Really liked the look and feel of these boots except they were to snug in the toe area. This resulted in some discomfort and unfortunately I had to return them as I felt a size up wouldn't work.

The 989 run small, I ordered a 10 standard and my toes hit the end of the shoe. I ordered a 10 cause that's what I wear in the 574 sneaker. Unfortunately now I have to send back wait a week for my refund then reorder. So another 2-3 weeks in my old worn out boots.

Needed something with reinforced toe for warehouse work. Composite toe does not keep in warmth like a hard leather toe when in sub freezing temps. Uppers take some break in time. Replaced the insoles after 2 months with gel inserts. Soles are slippery on concrete & tread will accumulate snow easily. Runs true to size. Have ordered many new balance shoes with great results; except this 989.

If do not stretch some will need to be exchanged for wide with. Surface easily attracts dirt.

Good -This is a very hard and rugged shoe which holds up well Bad - This is a very hard and rugged shoe - not very forgiving to your foot.

Your work shoe that has composite toe 412v1 much more comfortable wish I could return the one I have for those

Chopping wood. Protected my toe, when wood fell. However, the toe area is too roomy on top.

Shell seems to be a bit smaller. I buy new balance because of the wide size and safety shell matches width. For some reason my toes are running into the shells. They are made well just not for my feet.

I am giving 2 stars because unlike 1- other safety work shoes, it doesn't have defined heel. 2- my size 8 in extra wide is never available. I wish in the near future; NB will produce the work boot with defined heel. Other than the above, everything is perfect.

Right out of the box they look impressive. I thought WOW what quality. But after wearing them for few weeks.The bottom portion of the Boots are coming unglued.Had I kept the Boxes they came in,I would have sent them back. Not the same quality there Tennis shoes are made.

I LIKE THE LOOK OF THESE BOOTS BUT THEY MAKE MY FEET HURT REALLY BAD.

Would have like to know they were steel toe boots.

Shoes are very comfortable and easy to wear. Unfortunately in less than 45 days of wear a hole developed in the lining at the outside of the heel under the breathable mesh sides. (On both shoes!) I needed a composite or safety toe. Really wish New Balance would add more options in safety/composite toe shoes.

Had to return the boots. Bummed as all I wear are New Balance otherwise.

they were stiff and hurt my feet. Only wore them for 1 day.

The composite toe was to low for my toes. My toes rubbed on the edge of the composite.

HUGE fan of the 990!! That influenced my decision to purchase these to work in. TOTALLY different! uncomfortable.

Bought these boots to work in an automotive shop. Super comfortable right out of the box. I have now worn them for 7 work days and the sole is already coming apart from the leather near the toe. Feel like I wasted my money.

shoe doesn't fit me to well. and its very bulbous maybe because it's composite toe.

Runs narrow. Bought a 4E size, and it still pinches my toes.

Top of shoes already wearing threw not a good shoe if your in construction line of work comfortable shoes thow ,and I'm really hard on shoes
