Oh the heartbreak. They are totally beautiful and a fabulous color. Alas I read one of the other reviews from some that said her athletic calves fit without a problem. I must have exceptionally athletic calves and there was no chance of pulling these all the way up. So if you are someone who like me regularly has trouble finding boots that fit around the calf, don't expect these to be any different.

I am a size 4.5 and knew these boots would be too large. I planned on wearing a sock with them which I have done. They are still too large but I decided to keep them for very rainy or snowy days. They're fun boots. My guess is if you are a size 5 or larger they will be fine.

God forbid you have calves. Unless you've got really skinny calves (12" around), these boots aren't going to fit you, and don't even think of tucking your pants into them. I'm nowhere near overweight, 145, 5'7", and these boots could not fit past my calf muscles. It was very disappointing and I'm surprised that a single person had not mentioned this in any review. I have to return them now and obviously can't wear any other Hunter boots. Otherwise, they were extremely handsome boots and I loved looking at them, just couldn't get my legs into them.

These boots are super cute; however, if you are short, these are not the boots for you. The height of the boot hit me at the knee and when I sat down, they dug right into my leg and therefore were not the boots for me. Trust me when I tell you, if you are small, I say skip them!

I have been hemming and hawing over these boots forever. I had also tried on an older pair of the same style that my friend had and loved! So when I saw them on sale I sprang for them. My normal size varies from 8-9. Based on the reviews I decided to go with a 7 and an 8. When they arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the first pair appeared damaged. So I opened the second pair and noticed the same thing. Couldn't tell if it was scuffing from previous customers or something to do with the gloss, but I'm assuming this is not typical. Given the defect is on both, I see no sense in exchanging for another pair. In terms of fit, both fit fairly well but I probably would have gone with the 8 to allow for thicker socks. I have skinny calves and usually find the boot shaft to be big but these were perfect. Comfort was just ok...I was expecting more for the price. An interesting difference I noticed was that the 8 was about an inch taller than the 7...could be a manufacturing factor. I really wanted to love these but just couldn't justify spending $100 on something of this quality. I wonder if, like many other products, the quality of this item has gone down over the years as it's gained popularity or if the vendor for zappos differs from other companies that carry this same product. If the Matte go on sale, maybe I'll reconsider trying again but for now I'd rather put that money towards a pair of Ugg slippers. On a positive note, I have always loved zappos and their customer service. Thank goodness for free returns!!!!

I've had my Hunter's for three years now. Being from San Diego, I wear them about 5-7 times annually. There is wear through the rubber where my ankles are, the labels are peeling off, and the rubber in the buckles is ripping. I thought these boots were sturdier than this, but I guess not. I'm quite frustrated with the lack of wear-time. I do, however, find them quite warm and comfortable to wear. Plus, they absolutely look stylish on rainy days.

Mine arrived covered with the "bloom." I could not get it off, rubbing hard with either a cloth or paper towel. Not willing to purchase a product to get it into the shape it should have been in when it came. So I am returning.

After two wearings these boots did not hold their sheen. I am disappointed. I will exchange them for the matte finish and hopefully that will be better!

I bought a pair of Hunter Black Glossy rain boots through Zappos last month. I had too order a full size smaller to get them to fit. I have worn them three or four times and the gloss has turned all cloudy and dull. I have cleaned them with a cloth with plain water and wiped them dry with a soft cloth and they are still dull and streaky. I am very disappointed with their finish. I would like to know how to keep them shiny or return them. The fit is the fit, but believe for this price that they should stay looking great.

I normally wear an 8½ or 9 medium in shoes and boots. I bought these in an 8 and the fit in the foot was good; enough room for socks. The shaft of the boot, however is cut much differently than Hunter boots of the past. First, it is much narrower. It was not too narrow, but there was no way that I would be able to wear a hunter sock with it. Second, it is much too tall. I am 5'5" and when I sat down the top of the boot dug into the back of my knee. Standing up it felt too tall - hitting just above the lower part of my knee. This is the main reason that I am going to return these and get the shorter boot. Also, this boot requires help when you want to get them off. I really struggled getting one off and then had to get my husband help me with the second one. I have owned two other pairs of Hunter original boots from 15-25 years ago and the new Hunter is cut completely different and I did not have these problems with them.

