I love these shoes. I had tried the Adidas Outdoor GTX and it was too narrow for my foot. This shoe is not only comfortable but looks great; I've had many people compliment me on how they looked. And as far as waterproof, I used them last week in Chicago and had no issues...but then I wasn't hopping into puddles of water...

I bought these on a whim because I desperately needed waterproof shoes for a weekend in the rain and mud. I spent at least 36 hours in these shoes, either walking or standing around. They were great! Good fit, waterproof as expected, and didn't tire my feet out. When I bought them I was also surprised how light-weight they were. This was the first TNF product I've bought in a long time as I had been hesitant about their quality. I'm now thinking about purchasing this shoe in the mid version.

Fit perfect and were very comfortable to wear. We hiked for 4 hours thru water and rock trails. My feet stayed dry the whole hike to the falls. My feet felt great. Awesome Shoes!!!

They are a little big I feel for their size, my size 11 was longer than a Nike 11 1/2 for some reason. Otherwise they are perfect, a lot of compliments on them the first time I wore them.

I bought these shoes on a website recommendation from another pair of North Face shoes I bought. Well they were right, great shoe. Very comfortable, stylish, light weight breathable and waterproof. With a super grippy tread I'm looking forward for years to come of this amazing shoe. Once again I love these.

I bought these specifically for a trip to Peru. They were amazing. I am a women's size 8.5 and I bought a men's size 7. They kept my feet dry, stable and comfortable the entire trip. I hiked and walked endless miles of cobblestone streets. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great footwear. They were also stylish.

Bought these for hiking Mt. Whitney at the end of July '18 as a lighter alternative to my usual full leather boots. What a revelation! Super light and comfortable yet still protects from rocks and roots. You do feel more than a full leather boot but much less than a running shoe. I went up the "stairs" near Trailside Meadows with plenty of water flowing down them. Water easily went up to the cuff but feet stayed dry! You could see the water bead up after that section and not absorb into the material. There's a lot of cushioning in the shoe to make getting back down less painful on the knees. Used these for training hikes on Baldy, San Jacinto, Gorgonio and San Bernadino and they the tread has held up well. They are also very easy to clean with just water.

The Ultra Fastpack III GTX is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great shoe for everyday wear or for hitting the trail! The stylish design and all-day comfort make these my preferred shoe when I'm headed into the woods for a run with my 4-legged training buddies. They provide ample support and stability while remaining comfortable enough to blaze the trails for hours at a time, and the lugs provide plenty of traction when the morning dew is still covering the ground or the weather decides not to cooperate.

This is my second pair. North Face is now my go-to for shoes, great for my long-term foot/ankle/back problems. They give excellent lateral support for pronation, good arch support but not too high, and good grip/tread for hiking. They're my every day shoes in the Pacific NW and travel hikers. Yes they're hot, but the support and waterproofing are so good that's a small price to pay. I'm a woman who buys men's shoes because I need the wider width to fit my orthotics and provide enough lateral stability. Wish their colors weren't so gendered. Still, these are great shoes!

As a long-time buyer of NF footwear for hiking and backpacking, the GTX 109 and Endurus models have been solid chassis for my adventures but the Fastpack III has already shown very encouraging promise after 50 miles on the trail. The Vibram sole should hopefully solve some of the durability challenges I consistently had with the 109s while the stout toe box and general construction of the shoe is a notable improvement from the Endurus. Very comfortable and waterproof (as advertised), the NF receives a "job well done" for this new offering.

I have used the shoes on two day hikes so far and they have been great. They have no sing of wear. They feel like your whereing sneakers with a thick sole. The vibriam sole is great it's grippy and though. I love them and the gortex is great for breathability and waterproof. Go true to size

Great shoes, hiking through Europe and they have taken everything with minimal issues. Didn't even need to break them in, they were so comfy the first time I put them on and walked a few miles. Colors are slightly different in the blue version, the grays are a little off. Greasy traction, no slipping.

I wore these for the past few weeks including a trip across Portugal. While there, I did some serious walking, including steep hills. These shoes held up well and felt fairly lightweight.
I purchased 1 size larger than my normal shoe size (I have wide feet). I would like North Face to make a wide version.

The Ultra Fastpack III is a great upgrade from other low cut hiking shoes by North Face. They are very lightweight and extremely comfortable to wear even on longer tours, hikes or just leisure activities.
However, even though they look very breathable, you should not expect a "running shoe", as they are fairly sturdy, stable and very waterproof. It is a proper hiking shoe that is extremely lightweight. If you are looking for a light summer shoe but are not using it on mountain tracks or for longer hikes, you are better off looking for a less tight model.
