This is a little bit of a crossover from my review of the Kyanite non-hooded version (I have both), but the same comments apply. The Kyanite fabric is a soft fleece material. It's somewhat stretchy, incredibly comfortable, and even though it's lightweight, it is deceptively warm. Indoors, worn casually, I often find myself having to take it off due to overheating. It's a great layer to use over a t-shirt and under a shell, and I'll often wear it under my Gamma MX on winter hikes in cold conditions (-10 windchill or lower) and stay warm. In warmer weather, it's a great standalone fleece that's not just comfortable, but looks great. I truly can't say enough about it, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another (I do have the non-hooded version too). You'll find yourself reaching for this fleece every time you leave the house. For a sizing reference, I'm 5'8", around 165lbs, athletic build, and a medium fits perfectly.

I purchased this hood during the middle of winter and had no regrets buying it. This is a hoody you can wear anywhere and works well in all activities. It's also super warm.

So nice my mother-in-law "stole" it and I had to buy another! Great all around hoodie, perfect by itself most of the time and under my Beta AR.
I hope I don't have to buy it a third time.

Dear Arc'Teryx,
Do not change a single thing about this. Do not attempt to "improve" this; you cannot because it's perfect just the way it is. Do not attempt to lighten it as that would sacrifice warmth. Everything about this is perfect. It has the perfect amount of warmth. The hoody fits perfectly under a helmet and does not impede on my vision. It is not fully wind-proof, but cuts just enough wind to take the edge off for spring skiing. The quality is perfect (that's what you pay for with Arc'Teryx). The pockets sit nicely above the hip belt of a backpack. The internal 'Napoleon" pocket is perfect for a wallet or cell phone. It is a perfect mid-layer for cold winter days and external layer for cool spring/fall days and looks good enough to hang out around town after hard day of skiing. When I eventually wear this one out, I want to buy another one exactly like it.

I've had this for about a month and am almost sad to see cool weather going away because I love wearing this all day long. It's light, warm, and really comfortable.

I bought the Kyanite Hoody after searching for something that would equal the function and performance of my first gen LEAF Naga Hoody. An Arc'teryx customer service rep recommended the Kyanite based on the PolarTec Powerstretch Pro fabric that was common to both, and the overall fit, versatility and warmth of this jacket. The Kyanite fits perfectly over a base layer without adding bulk, and seam placement and venting options allow me to wear it comfortably under pack straps. I can tuck it into pants, if need be. It has a clean, minimalist outline, with everything you'd want from a mid layer hoody and nothing you don't. The face fabric has been surprisingly durable, not tearing or snagging against surfaces and brush that I would have thought would create tearing hazards.
The only changes I'd like to see are thumb holes in the sleeves, and a more structured collar that stays up without donning the hood. The existing collar is very good, but a little more form would really help and make this even better. I can't really call these 'cons,' just suggestions for the next iteration, or a new product down the line.

I bought this a couple of months ago now and absolutely love it. The size and fit is perfect - I got a medium. I am 6foot tall and weigh 12 stone 8. (hopefully that gives you an idea for size). The material is really comfy and the colour is ace. I went for the maroon colour (not sure of the actal name given). Having missed out on skiing this year I am sure that this will make an appearance on the slopes but for now it works well as either a mid layer when really cold or a top layer. Worth every penny.

One the best lightweight and thin jacket which is comfortable and easy to pack for hiking. I have been using for morning run and walk. The fitting and size M is perfect for me. The arm length is longer but perfect to cover my hand when it is cold in the morning,

During my winter military exercise, amid the polar vortex where the temperature would drop to -31 during the day, I wore this jacket underneath the issued uniform. It made a huge difference despite being so light and low-profile. The best fleece jacket I have ever worn.

Perfect jacket for fall, spring, and cool nights. 5'6/135 lbs so most clothes look too big. The small fits great! Does well I. The 50s/60s.

I received this as a birthday gift and have thoroughly enjoyed it ever since. For reference, I am 6'2 and about 210 lbs and got the L size. I frequently use this as a slightly more comfortable and lighter alternative to my Atom hoodie. It fits nicely under my gamma softshell or Theta AR jacket. The material is very soft but I have had no issues with durability. I would recommend for those seeking a mid layer that can be used in shoulder seasons, or just as a hoodie for running around doing errands. It's a mainstay in my collection now. If you want something warmer, try the covert hoodie.

Loving this hoody as a stand-alone for hiking and as a mid layer under a puffy for winter bouldering. It's really warm for its weight + low profile, plus it passes the "so soft my partner steals it" check.

I had a Arc'teryx shell jacket and wanted to buy a hoody to wear everyday. I'm glad I made the right choice! This hoody is so comfortable and stylish. I love the minimal and functional design. My favorite part is the hood, which keeps your ear and head warm.

I have received mine and have been using it daily. Do I experience pilling? Yes. Does it affect the overall function of the fleece? No. You can wear just this and a regular shirt underneath depending if you run colder than most. Other than that, you can layer up for extra warmth without any issues. I'm 5'7". 160 lbs with an athletic build and this fits me just fine. The material used is also not the same as your run-of-the-mill fleece hoodies. This one is a lot more comfortable for extended wear, especially for lounging around. I would definitely consider additional layers depending on the activity and weather. If you plan accordingly then this hoody will do wonders.

My everyday midlayer these days. I rotate between this and my covert Hoody as I try to figure out which one I like the most and I think the kyanite takes the cake. The polar tech fleece is so soft and warm it does the job as a solid midlayer for every activity I've used it for. 3 very useful and spacious zipper pockets make me happy for when I have some larger items to stuff I'm my pockets when I'm running errands and are also great for keeping lenses and batteries warm while filming in cold weather. I have adopted my friends hood and toque technique and the tight fitting hood on this layer is actually sweet for putting a toque over top of when it's extra cold out. It's not too bulky so I find that it works amazingly and is a decent tip that really helps keep the noggin warm. I am extremely satisfied with this hoody and have no complaints. This matched with my Nuclei FL creates an exceptional combination for warmth in the cold wet climate we have on the west coast of BC. It has become an essential piece of gear for me for pretty much everything i do.

Wore this as a base layer hiking up to Cloud's Rest in Yosemite with the Rho long sleeve top underneath. This fleece did the job as a baselayer and kept me warm for three days and two nights in Yosemite with lows in the 30's and daytime highs in the 50's. Great piece of kit.

I purchased this about a month or so ago and it has been a great addition to my hiking/camping wardrobe. It is breathable for temps that are in the 60-70s, but very warm for temps down to upper 30s-50s. I would recommend another layer for the lower end of the temps I mentioned depending on whether you are doing exercise. If not moving around a lot, I'd bring a shell to layer on top. Awesome product and fits me really well. I am 6 foot and 160 lbs.

Absolutely great hoodie! It is very comfortable and warm. It's my new "Go to" item whenever I leave the house. Works great as a stand-alone jacket or under a down vest or shell on a cooler day. I wore it today on a Breezy +8C hike and was very comfortable.
It doesn't pack down very small, so I don't think I would bring it on a backpacking trip. Otherwise, it is an amazing around the town or day hike jacket.

Ive been using this hoody for about a year. I must admit I really love it. It is warm and cozy and at a same time very durable. I used it almost everyday.. I love the fit - wearing size S - 178cm.
One minor issue - zipper garage is not good enough, I'm not sure why so many arc' products don't have full zipper garage.
A bit pricy and maybe to heavy for lightweight travel.
