Great all around warm coat. I bought same coat seven years ago and it still looks great. I'll keep new one for better. Someone mentioned zipper was bad, but mine is fine. Just like my old coat. My other one has received heavy wear and still is almost perfect. I've even washed it! Hope this one holds up as well.

I love it! Bought this coat for my daughter and she looks so adorable in it. Fits perfect. I ordered myself one for next season. Great quality. I can see these coats lasting many years to come. Very flattering as well.

I just recently received my parka, and I already love it. At first I ordered a small, but it was a little tight around my armpits. I went for the medium and it didn't compromise the slim fit. Most coats like this make me feel like a balloon, but this one feels stylish and super warm. I haven't had the chance to wear it in rain yet, but I've read that it's waterproof and I'm looking forward to putting it to the test!

I'm 5'9" 170 lbs. Ordered a M and a L. In both sizes, the smooth tailored lines look so smart! The color is great! The medium fit, but snug across my chest (36D). In the large, I thought I looked a little wide through the shoulders, so I had a friend observe me moving in both sizes, and she suggested the the M didn't look comfortable and the L was fitted enough to not worry about the shoulders. I kept the Large and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Zappos' return service allowed a smooth return of the medium, and their excellent customer service let me get the latest sale price as I had only just ordered the coat at the regular price less than three weeks ago. For the record, I'd ordered over 15 different coats this winter from Columbia, Laundry, Macy's, Amazon, and putzed around trying them on and returning them (some with much to-do), and finally settled on this beauty. I live in Wisconsin and we've had a great snowy/cold winter this year. The coat is warm, the fabric is great, the cuffs with thumb hole keep the wind out, and the bottom zip-up for long trips makes for another excellent feature. You won't regret this purchase.

Beautiful coat. I’m 5’81/2” and 167 lbs. I had hoped a medium would fit, but had to go up to the large, as the chest was a little snug. The large seems to make my upper arms look bulky and slouchy. Now I’m checking on a Columbia coat just to make sure this North Face coat is a keeper. The fabrics is beautiful as is the workmanship. The cut is lovely. I just happen to be right on the edge of two sizes. Medium chest size ends at 37 1/2”. Large chest size begins at 39”. Weird. What about those of us who are 38”?

It's a great parka but after reading the reviews saying it's too snug I was worried my usual small would be too small on me considering the added layers I would be wearing underneath. Got the M instead, as suggested, and I was swimming in it. So moral of the story, don't read the reviews and just get the size you would normally get. Thankfully my local TNF eventually had the small in stock so I exchanged it for the small and am much happier.

I wear xl shirts etc at old navy which runs large- I have had north face in the past and I know it runs smaller than other brands. I bought 3xl and maybe could have bought 2xl but the sleeves and shoulders might have been tight. It is the warmest coat I have ever owned and it's been a life changer- I have reynauds and lupus and am always cold. Tonight in 26 degree f weather I was warm. It feels like I was wearing a sleeping bag or blanket out of the house but it was stylish :)

Love this jacket! We had our first snow/cold day in Chicago and I wanted to test this new jacket out. Perfect! Waterproof, cozy, and warm. I especially like that the hood fits snug (not not too snug), and the zipper goes up high so the coat can cover your mouth a bit if you don’t have a scarf. Worth every penny!

Love this winter coat - true to size! I was looking for something waterproof with removable fur from the hood and this was perfect.

This fit allowed for my curves to be visible although they’re covered. There was full coverage without the bulky feel of a Parka. Very comfortable and chic.

Soo warm. I do have feathers popping out on the inside, but not horrible. I absolutely love the navy. I ordered a small and medium and kept the medium, it had a bit more room for my shoulders. Highly recommend this coat.

Love this coat. I purchased this one vs the others as it's wind and water resistant, critical for New Jersey winters. It's cozy but lightweight, which I love. I am 5'7 133 lbs and was hedging on the SM but am pleased with the MED.

This coat is true to its name: an arctic parka! We ended up in Ouray County, CO during a crazy winter storm with temps at 20 below zero and winds in the 40 mph range. This coat kept me warm and dry through the whole trip. In fact, I occasionally had to unzip it because I was too warm! I purchased an extra large because I hate when sleeves are too short. This one was perfect. I only wished I had ordered the large as it truly does fit true to size. I am 5' 10' and 165 lbs. It falls at about mid to lower thigh. It doesn't feel too bulky and will definitely keep you warm and dry in rain, wind or snow.

I was thoroughly impressed with this parka. I had my reservations due to the thickness of the jacket. But after spending the day hiking in thigh deep snow. I was warm and dry. Didn't feel the wind or the snow. Would definitely would recommend this parka.

