I used these walking on a 32f, windy, sleeting, raining, miserable weather. I wore regular tennis shoes and my feet got wet, but I had no issues with discomfort due to these socks. They kept my feet warm the entire time. By mile 5, the socks still hadn't moved and had stayed in place. The heels were cushioned and I had no numbness in my feet (have had hip surgery- so hip pain, nerve pain, feet pain and can't feel my feet after a certain time frame). The socks kept my feet comfortable the entire 5.5miles in horrible German weather. Definitely will buy more of these styles, along with the ankle style.

I wear these while running now that the weather is colder. They fit great (I bought size L and am a size 11 women's.)

Unless something is REALLY good, I rarely write reviews. These socks are so warm, I had to endorse them! I have poor circulation in my hands and feet, so my feet go numb within a matter of minutes in cool to cold weather when I'm out for a walk/run. Though I'm not used to paying a lot of money for socks I finally decided to buy from smart wool, and now they'll be the only brand socks I wear in the cold. These socks are deceptively thin looking but my toes never went numb and my feet stayed warm the whole hour I was outside! I love them!

I bought these socks for a very cold and wet trail race. They were great!!!! Feet stayed blister free in the very cold(18degree) wet environment. Ive worn Smartwool for years and they never let me down.

I suffer from Raynaud's phenomenon, which has limited my tolerance to cold weather running, particularly for my feet. These socks are awesome, but I still have a little routine for cold morning runs - I put them on while I drink my coffee, with my feet under a blanket, so they get extra toasty before heading out. No numb toes even in the 30s with 15 MPH winds!

I have Raynauds that makes winter running in NH very painful for my feet. A friend suggested these socks and they have made a huge difference! They are comfortable, great to run in and most importantly they allow me to run in the cold NH weather without a Raynauds flare up! They do get wet when raining but still remain warm!

These do not have cushioning. The ankle height is good. Needs cushioning on bottom

Loved my new run socks! They come up high enough so that no ankle skin is exposed to the elements of winter, but are not too high under my run tights. I also used them for biking. They are just the right thickness & weight for both running & biking. You won't have cold feet again in these socks!

I run in these socks year round. It's never too warm to wear wool socks! The padding is in the right place for running. No blisters. No smelly feet. I have some that I've owned for 7 years that I finally had to retire. And Smartwool takes care of old socks too.

Needed a good sock for cold months that kept me warm but also dry (didn't hang onto moisture)!! These are awesome. I've yet to try them in freezing temps but so far for the 40s they're my new go to!

These socks are great. They're soft and keep my feet warm during the cold mornings.

Comfortable and slightly cushy on the bottom. Fits well in my boots.

Wonderful foul weather sock for me and a great gift for others.

I wore these for a 100-mile trail race and never had to change socks and ended with no blisters! The race was in 40-60ish degree weather, and the cushioning and compression were perfect. The best part is they kept their compression after the race, and even months later, I still wear them every on trails every chance I get.
