I. Love. These. Shoes. I've been running for 28 years, varying distances, on the road and on the trails and have worn just about every brand of running shoe manufactured. I have been spectacularly fortunate not to suffer chronic injury despite taking some spectacular falls on the trails after tripping over roots, on rocks, over vines stretched across trails, or, hell, I've been sidelined after rolling my ankle on a pebble in the parking lot before the run--but I've always recovered quickly and been able to resume running with no lingering effects. In the past 10 years, I've been getting more into ultramarathons and have done numerous 50Ks, 50 milers, and last October I attempted my first 100-mile race but was medically DQed at mile 76 (dehydration, dropping blood pressure, low oxygen level). This demoralizing disaster, coupled with 20 years of trip-and-falls on the trails finally starting to manifest as soreness in my ankles, feet, and knees, brought my running to a screeching halt for three months. Mentally I didn't want to run. Physically I didn't want to run. When I did, my body hurt. No shoes felt "right". When I did manage a few miles, I was using my blown-out Hoka Clifton 3s because they were the ONLY shoe that felt wide enough and cushy enough to accommodate my splayed out, played out, smashed up feet. I started trying to imagine my life as a non-runner and tried to come up with an alternate sport that I'd love as much that would give me the same mental solace long-distance running provided. However, before completely giving up on running, I decided I'd find some new shoes and start with lower, manageable miles. AND THEN I FOUND THE SPEEDGOAT 2. They felt great right out of the box, were wide enough for my narrow-heeled, wide-toed duck feet, and had just enough sproingy support to boost me along without losing momentum to the cushioning. I love them. I immediately bought a second pair in case Hoka changes these shoes (waaaaaaaah, nooooooooooo). My niggling aches and pains when I run are gone, and I now look forward to getting on the trail for my shorter jaunts through the woods. I cannot say enough how much I love these shoes. Buy them now.

This is my first pair of Hokas, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I absolutely love these shoes, they are so comfortable and that comfort lasts the entire day that I am on my feet. (up to 16 miles a day according to my tracker) They are also the first pair of shoes I can wear all day that does not pinch the heck out of my bunion. If you have a similar situation, Id suggest you give these a try. They are not going to win any fashion awards but they get the job done quite well. They take a bit of getting used to walking in, I tripped quite a few times the first day wearing them but then, I am not known for my grace.
I'd also recommend:
salomon, saucony, keen, merrel

I broke my fibula, knee and femur almost four months ago. Much hardware! I thought Hoka would offer support and cushioning. I was right. I've worn for years and will continue. This is a very comfortable and light weight show. Someone told me it runs large so I got an 8 but had to send back for 8 1/2 which is what I usually wear in sport shoe. Love it!

I'm a former exclusively road runner just making my foray into trail. This shoe was recommended by many trail running friends, and it is fantastic. Cushiony, comfortable, and my legs feel fantastic even after many miles. I'm very injury-prone, but I haven't even felt a twinge since I've donned these shoes. I'd order a half size larger.

I bought these shoes for my mother who was suffering from plantar fasciitis for several months. Of course, the doctors told her she needed to stay off her feet for a few weeks. But when you have to work, that is kinda of impossible. She was in pain so bad, she would have tears in her eyes every time she would put pressure on the back part of her foot. As soon as she put the shoe on, she instantly had a sigh of relief...she has continued to wear these shoes for months after she received them...she no longer has the stabbing pain of the fasciitis. However, she doesn't ever plan on wearing a regular pair of tennis shoes again, in case the pain ever comes back. So we are going to buy a few more pairs of this shoe in different colors for variety. Thanks Hoka for helping my mom!!

Good shoes. Run true to size. I ordered two colors and kept one. I wanted a more cushioned, shock-absorbing shoe for Ultimate Frisbee--this fit the bill. They have good traction and lots of padding. Feel very stable even when stopping short and changing direction fast.
I'd also recommend:
Ecco, Cobb Hill

This is my fourth pair of Hoka shoes. I originally bought them for running because I have plantar faciitus. This is the ONLY shoe that has kept my foot from hurting and has been a life saver. They provide excellent support both inside and out and I recommend them highly if you need extra cushion.
I'd also recommend:
None, this brand stands alone.

First pair of Hoka's and I love them. The cushioning is fantastic, I feel like I'm walking on clouds. Size conversions are accurate. Will definitely purchase Hoka again in the future.

Love these running shoes! They are so bouncy and comfortable. I use them for hill and trail running and they are the most comfortable running shoes I’ve owned.

I was curious to try these (diehard Clifton and Challenger fan) and I'm not disappointed so far - same great Hoka feel, good grip on trail and true to size.

Great Shoes! I have bunions and super high arches and have had to try several pairs of running shoes to find a pair that work. These are sooo comfortable right out of the box. I was concerned at first bc they heelbed seemed lower that the toe box (like an earth shoe) but it turned out to be a non issue. Walked and stood in them all day at a college football game with plenty of cushioning and comfort! Thanks Zappos for your patience in finding the perfect shoe!

Great trail sneaker for walking or running. It is a little bit narrow. I wear a size 8 in regular shoes and needed a size 8.5 in this sneaker. Extremely supportive and comfortable, even for horrible, bunion riddled, feet like mine.

The toe box is a little smaller on this model compared to the Clifton or Valor.

Not great! I’ve been in BONDI 5s and loves them, they wore out so I got these. One long hike and I can feel my plantar fasciitis coming back??

Nothing special. After walking around in them in the house and comparing them to my old New Balance and Saucony shoes, they just aren’t anything special, especially considering they are triple the price. I’m returning them and saving my money.

Excellent cushion, wonderful for long distance and speed intervals. I alternate between speedgoat2 and Bondi6 for marathon and ultra training. However I chose speedgoat for the cushion for everyday exercise.

I just bought these to go hiking in (day hikes; 3-10 miles). They arrived to my house so quickly which was wonderful! I wore them today and they felt great; like walking on a cloud. They absorbed jumps and impacts I was making. I have high arches and after a 5 mile hike my feet feel great. I didn't slip at all (and the incline was steep and the terrain rocky). I definitely recommend these shoes.

I've been using my Speedgoats on the trails and they are fabulous! Great traction and stability. They are also much lighter than my last pair of shoes.

This is my second pair of speedgoats and they are my absolute favorite shoes ever! From the box to the trail, these are so comfy right out of the box. I run about 6 days a week 3-5 miles on mountainous trails and dirt roads. No more rolled ankles or stone bruises I've had with Salomons and Brooks.
