Love the boots, just a little big. The color is also a favorite. The slightly "worn" or "broken in" color helps to disguise any normal wear and tear scuffs or marks. Highly recommend these! Just have to exchange or return for a half size smaller.

Love the color and style. Hard to get on at first, but once on they fit. Usually wear 7 or 7.5 in boots. Went with the 7.5.

The boots fit very well. The slate color is a little more distressed than I would like, but overall I like them very much.

These boots are beautiful. The cognac distressed leather is so pretty, soft enough to be comfy but firm enough to be durable. Also I appreciate that the soles of the rugged leather version of this shoe are a little less slick than the ones on the smooth leather options (I also tried the black classic smooth leather). I found the fit to be true to size and about a typical medium width, maybe a bit on the narrow side. And they're pretty comfy out of the box for all-leather shoes. I found these boots to run a bit more narrow in the shaft than other Fryes, though. I have several other pairs of Frye boots, including the Melissa lug boot, and all are the normal calf. These, however, where a little snug on me (my calf measures 14.5"). I could wear them with leggings, but skinny jeans felt too tight. So, I returned this pair and ordered the wide calf version. I'm afraid they'll be too wide, but we will see. Fingers crossed, because these are gorgeous boots!

I have a high instep so I could barely get my foot in (boot straps at top would be handy) and wasn't up to breaking them in and seeing how they turn out. It's a nice style but the leather is thinner and not as lush as the Paige. For those concerned about the shaft circumference, I measured the inside and it's 15"; I think the Frye's website says 16" but that's the outside.

I absolutely love these boots. The problem is the calf is too small. I need another inch in width. I love Frye boots . But have been unable to wear them for years due to the calf size. They say they are extended, but are only 1/2 inch wider than their regular size calf. Too bad another pair I must return. So sad b/c I really do love them.

Sadly, they were damaged when I received them. (Inside of right boot was ripped)

These shoes are very nice and quite comfortable and are well made. However, the bottom of the shoes are like glass. I put them on and slid across my wooden floors at home (it's worse when it's dusty ha ha ha!). I work in a hospital and I would definitely fall on the linoleum.

I love Frye boots and have had 2 pair for years, but I can't seem to find any new ones that live up to the old quality. These are super hard to get one and seem narrow. I know that I need to break a good boot like this in, but these are so uncomfortable at the start that I dont want to take that chance. I will say that they're quite pretty, and the wide calf was great. Just couldn't get past the ankle.

I wanted to love this so badly. It seems like the perfect, sleek boot. No buckles, straps, bells, or whistles - exactly what I was looking for. But I could NOT for the life of me get my foot inside. With no zipper to open up the ankle space, I pulled and tugged and yanked with all my might but there was no getting my heel inside that boot. Deeply disappointing!

I ordered a 9 because all of my shoes except my Nikes (9.5) are 8.5. I even checked all of my other boots and they are all 8.5 or 9. To be fair, the website did suggest I order the 9.5 but I just didn't see how since only one pair of shoes I wear are 9.5. I couldn't even get my foot into the shoe part of the boot so clearly they are too small for me. But I don't see how a half size larger will change anything. I do have high arches, and maybe that is why, but I got stuck at the ankle! They are really pretty boots though and I really wish they had worked out.

Size was great and they were really comfortable- the only problem is that the finish on the leather makes them look like they’re faux leather. I was willing to let that slide, figuring they would patina with time. The deal breaker was that my feet started to feel clammy after only 5 minutes in them. Have to send them back.

I wanted to love these boots! I love the look and style but they are impossible to put on. The issue I ran into is that the inner lining of the boot would stretch or separate from the boot and would stay around your heel once you got the boot on making it extremely uncomfortable. I returned 1 pair to sadly learn the 2nd pair did the same thing. I am returning these and trying something with a zipper.

I had to return them, begrudgingly, because it was super difficult to get them on my foot...my heel would get stuck! Loved the look and style, and they were comfy once on my feet, but it was way too much work to get them on and off.

Boots are beautiful. I ordered the extended in Redwood in 8 1/2, (My calves are 14.75) as the 8 in another Frye style had been too small and the shaft was too narrow. After really struggling to get my foot in past the ankle of the boot, it was too narrow and too long - my heel kept rubbing up and down inside the boot. I also decided that I wanted boots that were less of a struggle to get on and off, and decided on Bedstu's with a zipper. Returned these, although regretfully, as I had another pair of Frye boots for years, and loved them!

I could not get my feet down into these boots. Where the shaft meets the foot part of the boot is narrow and inflexible. There is no side zipper. They are truly beautiful, but without a zipper, I would never be able to get them on my feet.

Although I bought the Wide Width Calves - I could not pull these up. My calves are exactly 16 inches and these did not work. In addition, I don't know why they call these slate color - they are brown - not at all as I expected. Lastly - these are a disappointment from a brand I love Frye. The leather felt cheap and not at all what you would expect to get from a quality boot. As for Zappos - they were great - shipment came right away and return was a cinch. Love Zappos!

I should have listened to the majority of the reviews. The wine is a beautiful color but this boot can't even go over my ankle and i have skinny ankles. I wasn't even able to try them on. Unfortunately I have to send them back.

Perfect boot.

I had read reviews about how hard it was to get your feet into these boots but ordered them anyway. I have a very high arch and found it impossible to get them on. I took them to my local shoe repair shop to see if they could be stretched but was told that it would also stretch out the heel which would make them too large for my feet. They did however give me a tip that did the trick! Take a plastic bag (like you get when you shop for produce), cut the bottom so that it is open on both top and bottom, put the bag in the boot and put your foot in the bag. The boot slips on like butter! The fit is perfect. Hope that helps others who encounter the same problem.

I love these boots! The fit was perfect for my regular size. The grey is more brown than grey, and they look broken in instead of new. They are comfortable and very well made. I like that there are no zippers that will break deform the leather wears out. Very tempted to buy another pair just like them to hold for later.
