This a great size back pack that is lightweight and is great as a carry on. It's comfortable and fits more than you think. I'm very happy with the purchase!

I love this bag, it is the perfect size and keeps everything organized. I often travel with my bags on a Thule rack and have traveled through storms all the while my belongings staying nice and dry in this bag. I would recommend it for anyone.

Useful for my monthly weekend getaway trips. Small enough to be compact; yet, large enough to contain the necessities and more.

Excellent product. Used once for weekend travel to the beach so I can not attest to durability. However, everything I needed and more was able to fit. I received compliments from the people I was travelling with and they are even considering purchasing this bag.

I have searched long and hard for a perfectly sized bag for daily use as well as an overnight getaway. The XS BaseCamp Duffle is exactly what I needed. The look represents my active outdoor lifestyle, the durability assures that it will last and the design makes it as easy to pack up and get to whatever it is you need on the go. I love it!

I bought the xs because I fly an airline that is really cheap but charges for everything, including carry on luggage. You can carry on a personal item for free but it has to fit under the seat in front of you. This little bag fits perfectly and holds enough for a good long weekend.

Got this bag 2 years ago. My absolute favorite for short city trips, that are not longer than 3 days - I'm a girl and need my stuff ;)

I'm usually a minimalist. But there are a few adventures left in the world where light is too light. When your bag has to be tied to a yak for a few days or dragged out of a huge pile of gear on the airport tarmac, something like this duffel -- tough, durable, heavy, nearly indistructable -- is the only thing that is likely to survive without a split seam or rip. I've owned the old and new designs and -- to join in the current debate -- I like the new one better. Those carry handles in the old version? Perfect for hitting you in the back in backpack mode. But how can you haul the new version by hand? Use the handles on the side. They work better because the whole bag is closer to your body in that orientation. To each his own, but to me new is an improvement. Are they perfect? Nope. They're not fully waterproof. Put everything inside in dry bags or trash-compactor bags to be safe. And the compression straps can get caught in airport conveyor belts. Tie them up and out of the way. And since they are somewhat cylindrical they can sometimes roll around a bit in the back of the car (squarer is better there). But they are still tougher than anything else out there. They'll hold most any weight (maybe more than you can carry easily) without splitting. And the smallest two sizes are great carry-on. They've been tested for decades. They pass the test.

No one ever said when they're coming home from a trip, "I wish I brought more stuff!" My wife and I both bought a Base Camp Duffel in the small size to be used on our 2 week trip to Greece. Combining this duffel with packing cubes you'll be amazed with how much space it has! We were able to each bring the duffels on as carry-on luggage on United, Lufthansa, and Aegean at different parts of our trip but knew they were tough enough to check if needed! Highly recommend.

I love this bag! I was afraid a small would be too small, but it's a very decent size bag! I recently went on a weeklong trip and this bag was great! I probably could've packed for 2 weeks! I love that you can carry as a duffel or a backpack. I just wish it came with another strap to carry easily on the shoulders. Using both straps on the shoulders is a little uncomfortable and it shifts a lot off the shoulders. But overall, I love it and would highly recommend!

I am so happy that I purchased this bag, I absolutely love it! I needed something that could transition pretty seamlessly into my work, workout, and personal use. I work from 8-4:30 and vary btw going to the gym before or after work. I've been able to fit my clothes rolled up in a rumble roller, a towel, toiletry bag, travel hair dryer, my Game of Thrones book, lunch bag, and small accessories bag (for my work badge, USB stick, cash, etc) to and from work and the gym. I hang a master lock off one of the daisy chains. I also spend the weekends at my BF's who loved 45 min away, so I've been able to pack a weekend's worth of clothes, toiletries, my laptop, work stuff, and my knitting! There's an inside pocket that I can use for my phone, headphones, and other loose knick-knacks. The outside pocket is pretty small (can't fit an iPhone 6 Plus), so I just use it for my keys. The straps are super comfy. Sometimes they tighten if I accidentally sit on it on the bus, but they're easily re-adjustable, and they never loosen when I'm actually wearing the bag as a backpack. I've also gotten a lot of compliments on the bag! The XS is the perfect size for my needs. My one disclaimer, if you can call it that, is that I'm 5', so as my BF puts it, all my things are small. He's 6'5" and uses the S, which is perfect for his needs. We've both used our bags for airplane travel and they're very durable. When packed to the brim, the XS can still fit in the upper cabinets of the plane if you're using it as your carry-on. It was harder to fit the S, so that was best to be checked.

The bag itself looks sleek. I purchasef the full black duffel. The black doesn't present itself as one of those blacks that make anything look cheap regardless of the price. It's the type of black that hits the "cool kids" spot. The zippers didn't snag. But it was hard to get too if you had the zippers on the sides due to the flaps covering it. It wasn't an issue if the were placed in the middle though. The straps to use as a bagpack was a legit idea. It made the bag so much more convenient. When it was heavy i'd just put it on my back. Of course it was confortable. North face bags are known for being easy on your back. But when I wanted to put thing in the bag the straps were in the way. I had to loosen them to put things inside. And it felt a little weird using them to carry the bag as a shoulder strap. All the daisy chains and handles over the bag are great. I like hooking things on to them. And being able to grab the bag from any side. All in all. If you're thinking about purchasing the bag then stop thinking. Just buy it. If you don't have the dinero then go ask santa or whatever floats your boat.

My daughter went off to camp so we packed her for the week in the Base Camp Duffel- small size. The duffel held everything she needed. She was able to easily carry it like a backpack.

Love this bag. I use it on motorcycle trips. The bag keeps my gear dry and cleans up easily. I own both the small and medium size and would recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic. I tried 3 other backpack strap duffles from 3 other companies, North Face nailed it, the others did not. Design is great. Very comfortable. Looks awesome. And I am willing to bet I could drop this thing down a mountain and it would survive. It's a thing of beauty. Will be using this for years to come and if an airline ever loses it (because this thing is never going to wear out), I would buy another one in a second.
