I know that a lot of people want gel or some kind of soft stuff in the shoe but if you are on your feet all day and have a tilting stance then gel and foams just make your feet hurt more. I need a firm solid fit so my feet don't move around. I have bought this shoe for years and the only thing I have changed up is the width. I work in a clinic on my feet 12 hour days I need a shoe that keeps my heel in place and that doesn't push up on my arch. If you have Pronation or Supination when walking this shoe will help. Yes the bottom of the shoe is hard but that is what I need when standing it keeps the fat on the bottom of the heel from displacing causing pain in the heel bone. The top toe area is spacious and I love to spread out my toes and stretch at break time. I wore this shoe right out of the box and spent the day at a county fair....walking all day with no pain, no blisters just awesome pain free and comfortable. This is how a walking shoe is supposed to work and i'm going to buy this style in black asap. Just for reference i'm 58 years old, over weight but active and diabetic. I highly recommend this shoe to those people who know their shoe size and width it makes a big difference. Hope I helped. Best wishes. P.S. I love this color!!
I'd also recommend:
Brooks if you don't need a wide toe.

I need a new pair of shoes badly, and was very hopeful for these. I've been wearing 928's for years, and was hoping this newer model would be closer to the original. They are very pretty, but the whole shoe is much narrower, especially the toe box. I'm very disappointed. Have to send them back.

My last pair of 928s were wider and I got a D at that time. They fit like they were made for me. This 928 D feels like it is made for someone with a more slender foot. Also, the edges are higher and come up under my ankle bones and rub when I walk. I will have to take time to 'break them in' which was not necessary in the last pair I had. Soooo, I don't know if a double wide would have worked as the heel on this one is perfect. This is the shoe my dr. recommends for plantar fasciitis. Hope this is helpful for folks.

Once again, I'm so disappointed in New Balance. The brand new 928v3 has a larger toe box, but the sneaker feels like you're wearing a shoe made of hard steel. I lasted 5 minutes in it before I felt like my feet were screaming "take these off"! Except for the wider toe box, this new version feels EXACTLY like the 928v2.

Felt pretty much as I expected. An oddity however with the shoe was the length of the tongue. It is much shorter than the tongue on my older pair of 928s, so much so that I am constantly having to untie the shoe, pull the tongue out, and retie. I hope this was just an oddity with my pair and not a change New Balance has made. Unfortunately I got them right before a trip and could not return them and get a replacement. If the attached photo copied correctly, you will see the old shoe with the longer tongue in the background and the new shoe with the shorter tongue in the foreground.

I wore my last pair of NB 928's for 2 years. I had trouble with my feet and lost the ability to walk for several months. After surgery to my spine, I decided to treat my feet to a new pair of 928's. They deserved it. The new v3 version are perfect, as usual. I might say that the toe box is slightly smaller, but it does not interfere with my walking at all. As a matter of fact, they give me the excellent support and security I need now. I feel quite safe in my new 928's. Thank you, New Balance and thank you Zappo's for your continuous fine service.

Even after reading the negative reviews I ordered these shoes because I'd had such good luck with my last pair of 928's. After trying them for a few days I had to return them. The toe box was indeed more narrow, the support seemed less good, and I experienced hot spots and foot tingling even with moderate walking. They just seemed not as well constructed as my last pair, but are still very expensive.

I have worn the original 928's for years and I was concerned about the 928v3 not fitting. Not true. I think they are more comfortable than the original 928. The toebox fits perfect and I'm a EE width. It's definitely one of my most comfortable shoes. I intend to purchase more but different colors.

I bought these sneakers based on the New Balance name. I should have read all the reviews. The shoe is so stiff I feel as though I have a hard cast on my foot. I am suffering from a stretched tendon and I thought this shoe would help since I also have to wear a brace on my foot. Well unfortunately this sneaker made it worse. There was no give to the shoe and the extreme hardness actually made the pain worse in the injured foot, and so uncomfortable on the other foot that I could hardly walk. When I went back to my foot doctor I showed him the sneaker and he said it was the worse shoe he had ever seen and advised me to return them and not wear them at all.

I've been wearing NB for over 10 years and purchase an average of 3 pairs each year. Have always just put them on and was good to go. I appreciate the roll bar in the heal and the support and cushion in the shoes. I've have recently had to return 2 pair and reorder again to get a pair that fit and were comfortable. What I am getting now are cheaper shoes with very little cushion or padding inside and I feel like I am walking on the sole. They just aren't the quality they once were and I am forced to shop for something better.

I have purchased New Balance shoes for years. I finally was able to buy a new pair. I took a photo of the old pair next to the new pair side by side. I work as a Medical Technologist in a hospital clinical lab. The shoes tell part of the story of that crazy awful year known as 2020.

