Shoe pushes you back on heels when you walk. Not a natural feel. Do not recommend.

These are comfortable shoes, if a little tight/stiff all around. They have helped with my plantar fascitis. But it should be noted that the sharp edges in the eyeholes cause the shoelaces to shred, and Altra will not provide replacement shoelaces, despite having a several hundred mile warranty on manufacturing defects. I'd say I'm under 40 miles on these things, they're mostly worn in the house and are about 5-6 months old.

For Heaven's sake Altra, get your act together! Due to my adoration of the Escalante, I bought the Cayd hoping for the benefits of an Altra in a more dressed up format. Unfortunately, the heal has an odd raised ridge that painfully rubs the Achilles tendon. The inconsistency of Altra products is infuriating. A pair of Superior 3.5's had the same effect on my instep due to faulty tongue padding. I love Altra's wide toe box, zero-drop concept, but here again with the Cayd, a faulty design and/or manufacturing defect has rendered an unwearable shoe. Outsourcing and poor quality control: Et tu, Altra?

These shoes look great, but you can't walk a long distance in them without getting blisters. The back of the shoe rubs your heal raw.

I've been wearing Altra for years on the advice of my doctor and I have been a big fan. The Cayd looks nice, but this model doesn't work at all for me. The heel is cut lower than other styles, has virtually no padding, and rubs/blisters my heel when I walk. The rest of the shoe feels a little tight, even though it is the same size of every Altra pair I've had. This was totally unexpected based on my past experiences with Altra. I will be returning these and trying other options. It's also very frustrating that the one pair of Altra's that were the best fitting shoes I've ever worn were discontinued. It's maddening how my favorite Altra models are always dumped after a year or two.

These shoes are not what I had hoped for. They are hot, the toe box is wide but so is the arch area and heel. This resulted in the heel sliding up and down and to make things worse the edge around the back of the shoe is not padded but a sharp ridge which cuts into the back of the heel.

These were nothing like what I expected for my size and the typical width (toe box) of Altra shoes. I returned them immediately.

Far too stiff. The shoes crease into your toes. The ankle is stiffer than a wing tip dress shoe. These are about as far from an altra as you can get. Literally some of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn.

Love my Altra Paradigm 5. Was hoping for same feel. But awful. Stiff. Painful. Already shipped back. Thankfully, shipping back was easy.

Within the first two weeks the rubber sole fell off. I reached out to Altra about it and they responded with a long list of questions. I respond over a week ago with no info back so far. Extremely disappointed in the shoe and customer service at this point.

Comfortable and roomy. Unfortunately, the sole came unglued and detached after only one month of moderate use. Very dissatisfied with the performance considering the price.

I was disappointed when I tried this walking/leisure shoe as it is not designed like any of the Altra's I've worn in the past. The toe box height is very shallow and the area below where the eyelet is positioned it actually dug into the first metatarsal of my big toe and left a dent/bruise there while I was mostly sitting at home. I couldn't really walk in them and wonder how anyone could use them for running as the sole is too stiff. Each time I tried on a Keen walking shoe, I had a similar fit which gave me immediate pain. The toe box in this model seems identical. There's also a lack of padding and a stiff sole that adds to the discomfort. It's unfortunate that Altra didn't follow their usual running shoe design. Even though I use Altra's every day for walkin or light hikingt, it's the first time I've had pain and hope that they'll come up with a better designed lace up walking shoe in the future which fits more comfortably. Had similar discomfort with the Provision 4 so returning that one too. I've worn the Torin 4.0, Olympus, Paradigm 4, and Escalante models without any pressure points or major problems. So far, Paradigm seems to be best for me in terms of comfort, support and stability.

Was sent a $35 discount for August. Used it to buy these shoes. Ordered my regular size. Too small. Had to return. Would have ordered a full size bigger if I had been given the same discount but by the time I received the shoes, it was Sept!!!

I have owned three other pairs of Altra shoes, and they all fit and wore well. In contrast, the Cayd's are terrible. They rubbed continuously on the back of my feet, regardless of how I managed the laces. I even wore moleskin across my trials with the Cayd's, and the shoes still tore into the back of my feet ... which I have never experienced before with any shoes. (The only good news is that I just retuned the Cayd's under the Altra warranty trial period.)

Already gave the shoe a 5 star rating. It really is a terrific fitting shoe and incredibly comfortable. However, you will blow through laces every month if you wear these about 5 days a week like me. The grommets have sharp edges on the interior of the shoe that cut them every time you tie them. Laces aren't expensive but when you have the blue pair you can't exactly go buy a replacement. And Altra doesn't offer them. Grommets are an incredibly easy fix. Contact the Chinese manufacturer and tell them to switch. Not even a penny more per shoe.

Disappointed in these shoes. I've heard great things about Altra making shoes that are actually shaped like feet. I have trouble finding shoes that are shaped like my feet and allow room in toe box for my wide feet. I had read these run wide, but they definitely don't. The toe box on these shoes is narrow, the shape of the shoe is uncomfortable, and the toe box is incredibly stiff and inflexible. I have a high arch and the shoe was too stiff and small across the arch to work for me.
I'd also recommend:

I wear them M-F Friday for the last 3 months and and every Saturday for a year and the bottoms are tearing off already? This is an expensive shoe to only last a year! Especially considering that I don't wear them a lot and do very little walking in them when I am wearing them!

This shoe just doesn't work for me. It digs into the back of my leg when I walk and is making my feet and calves tight just from walking. I am returning them for a refund. I'm still on the hunt for a 0 drop, wide toe box shoe I can wear to work. Unfortunately, the Cayd is not it.

My feet ache after wearing these all day. Far too little cushioning. I can only wear these half a day with new special insoles. The Smith boot is the same way. Planks. No cushioning.
