I purchased, by mail order, size 9.5 which I wear in other Merrill products and most other brands and they were way too large, They were a little better with heavy wool socks, but were too loose around the ankle... my heel lifted up when I walked. I am returning them. They are a nice looking boot and the waterproofing and good tread on the bottom would make them good for winter, but being so loose around the ankle makes me give them a low rating. Maybe they'd work for someone with a big ankle.

I am a loyal Merrell customer but these are perhaps the worst boots ever. First of all they run EXTREMELY wide, even with heavy socks on - which then causes my heel to ride up and pull down the said socks - ANNOYING. To make matters worse, heavy socks are absolutely necessary because the boot itself is not very warm. BTW - besides wide, they also run big - definitely go down at least a half a size. Then, the side button is so low that's its easy for small stones that are kicked up when walking to find their way into the boots. And last but not least, there is ZERO arch support in this boot - it feels like you're walking on a pancake. Best thing about them - they're easy to pull on - AND TAKE OFF, which I can't wait to do every time I try to wear them. These are definitely being relegated to "take out the garbage duty" only. Lousy product.