I have a right fused ankle & wear an AFO brace permanently since 2008, this style was great a few years until they kept changing, more narrow, then wider I don't know what other sneakers to buy to fit my brace comfortably so I need to keep buying every 4-5 months until my brace falls out abit on outer side, wish this style came back to what it use to be a pair lasted me a year

Recommended by a podiatrist. Although very unattractive, they help a lot with my multiple foot problems (stress fracture recovery, ongoing tendonitis). They are the most supportive shoe I have ever had, work well with my custom orthotics and provide stability I have unfortunately never found in any other shoe. The only drawback is the style. They look incredibly dated and like a stereotypical unattractive orthopedic shoe. Why does it have to be this way? It would really help if New Balance made an attempt to make them look sportier, or at the very least offered a black suede like they do the navy suede (a very slight improvement). Sadly, for me there is no choice in the matter and I have to go with function over form...but I still hope one day New Balance will put some effort into the aesthetics of this shoe while not changing the support and stability.

This is my third order for the same shoe. I walk 4 miles every day with a 30 lb vest and need good foot support because of the extra weight. I usually wear out two pairs of shoes each year. Because I walk year round in the Northeast weather, full leather seems to work best. With the exception of a few models, New Balance seem to fit me well.

This shoe is great. A little wider than the last 928's. I usually wear extra wide do to diabetes. Need the extra space for the circulation on my feet and my orthodics. Theses came a little on the wide side which was ok because I had insoles that did not fit with the others. Now I can use them in these. So far so good. Told me I would not get them till Friday and they were here Thursday instead. Can't beat that.

These shoes did not feel good on my feet! Very hard sole and very hard to just walk in. I usually wear Brooks Addiction Walker and I will stick to those. I just wanted to try to find something else to wear at other times but no luck! I don't know what New Balance does to their shoes but these felt like walking with cement blocks on the bottom of my feet. I wear soft orthotics so they should feel good but they didn't. I wouldn't recommend these shoes at all. I'll stick to the Brooks! Zappos is the best.

I use my own over-the-counter arch supports (Powerstep Protech from Amazon) that my podiatrist recommended. They fit perfectly in this shoe. These New Balance 928v3 are a solid support diabetic approved shoe. Nothing fancy, but they do the job. I like that the black is a solid black, so with dark slacks, they don't stand out as athletic walking shoes. Blend perfectly. Since I'm stuck in support walking shoes, I purchased in white for the summer and navy/grey to wear with jeans.

These are the only shoes I’ve bought that actually help to reduce the pain I’ve had from plantar fasciitis. This style was recommended to me about 6 years ago by a podiatrist, and it helped tremendously. They’ve updated the look a bit, which is nice, but the structure hasn’t changed in my opinion. My foot doesn’t wiggle side to side, which is what my podiatrist said aggravated the PF. As for sizing, I find these to run a bit large; I normally wear a 10W in athletic sneakers, but with this style a 9W is my perfect fit.

First, this V3 is a very nice shoe. However, the original 928 V2 was renown for its' wide toe box and narrow and snug heel. No longer. They are producing it now with a narrower toe box and the same narrow heel. The wide toe box and narrow heel is what I needed and experienced in my first pair of 928s. So I'm super disappointed, now I have to start looking all over again as I did the first time I fell upon the great 928 several years ago. So Sad.

They look ok and are longer than normal. They felt too shallow. My right foot would come out when I walked.

New Balance has always "been there" for people with narrow feet. No more. I wear an 8 2A with NB and have for 40 years so I know what NB can do and has done. I actually have this shoe in an earlier version albeit worn out. This version of the 928 and the 857 2A that I returned and have also worn for thirty years are nothing close to a narrow width. The toe box is too wide and to make it tighter you have to buckle the instep. The heel is more akin to that found in a B width. The sole is SO STIFF that it is not conducive to a comfortable walk as it doesn't bend with the walking gait. As it forces a different gait, hips and knees begin to hurt. I do not, nor cannot, recommend this version of the 928v3.
I'd also recommend:
There's nothing to recommend as there are no narrow shoes any longer

The shoe didn't give much support and the sole seemed lumpy. I started getting pain on the bottom of my foot near the heel and walking took a lot of effort compared to my version 1 shoes. I am at a loss as to how to find a shoe to accommodate my very sensitive feet. I need a round toe box, wide in front but narrow at the instep and heel. Also this shoe isn't quite deep enough, in terms of fitting orthotics. But the worst part is the sole doesn't distribute pressure or provide support like a good walking g shoe should.

I bought the suede version of this shoe. I wear orthotics and need a good supportive shoe. These are like walking with cement blocks on the bottom of your foot. Very uncomfortable. They were true to size however they went right back. I would not recommend them at all.
