This jacket is extremely light. Probably it's strongest point. However, it is so light and slippery, that having anything in the pockets pulls the jacket in that direction. Example: I have items in my pants pockets, so I love using jacket and coats for carrying my essentials. I place my iPhone with a case in the left pocket. This pulls the jacket to the left. Now I have my car keys and wallet on the right. Now it's just pulling the whole jacket forward and I feel the weight at the back of the neck. Didn't notice this when trying it on with empty pockets. Empty pockets, this jacket is extremely comfortable. Like wearing nothing. Stuff in pockets, it sort of sucks a bit. It doesn't stay on your shoulders because the material is so slippery. Warmth? It's as expected. Warm enough. The salesperson said on cold days to layer??? Umm no. The jacket is much to form fitting for more than only your thinnest hoodie. This jacket is made for a long sleeve T or a button down plaid shirt. You wear this when going out on a casual trip and it's 30 degrees out and you won't be outside for extended time. I love the looks but I'm still in search of something comfortable to wear while driving, correct warmth, and pockets. Previously my solution in a down vest with a thick hoodie. Probably going to stick to that for the 8th year straight. Or ask my wife to hold my wallet and keys in her purse.

This product is definitely better if you get it form fitting to retain the heat. Being that I do not like tight clothing it also works if you layer with the thermoball. Doesn't do a great job if the weather is very cold and you're going to walk around but works great to do errands etc. Love the fact that its not bulky and is comfortable wearing it in the car.

The jacket is warm, feels good, and is light weight. My problem is on the quality. I have had to return my jacket after only a few months to get a replacement. I would say I take care of my stuff rather well, and have never had any problems with jackets breaking or falling apart before. With this jacket while trying to zip it up all the way, the threading that holds the zipper teeth pulled out. I've never had this happen on any jacket, and I have some that are going on 15 years old. Another problem I had was with the stitching, which had come loose or undone. When I went to return the jacket, I didn't have the receipt since I bought it several months before and due to the "lifetime" warranty. Well I was told without a receipt I would have to have the jacket sent in to be looked at. Well since my wife did that with another jacket and it took 7 weeks for them only to "MAIL" a gift card to her, I didn't want to do that. First they wanted me to buy another jacket, then let me give them mine so they could send it in for a refund. That wasn't to my liking, so then they went looking in the store for another jacket, but none in the size and color that I wanted. So now they said I would have to turn my jacket in. That wasn't going to work, so after a long bit of negotiating they finally searched for a replacement to be shipped from another store. Almost took an hour for this to occur. I really wasn't impressed. So anyone who that doesn't keep their receipt, you're going to probably have hassles for a replacement unless you don't mind waiting a good amount of time. I should mention that my purchase was linked to my north face account, and still I needed a receipt. For a jacket upwards of 100 dollars I would expect for the thing not to fall apart so easily. I'm really sick of companies selling their products at a high premium, only to have them made in poor countries. Passing some savings on to us would be nice. Perhaps bring back production in the USA.

Bought the conquer blue and love the color. Also very light and warm, but not too warm for hiking in late fall/winter!

I own several NorthFace products because I think they make some wonderful items. The thermoball jacket is one of my go to pieces in most conditions. I use it for hiking, snowboarding and just casual wear in the cool to cold Tahoe nights. It's the most versatile of the jackets I own. I love it because it packs down small and stows in its own pocket. The warmth I get from it is unparalleled. My only complaint about this jacket is the stitching. Several of the stitches on the quilted pattern have come apart. As in, the thread is gone and the seems are just open. And this wasn't caused from any sort of falling or scuffing. I find this to be somewhat acceptable in a jacket.

Great lightweight jacket for warmth when it starts getting cold. Easy to pack and comfortable. Runs large - usually take XXL and the XL fits great. Love the jacket.

I ordered a large size, but felt it a little big. I went to a local store to try a medium size and it was too tight restricting movement, so I finally decided to stay with the size originally ordered. I live in Boston and find that the jacket does a great job in weather over 40F (4C) wearing just a t-shirt underneath as long as there is no windchill. It also does a good job protecting from wind, but start feeling cool inside once the outside temperature reaches the 30s or below (3C or below). That's when it's better to wear a sweater underneath. I'm overall satisfied with my purchase despite all of that.

I'm a casual user (I also wear it for mountain biking, eventually). I really think this jacket has it almost all. It brings tremendous warmth for such a super lightweight product. I only wish it had an inner pocket.

I found this jacket to be very comfortable, lightweight, and warm in cold weather. On days where it is sunny and above 35 degrees it actually gets too warm.

fantastic, utilitarian, ultralight, super warm jacket. also the craftsmanship is amazing, the fit is excellent, and feels very comfy. i would also like to mention it is just a wee bit warmer than the remix. i have both and am very glad i got them both. whomever designed these knew exactly what they were doing.

I ordered my Jacket on line and the experience was good along with ground shipping went well. When I opened the package and tried on the Size Medium it felt snug under my arms and shoulders. I removed the Jacket and found I was shipped a Active Medium. When I ordered the Jacket I assumed I would get a regular size Medium since I didn't notice anyplace to mark regular or active. The jacket performs well if the temperature is 40F or above. If its colder and I put a sweater on under the jacket the tightness in the shoulders is really not comfortable.

This is an incredibly comfortable and stylish jacket. I love how it feels and how light and warm it is. It is almost deceiving because of how thin it is, you wouldn't think it could possible be that warm. It is very versatile and serves great as a mid layer if you have a rain shell. The only issue I had with it was the fit. I first bought a medium because I have always used that. I am 6' 0'' and 175. The jacket was extremely loose in the chest and I felt awkward wearing it especially sitting down, it would puff out and I didn't like it. So I went to a small which was surprisingly not much different, sleeve length was virtually the same, and the chest fit nicely. The jacket is a little snug on the back but small was the definitely the way to go. Also I think it should include an interior pocket somehow. Great jacket would recommend.
