Since I became a runner the Asics Gel Kayano is the only shoe that has worked for me. I started in Asics Gel Kayano 16 and have been in the 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21.
However, I have been extremely disappointed with the drastic changes with the models since the 21s. I bought the 22, 23, and 24 and had to return each pair because of feet pains and extremely tight and uncomfortable. I loved Asics Kayano and never had these issues with the 16-21 models. My issues with the models after 21 are:
1. The new type of stitching and material. It used to be stitching where you can see the stitches and these new tape like stitching is horrible. It presses down on your foot and hurts your foot. My foot breathed better in old material too.
2. Toe box width and height is extremely narrow! There used to be room in the toe box and with the addition of the new material that presses down and the toe box being narrow causes pain, blisters, and black toenails.
3. Heel box height is too short! My heel pops out due to y'all decreasing the height of the heel box. I never had Achilles pain but did have it with the models after 21.
4. Heel box is too wide due to less cushioning around heel. There is a significant decrease in the cushioning around the heel which causes it to be wide and not snug around the heel/ankle area.
5. Lack of cushioning and gel in the whole shoe. I continued to buy this shoe because it is was advertised as a high cushioned and supportive shoe. That is no longer the case. Y'all drastically reduced the cushioning in the shoe since the 21s, which has changed it for the worse. Please bring back the cushioning. If I wanted a less cushioned shoe, I would go to a different Asics shoe.
I beg you to please bring back the features of the Asics Kayano 16-21s. It was a great shoe and the only shoe that has worked for me and other reviewers. I can't find a shoe like the Asics Kayanos 21 (and prior).

I would have to agree with previous post ... no cushion compared to 23. The style is nice but comfort for long runs will be an issue! ??

NOT comfortable. I've been wearing Asics Gels for years. This one is a total fail. Stiff with no give in the footbed. I've come to expect the softer cushion on each footfall. Sending this one back!!

OMG!!! The new "improved fit" kayanos are terrible. They are so small up front I get blisters. Please please go back to the kayano 21 style. I now have to look for a different running shoe that are not Asics because they ruined a great shoe!!!

The ankle getting tighter is great! The toe box getting wider is HORRIBLE! The problem: my feet slide forward. The change since last year, not good.

Speaking on behalf of myself and my friend who is an leg ampute, this Kayano 24 is a sad and significant departure from the Kayano 22 that has excellent ankle and foot support and highly superior on comfort. The Kayanon 24 is highly disappointing and I returned. Asics did fix the sizing issue with the Kayano 23 that was running at least a half size smaller than the Kayano 22. I bought four pairs of Kayano 22 recently and love them. I hope Asics realizes they have a well rounded market of customers and should have kept the model of the Asics Kayano 22 and the new Asics Kayano 24. We both returned our Kayano 24s.

I have worn these running shoes since the Kayano's were in the teen numbers. I have a narrow foot with a wide toe box. This shoes is narrower around the toe box, and hurt my arches after wearing around the house for under an hour. Strange they fit so different than the 17 - 22 Kayano.

Beautiful appearance. Perfectly narrow width.
WAY too short...
I wear 9.5, always get 10 for this type of shoe. Even so, really uncomfortable crowding of toes-- too short!
Very disappointing. No matter how they look, it's how they feel. Looking for different shoes! sad, asics gel-kayano has always been good fit for me before.
