be.

I have owned a pair of the for a little over two years now and am very impressed with the features and value of these boots. I bought the Ultra 3 mid GTX boots after buying the heavier duty 4d GTX boots and feeling the 4D's were too bulky and stiff, ordered a pair of the 3's. These are worth every penny. I never use the 4Ds any more and wore the 3's almost every single day from 6-10 hours per day. Anything from retail saleperson work on hard floors to landscaping jobs on the side. They are just now starting to show their age and getting holes in the fabric at the corner. I am ordering two more pair, one for nice stuff and one for tougher work and outdoor play. These boots are flexible enough to be comfortable over a variety of terrain, yet supportive and comfortable. I used these as hunting boots in archery and rifle season as well. Warm in cooler weather yet cool and dry in hot weather. Didnt get waterlogged while weedeating ditches and best of all, they are much lighterweight than leather loggers boots! Amazing all around boot. I havent found anything to beat it. Buy a pair and try them, I promise you'll be glad you did!

I am ecstatic with my Zappos purchase!! I went hiking with my new Salomon shoes right out of the box for 6 miles and my feet felt amazing. I even felt like hiking an extra 2 miles at the end of my workout. I couldn't be happier. Next I will buy my running shoes from Zappos.

I normally don't buy shoes online because of my finicky feet (narrow with boney heels), but these boots are great! After a short (~10 miles) break-in period, these mountain goats are rockin'. Lightweight and comfortable. Wish they were slightly more breathable, but the mid-ankle waterproofing is excellent. Great grip on all types of surfaces and really like the solid toe box.

I?ve had these X Ultra 3 Mid GTX for over 2 years and put them through miserable conditions. I have used them on numerous trails throughout N.C. and I have also used them for tactical operations for law enforcement. These shoes have stood up to everything I?ve thrown at them. The goretex lining keeps my feet dry, but surprisingly, my feet aren?t baking on hot days. I purchased a pair of Merell mid GTX tactical boots similar to these and they are super stiff and cook my feet in the summer. These Salomon hiking shoes are somehow the perfect balance between rugged durability and long-lasting comfort. The contagrip grabs onto smooth concrete, snow, mud, dirt and any wet surface. The inner liner doesn?t retain odors either which is a plus when you?re using them a lot. They also dry very fast. The size was true to size for my size 9 ( I have a skinny foot but they carry a wide). I highly recommend them.

These are my best boots for short hikes, runs, and urban walks. I have tricky ankles, and these have been my replacement for running shoes since there is good ankle support. Been using these for years and they are great.

I am very happy I purchased my pair of X-Ultra 3 Mid GTX! They support my feet perfectly without feeling heavy. They allow for excellent circulation and keep my feet free of fatigue during long days on my feet. Incredibly well engineered footwear.

I've owned these boots for about a month and have made good use of them, I've taken them to Snowdonia, the Chilterns and through some very wet and muddy fields. They have proved to be very comfortable, have provided good grip over wet stones and, even though they are a 'Mid boot', they have given good support to my ankles.

I wear the "wide" version as the regular is too narrow in the toe box for me. I GPS all of my routes, and am getting between 500 and 700 miles per pair. The limiting factor for mileage is wear of the tread, but most of the damage I cause is done on the approach over tarmac and concrete as it's several miles from my doorstep to off-road terrain. The mileage I get considering the tarmac they have to put up with is actually very good.
I hike in them all seasons and in any weather, and over a variety of terrains over the Pennines and the Scottish Highlands. The tread sheds mud very well, so your next step always has optimum grip. And the grip itself is superb on all but the greasiest surfaces that nothing but felt or crampons could cure.
Temperature regulation in all seasons is superb, easily managed with quality socks. Waterproofing is also superb. The boots are lightweight and so won't add any noticeable fatigue on the longest hikes, and the build quality is everything you'd expect from Salomon. I've never had a popped seam or frayed stitch. And last but not least, comfort is 10/10. The sole is stiff enough to prevent jaggies digging into your foot, but compliant enough to give great comfort and sure-footing. I wouldn't call the sole soft or squishy in any way, but they're right where you need them to be for distance and comfort. The boots would continue to provide comfort long after the 30 mile mark, which tends to be when the rest of my body gives up. A truly great boot.

The wide fit is excellent. Seems to be a lot of good traction and they stay dry. I would definitely buy these again.

This is the 2nd Pair of X ultra's, 3rd pair of Salomon's. Love their boots, Stand up to everyday life, good traction on snow and ice, (North Dakota Winters) comfortable after they are broke in, takes a few days.
