The 928v3 is the sturdiest, most supportive, comfortable, best shoe ever. My foot doctor recommended it to me. Thank you.

Due to arthritis, I had my ankle fused a year ago. I am able to walk without ankle pain now, but when I walk for any distance (1 mile or more) my foot hurts and swells up! Since purchasing my shoes, I've not had that problem. I'm so happy that my little sister's podiatrist recommended them! I can again enjoy nightly walks with my husband!

I use my own over-the-counter arch supports (Powerstep Protech from Amazon) that my podiatrist recommended. They fit perfectly in this shoe.
These New Balance 928v3 are a solid support diabetic approved shoe. Nothing fancy, but they do the job. I like that the black is a solid black, so with dark slacks, they don't stand out as athletic walking shoes. Blend perfectly. Since I'm stuck in support walking shoes, I purchased in white for the summer and navy/grey to wear with jeans.

These shoes are Perfect! My feet always hurt for various reasons and these are my new favorite shoes! I have had these shoes for about a month, and I’m still wearing them almost every day! The heel bed is nice and deep, so I feel like my foot has really a lot of support. So comfortable, and no break in period at all!!

These are the only shoes I’ve bought that actually help to reduce the pain I’ve had from plantar fasciitis. This style was recommended to me about 6 years ago by a podiatrist, and it helped tremendously. They’ve updated the look a bit, which is nice, but the structure hasn’t changed in my opinion. My foot doesn’t wiggle side to side, which is what my podiatrist said aggravated the PF. As for sizing, I find these to run a bit large; I normally wear a 10W in athletic sneakers, but with this style a 9W is my perfect fit.

The 928 v3 hasn't as much cushioning as version 1, but it is one of the few narrow shoes in leather for women. I can fit my orthotics in place of the removeable insoles, or use my ankle brace without getting a bigger size. Don't make my feet look as big as other styles. cThe leather is not as stiff after some wear, and holds up for years. The cuff of fabric is prone to snags from any contact with velcro . Some beige/gray have part mesh fabric in the tongue that the other colors don't have. The outer sole will pick up needles from conifer trees because of the small spaces between the tread. Laces stay tied and are generous length, no fraying or breaking. This version 3 is on sale, and new balance may be coming out with a version 4, according the the customer rep I spoke with.

Heel support with roll bar is great; however, shoes are very stiff, don't flex much at all. Seems tight at width of toe-end.

New Balance has changed this shoe - now the heel is larger and slips easily - I can put in one finger behind my heel. The shoe still fits across the ball of the foot. I tried on several pairs of socks, and used the farthest shoe tie, to no avail. Can't wear if my heel slips - back they go and I have to go to a real shoe store now to find another pair to fit with a wider toe box to fit my bunion, crooked toe. Bummer.

I have worn this model of new balance for over 20 years, and the first version #1 was the best fit for my long, narrow foot. The latest version in 2024 and 2025 has changed for the worse. It has a narrower toe box, a wider heel, less cushioning and laces that are short by 2". The laces don't stay tied because the are not flat laces. I cannot use the latest version because of all these changes. I have always had to purchase other laces for safety and good support. The sizing has been changed to a half size shorter than in the past, so now the 10.5 I ordered are the same length as the old 10. The shape of the shoe is different and not as natural a foot shape.

I have bought at least 6 pair of 928v3. They all fit perfectly right out of the box. This time I ordet the exact same size and they are an inch shorter and narrower that all the others. So much shorter that my orthotics wrinkled up inside. Have been super happy until these new ones came in. Sent back the next day.

I bought the suede version of this shoe. I wear orthotics and need a good supportive shoe. These are like walking with cement blocks on the bottom of your foot. Very uncomfortable. They were true to size however they went right back. I would not recommend them at all.

I have worn this shoe for years now. They aren't stylish and they are the best for my very wide feet and supportive for all my casual walking needs.

They fit like a dream. I felt like an infant swaddled in blankets. However, I purchased this style to walk during an European trip. Many say they weren't slip resistant. I need something I can walk on wet cobble stones without falling, as I suffer from nerve pain.
I also thought they looked like faux leather.

