Very warm and versatile jacket. I previously had the Colombia Omni heat Tri-climate jacket for the last 10 years. I love this TNF jacket because of the down (extremely warm and light), how easy it slides over layers and the overall flexibility you get wit the 3 modes of wearing. Happy with purchase.

Warm and light weight.

This 550 Down Triclimate jacket is WARM! Mind you, I live in the pacific NW about an hour away from the ocean. Low temps during the winter usually stay between upper 30's and low 40's, so YMMV, depending on where you live. But I find that this jacket more than warm enough for my winter coat needs. In fact, I usually wear the outer coat and inner jacket separately....which is one of the great things about North Face's Triclimate design. The fit and style of the jacket looked the best for my body type (slim, 5'4", 145#). I ordered the Small and it fits well. One note though, the inner jacket wears on the smaller side and fits a bit tighter than I expected. As for water resistance and wind resistance....so far so good. I live in an area that gets a lot of rain, so I'm happy with it's performance. After reading other comments about the quality of the zippers, I was worried about them. But so far, so good....if they become a problem in the future, I will share my feedback on them and update my review.

Bought as gift for a college freshman and he LOVES the jacket! He says it fits well, is warm, and comfortable.

If live in the windy city , I recommend this jacket.inner jacket is super hot.

Great winter Jacket! Especially with the inner lining with is removable. Runs a tad bit big but with hoodie (for those colder days) it's fine. I would have hope it had another set of pockets by the chest but I guess that's my bad for not reading the details More closely. Over all great purchase

Love this jacket.It's really warm.

I like the slim profile (making it easier to travel with) and it has been warm enough so far. The real test will come in a few weeks when the temperatures really drop. I'm optimistic though!

I am 6' 180 lbs. The medium fits very well; not too snug, not too loose. The jacket is very warm. I have been able to wear a long-sleeved henley, w/o an undershirt, and just this jacket for temps in the upper 20s/lower 30s and have been plenty warm. I have not used the hood yet. I like how the inner jacket can separate from the shell; I'm looking forward to trying that out in the spring. The water resilience is excellent. I expect this product to last for years. I have two other coats from NF; one I bought in 2006, another I bought in 2010 and they are both in great condition, not a thread out of place.

I use as specified. I use the outer shell for the rain/precipitation. I wear the inner jacket for cool windy days. And I use both combined when it's below 32F. The goose down helps keep the warmth in, moisture out and wind out.

3 way to wear

PERFECT! I love that it's two jackets in one doesnt look extremely puffy. The inner shell can be used by itself, look stylish, and still keep you warm! I've worn a short sleeve shirt with only this jacket in 15F temps and it still keeps me warm, no other layers needed. For reference I live in the PNW.

I loved them

I love the fit of the jacket, not only warm but looks great as well. The inner jacket is wind resistant, and is much warmer and more useful than I had expected. The outer shell is certainly water resistant as it was pouring the first night I wore it. Very happy with the product, and well worth the investment- as there were other jackets available for a lower price but this hits the mark on all levels for me.

Perfect for cold Minnesota weather. -10 F or 23c and still keeps me warm. Basically a 2 for 1 deal. If its warm, I detach the first layer. One thing I don't like is a silly hat at the top of the hoodie. Love them.