I read scores of reviews, compared coat after coat, and ultimately this one came out on top. I was all set to order until I realized that you can't get it online (sold out and from all partners), so I went to the store and tried one on, and I am glad I did. First off, the website said this coat was out of stock except in black in store. This was not the case. When I got to my store they had green and black and I desperately wanted green. So check your store before giving up hope.
Secondly, nearly everyone has said this coat runs small. I would say it really depends on your chest size and body type. I thought for sure I would need a M or even an L. I am 5'7" and 145lbs. I ended up with an S and here's why:
- I have athletic arms and shoulders
- I have small to medium size chest (34B)
- I have athletic/flat stomach
If you have a bigger chest you will need the M. If you have a bit of a belly, you will need an M. If you have a very large chest, you will need an L. If you want to wear huge sweatshirts under it, yeah you will need an M or L, BUT it is so warm you will not need them.
I am also an hour glass shape. This is important because I tried this and a popular 3-in-1 and my boyfriend said this is way sexier and has good shape. If you have small hips, this coat will be too big on your hips. If you are pear shaped, this might be too big on top to fit your bottom.
Lastly, this coat is WARM, hot even. I was burning up trying it on in store.
All-in-all I recommend going to the store and trying it on, or (if you have the money) ordering 3 sizes to try.
Points to take away:
Looks best on hour glass shape
Size will greatly depend on bust size and stomach
Go to your store as there may be more options than you think!

I live in the midwest and was on the hunt for a warm, waterproof, windproof parka in anticipation of season football tickets next fall. I ordered this and the Marmot Chelsea and ended up keeping the North Face. Lucky for me (I guess?), we had -25 degree wind chills the day after my order was delivered so I was able to do a warmth test. I walked around the perimeter of my house twice with each jacket and just a light long sleeve underneath. While they both blocked the wind well, I felt more chilled with the Chelsea than the Arctic. While the Chelsea has 700 fill, there's much less of it, resulting in more warmth with the Arctic even though it's only 550 fill. With the Arctic, I didn't feel cold at all.
I am 5'4", 135 lb, 34B, 38" hips, slightly broad shoulders for my size. I stuck with the medium so I can layer because I wear sweaters and fleece often. There is room for layers but it doesn't look sloppy when just wearing a thin long sleeve. I don't like the tight, claustrophobic feeling of a coat, especially when it's an unforgiving outer shell that's required for a waterproof material. The sleeves are a little long, but not annoying. I LOVE the inner sleeve cuffs. They are like a thick running shirt material and are soft, comfy, and prevent cold from traveling up the sleeves. It does make it a bit difficult to position glove cuffs over that and inside the outer sleeve cuff, but it's worth the tradeoff. The front comes about 2 inches above my knee, the back to my knees. Once cinched to a proper fit, the hood stays up even with high winds. The collar is high, which is great to block wind when zipped, but does get in my face a bit when unzipped. I'm hoping the fabric will loosen and the collar will lay better after some wear. I like that it zips all the way to the bottom of the coat. I had a coat previously that only zipped part way with snaps the rest of the way down, and the wind would whip right through.
If I could change anything, I wish the material was a little softer and the front was a little longer like the back, but the latter is just personal preference and neither is a dealbreaker. Overall for the price, it's a really great coat. You can find higher down fill jackets with a nicer outer shell and more features, but they are much more expensive. So unless you are regularly outside for long periods of time in subzero weather in the middle of Antarctica, this coat will suffice just fine. A girl can't have it all, I've tried :)

I love the style of this coat, but it is so heavy and bulky. I ordered a medium and it made me look huge. I ended up going to the north face store to try on a size small, which looked better but felt too tight. Unfortunately I will have to return. Probably this would be a good coat for someone who really needs protective warmth for extended time outside, but I’m looking for something more comfortable and versatile.

I got this coat today and absolutely love it. While I won't wear it until next winter I can definitely tell it will be super warm! I love how it cinches at the waist and doesn't make me look like the marshmallow man. I also love how the fur on the hood is adjustable to cover more or less of your face. I've had the same winter coat for 10+ years and finally will be replacing it with this! I also got it at a bargain 40% off!

The North Face Arctic Parka Ii is THE best cold weather jacket I have ever purchased. I bought mine in TNF medium gray heather and absolutely love the color of fur on the hood. The best things about this parka are it’s extreme warmth and its length. This parka is sufficiently long to give tush coverage. The only downside to this parka, which is true of all parkas with fur on the hood, is that one cannot drive with the hood on as the fur blocks peripheral vision. To solve this problem, I purchased a North Face knit “beanie” in the medium gray heather to wear while driving.

I waited forever for this jacket to be back in stock in the color and size I wanted. Once it did I bought it immediately. I ABSOLUTELY adore this jacket. It's super cute and really flattering. I get cold really easy and this jacket keeps me really warm and dry. Im 5'4 145 pounds. I bought a medium and it's a perfect fit. Not too big but big enough for thicker layers underneath if I need.

This is a great jacket, similar to one I bought and I still have and its almost new from over 10 years ago. The difference is that the cut is much smaller, my old one is a MEDIUM and its still sort of fits, I only wanted more room, which is why I am buying a new one, this version is cut a lot smaller, I ordered a LARGE and its was so tight, specially around the armpits and I am small in the chest area, so I am ordering an XLARGE and I hope this does the trick. Otherwise, these jackets are wort the money, they are a great investment, they last forever, they are machine washable, the hoods are roomy and actually do the work.
