I love the coat! At first I bought the medium one thinking that it would fit perfectly because all my previous coats were all that size but turned out to be too small. So I exchanged it for the large and it fits much better and it gives me more room especially wearing a fleece or a sweatshirt under the coat. Also, a little con is that it's a little pricey.

Listen, if you are anything like me, you spent far too many days researching and trying to find the right winter coat for you. Please. Save your time and buy this parka.
CONS just to get them over with: YES the zipper is annoying, but seriously spend < 5 minutes to calmly tinker with it and you'll be set. I had problems with it for the first few days but soon after that I figured out how to make the zipper happy, and I haven't had an issue with it since. FYI: Not necessarily a con, but the breast pockets only open on the sides with zippers, not on the top with velcro like the bottom pockets. Not an issue at all, just ~mildly~ disappointed when I noticed it after a couple days.
Now for the PROS: This coat is incredibly well made, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. We are currently day 3 into the "Polar Vortex" up here in Minneapolis and this parka is taking it like an absolute champ. Any part that isn't covered by the coat(lower legs, feet, fingers) are pretty dang cold but if the parka is covering it, it will be warm. I have taken on -27 degree weather(no, not windchill, actual temperature) wearing nothing but a medium sweatshirt and this coat without even flinching, even after being outside for 30 minutes walking to class.
Specifics:
-Hood is very warm. Faux-fur on the edge is super soft and cuts out the wind very well. The built in
face mask is a LIFESAVER. Ignore all comments that complain about wind coming up from the back of the hood, seriously, they must be wearing it wrong. It is toasty.
-The 550 Fill Goose Down makes it feel like you are wrapped up in a comforter, it compresses when you touch it, but rises back to its original shape right as soon as you remove pressure. It is very warm, and is consistent throughout the entire parka.
-Shell of coat is completely wind proof. I have not felt a bit of the 20+ mph wind here, even on the zipper.
Seriously, I would not have lasted the winter without this parka.
BUY THIS PARKA!!!

It's currently -57*F (wind chill) here in Minneapolis and the dog had to "go"... I had NO chill with this parka on. I believe this parka could handle even colder temps.

Currently it is -2 without windchill where I am. I have a t-shirt and this coat on and outside I am still comfortable. It keeps me warm and the facemask in the hood helps with that. The wind has not gotten through the coat neither. I cannot suggest this cost enough for winter weather.

Super warm and comfortable. Zipper can be hard to line up at times. But it got me through 5 degree weather.

I do like the neck gaiter option... but it would be difficult to use a scarf concurrently so I don't know how useful it will actually be. It is very warm and comfortable.

I bought this for my son who wanted a puffer jacket. Would not buy one that had the parachute type outer layer. Love the quality of this jacket and so didn't my other son and husband when they saw it. Will probably buy another one next winter for them. As for my son he likes it and likes the brand name. Turned his nose up at other brands that we suggested. He really wanted one of the north face supreme collaborations but I was not able to get it on the supreme website. Sold out in less than 2 minutes I think!

Outside everyday in the woods with my dog. It's the first jacket to really keep me warm. The fur hood is a bonus. Great design NF!

This coat is light weight enough to wear in above freezing temps but zipped up and hood up and you're good to go for sub zero!

I've always preferred a Triclimate type jacket, but wanted to try something else out. I originally purchased the XXL which fit way too large even though I wear mostly XXL sizes. I returned it and ordered the XL which fits better, a tiny bit snug, but enough room to add a layer underneath if I wanted to. I immediately went out winter hiking and the parka felt great! It was very comfortable and it was nice not to have a whole bunch of layers on. I have also been wearing it while we are in an the midst of an extreme cold weather warning, hitting -45C (-49F) with the windchill and this parka has had zero issues keeping me warm. Only con here is the zipper pull is on the right hand side of the jacket which I've never had, and it's very awkward to zip up, but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
