very nice boots but they have been worn (not by me) as it shows on the soles, and worn outside, as there are gravel marks, and the heels slightly scuffed. There is also a stain on the inside of the left boot

I bought a new pair of these boots... actually two, a 7 and a 7.5 because my old fry boots that are at this point about 15 years old are pretty rough (But oh so absolutely comfortable and like wearing slippers They're so broken in) so I thought since they're on sale, I'd treat myself to a new pair. I could tell from the pictures that they were definitely different than my old ones, so I went in to it with lower expectations but still hoping They would be really nice quality boots. Well my low expectations were correct. The leather was absolutely not the same quality. It was visually into the touch harder I guess if you will and not the soft supple leather that I got previously. There's no longer nice leather pull tabs on both sides of the shaft to help you get them on. Also oddly one of the boots had internal cheap fabric pull tabs and the other size had nothing. And the one that had nothing literally I could not pull them up to save my life. In addition my boots that I have now are size 7 and technically that's still the correct fit (So in my opinion no need to size up on these they are true to size) they're sizing hasn't changed... However the width has. I do not by any means have athletic or large calves at all, I have pretty slender calves and they were so tight at the top of my calf there's no possible way that I could wear jeans under them or even leggings as they would be extremely uncomfortable. Also the leather was almost puckered at the top of the shaft in front of one of the boots, so inconsistent QA and lack of care for putting the boots together. And the 7.5 boot was extremely wide in the shaft and it shouldn't have been any different so just a lot of inconsistencies. It's just a shame because they used to be amazing boots and have amazing quality and it's just not that way at all anymore and they're $100 more than they used to be. I get inflation yada yada but unfortunately the quality has gone way down while the price has gone up. If they come back in stock and are still on sale I may try another size 7 to see if I can get a better pair, but if those aren't any better I may have to look elsewhere for a nice pair of new boots.

These pretty boots run a little long. I sized down to a 5 1/2. Leather is beautiful, will last forever, looks great with anything.!!

Wow!!! The box arrived a little beat up (three weeks after I ordered) but boots were in great condition! The smell of quality leather made an awesome impression. I put these on with thin socks and a little struggle, but, oh my! They feel like they were custom made for me! I love these boots!!! I’ve been searching for the perfect riding boots for quite some time. I know these will get even better with age. If you’re a girl with muscular calves, order the extended size. They fit over skinny jeans with no problem and look very flattering! I got them in black and would order cognac too, but it’s sold out.

Okay, I'm obsessed. Preface by saying I'm super picky about have extremely comfortable shoes because I'm recovering from plantar fasciitis –– that said, I absolutely love these boots. They're so nicely made, the leather is luxuriant, and the style is classic. The sole is leather so it is slippery on carpet at first, but after a little wear on gravel/pavement the sole gets a bit more texture/grip. I ordered the style with the regular calf width in black, and it has little hidden pull tabs to help get the boots on. I have long, narrow feet and prefer size 10M (I wear Dansko 41 and Clarks 10M), and these were comfortable right out of the box. I did add my extra comfy orthotic inserts, and the toe box is roomy enough that my toes aren't crushed with this extra padding. My heel did slip a bit the first few times I wore them, but with further wear, the boots have really molded to my feet and do not slip as I step. They're so nicely made and comfortable, I'm planning on having these for years. Thanks Zappos!

Incredible quality. I have an old pair of Fryes in size 9 that have lasted forever and I’ll keep re-soleing. Ive been wanting a new pair for a long time, so I jumped on this Zappos sale! I wanted this to be a little bigger so I can wear thicker socks without crunching up my toes so I got a 9 1/2 and they’ll be perfect. The boot shaft is a little narrow, which works perfectly for me, but also great to know they have an extended calf option as well. Invest in a pair for the long haul and skip the yearly cheap boot hunt. Give yourself time to break them in and then look after them! I like to clean and polish mine and take them to the cobbler when I wear out the heel. And they smell amazing.

I had a bit of a hard time getting these on, and I have very small calfs and ankles. Once on they were super comfortable. I didn’t have any problems getting them off. Color and quality are great, exactly what you would expect from a Frye boot.

I just received my boots a couple of days ago when I bought them I sized up one size so I could wear socks with them and easier to wear leggings in them. The color is beautiful I selected slate color gorgeous. Very well made I will have years of having them. I will highly recommend these boots

Bought these in the redwood color. Frye boots run big on me in my normal siz 10, so i always have to get a 91/2, and that is what i took. They are vert comfortable, I love them!

Love love love! Could not get them on at first but then tried with hosiery type socks and they slid right on! I almost sent them back for a bigger size but when I got them on I was so glad I didn't, they would have been too big. 7.5 is perfect and I've taken them on and off a couple times already and it gets easier. Order true to size and start with very thin stockings!!

These are my second pair of boots from Frye and this boot did not disappoint. A true classic riding boot made with a soft leather with no need to "break-in." They are a little loose around the ankles and heel, quickly fixed with a thick pair of socks. They felt comfortable around my calves and easy to slip on given there is no zipper. I'm 5'2 and about 145lbs, I have a petite frame which may be a factor in the loose heel/ankle area.