Another brand ruined by offshoring manufacturing to you-know-where. Now has a seam where there was not one before; sizing is off; and general quality, overall, about the same as other cheap rain boots.

I bought these for my 16 y/o daughter. She loves the color. However, they are very tight in the calf. My daughter is small, but muscular. I am not sure that the opening is 15 inches as stated. Other boots with a 15 in. opening fit her fine. I am disappointed that this color is not offered in the bigger calf opening style. May be returning these boots.

These are so stylish but they are too tight for my athletic calves. If I wear them with socks or tights only, I can pull them off no problem. Forget jeans!

First these are lovely, and if you have the money to replace these every couple of years, skip my review. But if you are like me and saved up to splurge once and have a pair of boots that would last awhile, keep reading... I expected these to last longer. My pair began letting water in just short of two years after I purchased them. At first I couldn't figure out where, but when I look at the bottom of the boot and flex it, there are large cracks which slowly let water in. In conclusion, despite their loveliness, the boots are not worth the expense as they fail to perform their main function, keeping water out!

I bought these boots to wear in the rain and snow in New York City. I wore them for a little over a year, when they started to leak. Boots at this price, that are supposed to be the best, and they cracked at the ball of the foot, and were irreparable. I know at least five other people that this also happened to after owning their Hunter boots for a little over a year. I will never purchase them again.

I have had my boots for just over a year. After about 6 months of owning them the insole of the boots where my heel is began ripping. Just recently, I have found a hole on the bottom of the boot, as well as a tear by the toe of my other boot (where my toes bend when I walk). For the price I paid I expected them to last much longer than a year. I am not happy with the quality of the boot for the price you pay.

I love the way that these look on other people. Sadly, on my size 10 feet, they just look too utilitarian. Even with skinny jeans, they look floppy like I should be digging in the mud. On more petite feet they look cute. They are quite comfortable, however.

These were foggy when I got them, not shiny at all. I should have sent them back. Oh, and wear cushy socks and bring some band aids for your heels. Mine rubbed and gave heel blisters.

I was actually very disappointed with these boots. A few times after wearing them, the gloss completely faded away and now they are matte with white splotches all over. Plus my feet are freezing unless I wear super thick socks. Not thrilled based on the price.

Going back. Too big in the foot and too tight in the leg, unable to wear my wellie socks. Love the color and wish they offer this color in the Huntress style. Oh well, I had to try.

Tried these on in store and found the fit of the boots I received to be different. Without socks these are roomy but with socks one boot hits the back of my ankle and hurts. When I felt the inside of the boots I could feel a difference in quality between one boot and the other. The seam area on one boot was larger and they didn't connect to the heal very well. They are terrifically cute but I need comfort and am disappointed. Have tried the Sperry, they run narrow, tried the Hunter, now going to try Kamik and pray they fit well.

Huge! I was wearing my thickest wool socks and even then, these boots were so big it was laughable. Order a size down - maybe 2!

Well, I jumped on these as the red is rarely in stock at size 8. color is great. The fit is bizarrely atrocious. I had read other reviews stating these super cute boots are super tight in the calves and strangely baggy at the ankle. Still, I wanted the red. So I am very disappointed to say, that these super cute boots in a great and wonderful color are super tight at the calves and strangely baggy at the ankle. I have never before met a pair of boots that did not fit in the calf. None have been baggy in the ankle either. I am going to go out on a limb here it is like British pub food. Ever order a BLT in a London pub? Do not, unless you are a fan of a big hunk of bone in the Bacon portion of the sandwich. Which is to say, some British things do not make much sense. These boots should be fabulous. But they are not. They are weird. A terrible shame. Much as I felt in that London pub.