My first NB in many years. I got fitted and was totally floored (excuse the pun); my foot has changed dramatically in that I went from 6 wide to a 71/2 medium shoe (sneaker). I had to try the 928v3 on several times, they felt tight in the shoe box. So, all sneakers are supposed to be soft and cushy and comfortable, right? Well, I learned a lot about the many shoes I picked out and of those shoes I asked for the best support, med. arch, and a shoe that prevents overpronating. I can’t begin to count how many shoes I tried on, and none of them met any of my requirements (podiatrist requirements). So, I asked the shoe person to pick some for me. It was then that I realized that a good supportive shoe means the bottoms don’t flex like a running shoe, the sides of the shoe are firm and doesn’t allow the foot and heel to slosh around in the shoe. I thought the toe box was tight and could possibly make my pinky toe go numb and cause the top of my instep to become really painful. I had doubts so I decided to trust the young man helping me; I tried this 928v3 again, and again (longer each time) I couldn’t get past the firmness. 10 minutes past closing I tried them on again (and tried some others on in between). I paid close attention to how I walk in them. I wasn’t walking to fit my shoes, I was walking for my shoes to fit me! My entire stride had changed and in that short of time I could feel my ankle supported and my knees and hips that hurt so badly felt less pain… seriously? Yes, most seriously!!! This shoe wasn’t my idea of comfortable but it checked all the boxes for my shoe requirements. I tried them on again (yes again). It was then that I also realized that they were comfortable… toes fit in toe box misunderstanding tight for supported and my need for a heel that fit properly but still had a tiny bit of slide(I always wore clog type shoes).
This shoe is what I wanted but sincerely didn’t know what a well fitted shoe was or felt like. A supportive shoe doesn’t mean just the size of the arch (so I used to think). Don’t misunderstand me, a proper arch completes the support of the shoe. The arches in this shoe I would say are minimal and I plan to swap them out for an insert with a higher arch and padding for the balls of my skin and bone feet.
I can’t compare any of the previous models of this 928v3, I but I have a supportive shoe that helps reduce pain and fatigue from the bottom up. The leather is firm but buttery; and I find all of this intriguing. I am diabetic and need shoes that won’t cause blisters or chafing. I have found a diamond in the rough (30 shoes later). This shoe is well made, I think they will last a very long time!

This motion control shoe made a huge difference in my pain level and my life. After more than a year of suffering lateral foot pain so bad I could hardly walk (collapsed arches, achilles tendonitis, peroneal tendonitis) -- and getting no help from podiatrists, no help from wearing good stability shoes (New Balance 990v5) with good arch supports, my pain continued, getting worse as the day went on each day. I thought I was on my way to being disabled. Finally, I decided to try a motion control shoe (New Balance 928v3) with my Powerstep insoles. The FIRST day, as the day progressed I kept waiting for the pain to start. IT NEVER DID. To test this I put on my former New Balance stability shoes (990v5) for a few hours and ran some errands. The pain returned. Got home, took them off and put the 928 Motion Control shoes back on. NO PAIN. For me, after a year of intense daily suffering, this is a MIRACLE. The only reason I gave this a 4-Star for Comfort is that the tongue is too short and narrow. If the tongue were longer and wider I'd give it a 5. Hopefully when a new version of the 928 comes out, which is overdue, New Balance will fix this tongue issue.

I have persistent tendinitis and plantar faceitis and podiatrist has ordered these for me. I cannot wear any other shoe at all because the support is not there. I replace insoles with PowerStep insoles and I feel ok. I have worn this everyday for at least 4 years now. I only wish that there were more colors to choose from. I wear narrow but I definitely cannot wear any other style.

This shoe has become a Unicorn for me. I look high and low for these shoes often but they never exist until one day, after all that looking, "poof" one turns up. I have a torn tibial tendon and a replaced tibial tendon in the other foot. These shoes make it possible to walk every day. I love my white ones and the tan ones are very nice as well. Both are great don't scream "GERIATRIC!!" I love how they hold up and they wash nicely. I don't know that I'll ever find a shoe as supportive as this. But I don't know I'll ever find this shoe again.

Same shoe I have worn for many years. Does not require breaking-in. I use an orthodox to help ease the width of my foot and add to the arch support. Mine are 'old' feet and need the tremendous amount of support this shoe provides.

I've worn these over 10 years, though purchase new ones every two years. Mayo Clinic recommended these for my Plantar Fasciitis, and I haven't had a problem since. I wear these every day, and they do last quite a long time.