I have a pair of Melissa's that I absolutely love. So I bought another pair, and I do not know what is going on with frye but their sizing is wacky. I have a very narrow foot and thin legs. These boots are way too narrow. I doubt anyones feet could fit into these comfortably. I'm giving up on frye and looking for another brand that's sizing is more consistent.

I was a bit worried about these boots when I received them and realized that there was no zipper, but I gave them a fair shake anyway and boy I am glad I did! The cognac color is rich and they slide right over my calves - which are of average size I'll say. After two evenings of walking around in these boots I'm confident that I'll continue to love these for years to come!

Absolutely beautiful boot. Supple, soft oiled leather that stays up on your calf. I don’t have large calves, and these boots in regular width are perfect for me. I usually wear an 8 1/2 but had to go down a half size and the 8 is perfect with thin socks. My heel slips a bit more than I’d like so I’m debating whether to keep them or not. Since they are pull on boots it did took me a few attempts to get them on my feet, but they stretched just enough so now they are easy to slip in to.

I love these boots! I have a 15ish inch calf and I was so worried the "wide calf/extended" version of these boots just wouldn't be wide enough. FRYE unfortunately caters to those lucky gals who have super skinny calves. However, these fit pretty well! They are just a bit snug around the widest part of my calf, but from my experience with Frye boots in the past, I know they will stretch out over time. They really are pretty easy to get on and off for pull ons. I have a boot kick/jack which I highly recommend for people who like pull on boots like me! Makes a world of difference. Yes, the ankle is tight when you first put them on. Once you break them in, that will go away. They'll stretch to form to your foot and be perfect! That is the way these boots are supposed to be. The cognac color is gorgeous in person, I love the highs and lows. As always, I'm thoroughly impressed with Frye and will be a lifelong customer.

Boots are amazing; No problems or complaints about them at all, however, I did end up returning them. This was my first pair of Frye boots so I really wanted to have the Frye box but these came in a plain cardboard brown box. That was a deal breaker for me. Unfortunately, I will have to purchase these from a Frye store to insure I get a Frye box as well. The boots smelled amazing by the way!

Beautiful and quality-made boots - so glad I tried them. The color (slate) is just as gorgeous in person and works with everything I have paired so far. My only issue was getting these boots on. I wear a size 7 in most shoes, so I started there. Of course, when the Zappos box arrived, I immediately stopped what i was doing to try the boots on. One went one with minimal fuss, but the second (on the foot that is a teensy bit larger) would not cooperate. I got stuck halfway into the second boot and could not get my foot all of the way in (sweaty wrestling match... I lost). I quickly ordered a half-size up (7.5), which were delivered less than 24 hours later, and to my relieve, I was able to get both feet into these boots. Within one day of wearing, the leather was breaking in nicely; now one week later, the boots feel like a custom fit. LOVE!

My 13-year old daughter has had a pair of the Frye Melissa Button 2's for almost a year in a size 6.5 in the Wine color. She is finally starting to grow and was worried that she might outgrow her boots before our annual 2 week trip to a dude ranch in Arizona for Christmas break. She wore these last year for two weeks of horseback riding and then transitioned to wearing them for more fashionable occasions - after some serious cleaning. She wears them with jeans, leather pants, dresses. They go with everything. I was on the Zappos site buying her another pair in a larger size in Wine when I saw the Slate color and decided I would buy a pair for myself. I am a big fan of the Harness 12R, which is what I ride in at the ranch. Last year I got two jumping cholla stuck through my jeans right above the top of my boots...painful and it left a scar on my leg. Hopefully, the extra shaft height will prevent any more problems with the cacti on the trails. I always wear a size 9 in Frye boots. They fit perfectly in my usual size 9. The slate color is kind of a grey/brown with a bit of dark charcoal distressing. I wore them the first time with a black sweater and they looked great. They were super comfortable for me. I did not have any trouble getting my feet in the boots as other reviewers have discussed. They fit just like my 12R's...a tiny bit of heel slip...which is just the way a pull-on boot should fit. I own 10+ pairs of Frye boots. I think these were probably the most comfortable out of the box. I was prepared for some blisters the first time I wore them, but I did not have any issues. Buy them. You will love them!

I ordered these boots in the Slate color. I absolutely love these boots but unfortunately I am unable to wear them. I have bunions on both feet and cannot get my toes inside of them....I am so disappointed because they are a very high quality boot.....

I normally wear between an 8.5-9 and the 8.5 fit my foot nicely. The leather seemed of nice quality as well. The boots arrived in a plain brown box and appeared to have been tried on multiple times based on a few marks on the sole. Still for the sale price, I would love to have kept these boots. While the foot fit my narrow feet well, they shaft was too narrow for my athletic 15" calf. Sadly, I had to return these boots.

I love love love the way these look. They are comfortable boots once I get them on, but I do break a sweat trying to get them on my feet. I have never in my life had issues getting boots on, my legs are tiny; but these are ridiculously hard to get on. After a while they get broken in and are a little easier to get on.

These boots runs a bit large in the length. Maybe not a full half size, but larger than other Frye boots I have tried. The color is very nice.

Super cute boot, but very hard to get on and off. I’ve worn them out a couple of times, but still need help getting them off.
