Really liked the look and feel of these boots except they were to snug in the toe area. This resulted in some discomfort and unfortunately I had to return them as I felt a size up wouldn't work.

The 989 run small, I ordered a 10 standard and my toes hit the end of the shoe. I ordered a 10 cause that's what I wear in the 574 sneaker. Unfortunately now I have to send back wait a week for my refund then reorder. So another 2-3 weeks in my old worn out boots.

Needed something with reinforced toe for warehouse work. Composite toe does not keep in warmth like a hard leather toe when in sub freezing temps. Uppers take some break in time. Replaced the insoles after 2 months with gel inserts. Soles are slippery on concrete & tread will accumulate snow easily. Runs true to size. Have ordered many new balance shoes with great results; except this 989.

If do not stretch some will need to be exchanged for wide with. Surface easily attracts dirt.

Composite toes area very uncomfortable, constantly pushing on the top of behind toes..not recommended,plus the soles split real soon..the style is great,but quality needs to be better

These boots are too low in the back and give poor ankle support. When tightly laced for support, they squeeze your Achilles tendon and cause tendonitis. Disappointed in New Balance, they usually design better shoes/boots.

Shell seems to be a bit smaller. I buy new balance because of the wide size and safety shell matches width. For some reason my toes are running into the shells. They are made well just not for my feet.

I am giving 2 stars because unlike
1- other safety work shoes, it doesn't have defined heel.
2- my size 8 in extra wide is never available.
I wish in the near future; NB will produce the work boot with defined heel.
Other than the above, everything is perfect.

Right out of the box they look impressive. I thought WOW what quality. But after wearing them for few weeks.The bottom portion of the Boots are coming unglued.Had I kept the Boxes they came in,I would have sent them back. Not the same quality there Tennis shoes are made.

Shoe was great in the toe box but the oversized body of shoe through arch was too large. I could nearly tie the shoe so that both sides of the eyelets touched causing the bottom to pucker!

I got these shoes a half size bigger but that wasn’t enough. I used them for one night at work and the safety toe was smashing my pinky toes all night it was so uncomfortable. Second pair of shoes I have sent back, I’m just trying to find a comfortable shoe I can wear for a 12.5 hour shift.

Not what I wanted. Still, steel toed, too small. I knew that without putting on the second shoe. Returned and ordered a Rockport that fit well the first time. The return process was quick, easy and efficient.

I wore these shoes fo outside activity for a whole week with no issues but when I wore them for my regular warehouse job my toes got squized so bad I had to go home early I wished the shoes wire little bit wider
