Very disappointed with my new 928V3 in tan.
Had purchased pair of 928V3 in grey suede in 2017. Tongue too short. Problem not corrected.

These are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever tried on. Sending back. I don’t know what it is but lately New Balance is just disappointing. It seems like their shoes are about a size smaller than they should be so I ordered these a size bigger and they fit ok, but were loose in the heel. But they are super uncomfortable. It is like walking in concrete shoes. No padding at all. Stay away.

New Balance has gone off the rails, starting with the 928 every change has been bad. The 927 fit great, the 928 was too tight in width and length and the V2 was even worse. The v3 has a bigger towbox but the tongue is too short and the sole is too hard.
I don't understand why NB can't just go back to the 927 and be done with it. Same goes for every Model they ruined at the same time. Just go back to where they were before.

Defective. The tongue is much too narrow. I have another pair of these shoes and the tongue on this pair is nearly one-half inch narrower than on the other pair.

I hate them. They squeak. Second pair of squeaking shoes. Returned the first pair Something is wrong with their manufacturing process and quality control. Don't buy them!

I have been buying V1 and V2 for years. They were great! I bought 4 pair of the version 3 when they came out and all had a Tongue that was too Short. I waited a year in hopes you would correct this or make a V4 that was made correct. I was wrong the V3 shoes I got a week or two ago the tongue ends up back in the shoe when I walk 10 minutes of walking. The only reason I have held on to them is the 4 pair of Version 2 that I have are worn out. Please correct this problem or make a Version 4 correctly. Please Email me with your solution.

I only wear New Balance shoes and have been a loyal customer for 20 years. Sadly, this latest pair of New Balance walking shoes, even though it is listed as 6X, is too narrow for my feet. They look narrower than my previous pair of New Balance shoes which were listed as this size and fit my feet perfectly. I'm wondering if New Balance's new 6X is closer to what their previous 2X or 4X used to be.

Let's be absolutely clear, which term I never use in legal writing, the 928v3 is an inferior shoe in comparison to its predecessor, the 928. Shorter laces, shorter tongue, less support, all differentiate the 928v3 from the 928. Poor reviews of version 2 appear unanimous, and v3 is a reboot of a product displacement. But not much could have been improved. Maybe the shade of black? Fortunately, I found a pair of original 928's from a New Balance store in North Jersey and received them on line in a few days. I should buy two pair, but will give NB a chance to make its next contract with the previous supplier and bring back the original 928. I'd advocate for the 927, but that's asking too much.

The last pair of New Balance shoes were the 928V3 series. I purchased extra wide, but the narrowness of this series caused corns on my right foot and blisters on my left. This time I am very unhappy.

Bought shoe in Feb and the upper has a hole in it where sole meets upper. Shoe was ordered large and wide so it was not too small. I have to think dryrot

New Balance has turned the best-performing line of heavy duty walking shoes into a work shoe.
In the store, they felt great standing or walking across the room. Nice snug fit and great support.
But very disappointing performance when I tried to walk a few laps on asphalt.
The shoe is very stiff. It has very little bounce or forward roll. It feels like a dress shoe when it strikes the ground.
Comparing with my old 925s, there's about 25% less padding on the 928.
Notice that most of the most positive reviews here's are from folks who bought them for work.
I regret this purchase.

Version 3 is longer in the toe area than Version 2. Version 3 has little arch support. Version 2 had excellent arch support. I returned the Version 3--disappointing after wearing Version 2 for years. (The old Version 2 offered perfect fit, maximum arch support, excellent stability & incomparable comfort.)
I'd also recommend:
I recommend hunting down Version 2 while some are still available

I walk every day and within the first 30 days, I wear holes on the inside of both shoes. Bought my first pair on July 3rd and today is September 26 and the Santa Monica New Balance store, will not replace my second pair. New Balance customer service said that I have to print off a return authorization slip and I have to pay the shipping back to them. After they receive the shoes, they will issue me a credit. There return policy truly sucks!!! There 928 v3 shoes really, really suck!!!

Got a new pair of 928's for work every year since 2006. Loved them. I've even kept the older pairs for work around the house. But this year the new pair failed in a month! The footbed came apart, wadded up under my heel. New Balance replaced them, but the very same thing happened again with the 2nd pair. Now they are giving me a credit for that pair. But what can I buy/ These new 928's are not usable at all. A waste of time and money.

I have tried wearing these shoes on several different occasions and have never been more uncomfortable. The shoes are ill fitting and cause my knee to twist. I thought I was going to have to go see a doctor until I figured out that it was the shoe causing my problem, not an injury. I have few regrets in life but buying this shoe is one of them

I LOVED the original version of this shoe, it was everything I needed. I should have stocked up on that version, because this one is NOT the same. I was told to order the same size I did in the V1. These are too tight in the width. I can get my foot in the shoe, but there is NO room to move, it's jammed in there. They've taken all the cushion out of the shoe itself, and apparently put some in the insert. I can't use those inserts, I have to wear custom fit orthotics in my shoes, so without the cushion this is like walking directly on the floor. In addition, the height of the shoe back by the ankle area is lower than the original version, which results in less support. I was told by three different employees that these were just as good as the originals. They lied. I'll be sending these back, and looking at other companies for a shoe that works. IF New Balance decides to go back to the original version that everyone liked best, I'll become a customer again, but it seems to me they're not that interested in giving their customers the best of this shoe. I find it to be such a shame that they took a really great supportive shoe and turned it into such a piece of junk.
