My wife bought me the Daylight Plus backpack for our trip to Tucson (Sabino Canyon) hikes. I am very happy with the back pack with on exception. The two water bottle pockets SUCK! I cannot believe this product made it to market with this huge flaw. Just today I was hiking with my wife and dogs. I had taken the pack off to fetch water dispensary for the dogs. While putting packback on (very carefully I must add) the nalgene quart size water bottle falls out and rolls into the creek. Thank goodness I wasn't at 2600 feet in the desert in 100 degree heat with no water close. My suggestion is first thing Monday morning the Osprey engineers do their job and create a solution and redesign the water bottle pockets to hold a water bottle. I am selecting I would recommend this product but with a caution that the water bottle pockets SUCK!

I have used osprey packs for school all the way to backpacking adventures. I needed a daypack and I love the quality and size of this pack; however, when I wear this for an extended period of time (i.e. More than 20 minutes) my neck starts to ache pretty badly. I think it had to do with the strap/handle combination, but I really can't wear this on hikes of for travel. I'm really bummed.

I purchased an OSPREY Daylight 20 a couple of weeks ago for a hiking trip I was taking in Costa Rica. I didn't have a chance to try out the bag until my first big hike in the mountains when I discovered a design flaw with this bag. The side pockets are too shallow and wide to hold a water bottle securely in place. It was very frustrating to have the bottle falling out every time I leaned forward. I loved everything else about this pack and immediately upon my return to Canada I tried to exchange the bag for a different one. I was told by the Warranty Department that this is a "preference" issue and not a defect. I disagree with this assessment and I am a disappointed customer as a result especially given how OSPREY prides itself on its unlimited warranty. If you don't mind using a camel pack for your water there is no issue. If you like to have water the old fashioned way in a bottle secured to the side pocket you will be disappointed in this bag.

I use this product as a day hiking (tramping) bag and as a school bad for university. It has a nice laptop sleeve and can hold my belongings for school, however it does not hold a water bottle of to go coffee cup in the water bottle stash pockets. The bottles always fall out of flop out. When using it for day hiking I usually like to bring two 1L Nalgene bottles with me and again this is not doable due to the water bottle stashes not holding water bottles properly.

I really wanted to like this pack. But I found out on my 2nd and 3rd hiked with it that the top of the straps dig into your neck and create uneven weight distribution even with all chest and waist straps appropriately fastened. It made my neck/traps CRAMP SO BAD while descending from my hike and I ended up taking off the pack and carrying it with one hand. I'll outline in the pictures what exactly I mean. It wasn't packed with items at all- I only had my hydration pack, extra shirt, bear spray and a sandwhich in my pack. It's very unfortunate because otherwise, it's a good pack. But I won't be using for dayhikes ever again. It will likely stay in my car to hold gear.

I bought an osprey pack with a warranty. The zipper broke. They said would fix it if I would pay to ship it and be left without a pack for months during school. I think it would be easier to send me a temporary pack or just replace a product since they brag about the warranty. Sorry you don't make my current pack anymore. So I tried to find a comparable item

I have another Osprey pack, a Talon 22, that is a bit larger that is my go to carry everything to work pack and I love it. This product is not anywhere near that one in utility or comfort. I bought this pack because it fits airline specifications for fitting under the seat. I already have an old Camelback pack of the same proportions, but it doesn't have enough pockets outside the main compartment. I loaded the Daylite with the things I wanted to carry on, which included a mirrorless camera with 3 light lenses, ipad pro, water bottle, wallet, and a few other odds and ends that pretty much filled it. The straps cut into my shoulders no matter how I adjusted them, they seem more thinly padded than is needed. If I tightened the hip belt enough to distribute the load evenly between shoulders and waist it cut in and hurt. My Talon pack has a nice padded hip belt, and does a great job. I decided to use the Cameback for my trip instead, because the hip belt was wider that the Daylite, and more functional, and hung my extra stuff off the straps with carabiners to make up for the lack of pockets. As noted by other reviewers, I found that the water bottle fell out if I bent forward. Before I figured out that the shoulder straps could not be made comfortable for me I was considering making some modifications to the mesh pockets to keep the bottle, but decided the low utility of the back didn't warrant the effort.

Pack is OK except the external mesh pocket is not big enough and tight enough to hold a water bottle. Water must be secured inside the pack or it falls out every time you lean over. What were they thinking???
