I'm a teacher and need a bag both to commute to work with books, grading, my lunch and a water bottle, as well as to use at school to go from class to class (I teach in more than one room). The size is awesome -- holds my relatively bulky lunch bag well along with a perfect bottle holder inside -- gone the risk of a tipping water bottle leaking on student papers. My one wish: that it had a slot pocket on the outside/back and one or two more pockets on the front. I like having lots of places to stash things, and having to open up the front completely to get at anything is a bit of a pain. I realize that's because it's made for bike messengers, but perhaps a revised version could be made for us non-bikers? Overall a great, stylish, roomy bag. I just would like more outside access points.

I use the medium size bag during commute to class for my computer and textbooks. This is the perfect size. I used to have the small size and all it fit were a couple of notebooks and sometime my Nalgene 1L bottle. That being said, on the new models, why are the "bottle pouches" so darn small? They hold a 12 oz Hydroflask for coffee, but my Nalgene must float freely around.

This bag is almost everything I wanted in a bag. The only downside for me is that the bags are created with the average person in mind. Being a tall man, a longer shoulder strap would have made this a perfect bag. Otherwise, no complaints.

Looks great and good size after trying the large then small I settled on the medium. I would like more compartments. the pencil compartments could be longer so they don't come out. One or two more zippered compartments from the outside maybe on the flap.
I like the space for liquid containers now that's nice.
Good quality and I like how the flap falls and velcro closes easily.

This bag is the perfect size for my daily commute. It could use a few more sections or pockets inside but I love it!

I primarily use this as a EDC bag. Lunch, my office kit, a book and my EDC tool kit fit snugly inside. In retrospect, I would probably go up a size, but my choice has required that I divest myself of some ephemera I probably don't need to be carrying about anyway. Both the construction and attention to design detail are excellent on this bag. I will purchase the next size up when this one gives up the ghost :)

I love my messenger bag! I ordered the small classic messenger in vintage rose. I have been looking for a messenger bag that is a good combination of trendy (without attracting too much attention), good quality/durable, and has good compartments for laptops and other work/school stuff. I tend to use tote bags and wear them thin, so I really appreciate how well this bag is designed and how sturdy it is without being too heavy. I also love the variety of pockets. My only complaint is ease of access to the main compartment, which can be both a good and bad quality depending on what you want. The velcro and clasps makes it incredibly secure but difficult to get into without stopping what you are doing to set it down and/or using both hands , which I find I fairly often wish I could do. If you prefer a high level of security, then you will appreciate this quality. The velcro also looks high quality but I can't help but wonder if it will last as long as the bag itself. Overall, I am more than satisfied with my purchase and would buy another bag like this. Timbuk2 offers the most thoughtfully designed, high quality and trendy messenger bags that I have seen on the market.

I use this as a purse. I'd like it a little smaller. Love the Eula bag size and have bought that before. My only complaint is that the inside pockets for water bottles aren't big enough for an actual bottle.

I really like the bag, it fits all that I need, but not that well. I carry around a small mobile office worth of supplies because I do work on the go and out of the office and like to be prepared, plus I enjoy being creative when I can spare the time. I love the look of my bag, its turquoise, peach, and yellow.
Im actually quite upset that the colors of bag that I prefer (brighter colors, blues, peaches, yellows, purples, etc) do not come in any larger size than small. I don't know why that is, but it makes it hard for me to choose a bag, since I think I need a larger bag than a small, but I find all of your options ugly or just boring. I can't imagine paying this much for a bag I don't absolutely love, so im quite disappointed in your selection.
Besides those negative points, I do love my bag. Even though its crammed full of art supplies, my work notebook, my Surface, wallet, and water bottle all are able to fit, albeit not comfortably (and the bag only Velcro's shut about half of what its supposed to). Nothings ripped or stained yet, and I hope it stays this durable after an extended period of use, ive only had it for a month.

Very durable, lightweight, looks great - I use it to carry tutoring materials, and a size-small bag holds several workbooks, a large novel, an iPad, and a large pencilcase easily with some room to spare.
That said, I bought the black/red/blue messenger bag, and the red color bleeds very easily onto your clothing if the bag rests even slightly again your shirt. The coloring comes out in the wash, but it's a needless inconvenience to have to change a shirt if I "absentmindedly" hold the bag close to me.

It's a great bag. My only gripes are the wobblyness of the main strap. It's thinner than in the past and when you have the cycle strap attached it sometimes crumples which can make it uncomfortable.
Also because I move between cycling and the train and walking I don't want to leave the cycling strap attached all the time. You can undo the Velcro each time, but this is fiddly. It would be much better to have a little plastic latch at both ends of the cycling strap.

Bought the small messenger bag to use for day trips during upcoming travel. Love Timbuk2's messenger bags (already have an extra small for use as a purse and a medium as my daily office/commute bag.) The small size is perfect for day trips--enough room for all the essentials while still looking streamlined and professional. Have already used it for short day hikes and day trips in area and look forward to using it abroad.

I have had a Timbuk2 Custom Messenger Laptop for about three years, which was a great bag but really had too many pockets and space for my modest requirements.
This Classic is just right; a little smaller, very comfortable, and looks great. My only very minor gripe is that i can't easily remove the shoulder pad, which is also very comfortable but a bit redundant for my fairly light loads.
All in all, there's a reason this bag is called the Classic - it's obviously very well thought out and evolved over a long period of development and use. Would recommend.

I ordered this bag in small - just the right size for carrying around a few folders of papers, my surface pro and accessories (keyboard, mouse, cords), a thermos of coffee, my lunch, and other random odds and ends (enough room to pack in a sweater on top of all of that stuff). Love the napoleon pocket on the front - it comes in very handy.

Bought this as a gift to my wife. I had the fortune to own the older version of the messenger (2013 or older, I think) and managed to compare it with this version. I generally liked all the updates done to it, except for the new liner (seems thinner) and the reduced organization options/pockets. I particularly missed the 3 zippered pockets. I hope it would return to the regular items or at least as a custom option.

I got a Medium size first but it was too bulky for my every day carry, so swapped it to a small and now it's near perfect. It could use a bit of padding on the bottom of the laptop compartment at least but a neoprene sleeve can fix that. Some fraying on the buckle straps occurs due to their placement over the velcro tabs, annoying, but no functional issues. Weighs next to nothing when empty. I use it daily, for work, carrying a 15'' laptop plus accessories on a grid-it, a water bottle and other knickknacks. On weekends it serves as a diaper/bottle bag when out and about with my toddler. I've been a backpack advocate until I got this bag. You never think you need a quick adjust strap until you have it. There are just some things you can't do without taking off a backpack, this messenger does it all while looking good. I'm getting a new place near the office soon, and I can't wait to just bike to work with this strapped on.

This is my third Timbuk2 messenger since the 90s, probably the most annoying thing about them is they never wear out. I have to justify buying a new one somehow. This time I went with "this one has a water bottlle holder." It also has a laptop sleeve/slot. I turned my last one into a camera bag. Embarrassingly, it wasn't until this morning that I found the long, zippered slash pocket behind the phone and pen pockets, so... bonus. The only real beef, and it's minor, is the grab handle on this one is just a webbing strap, and opposed to the gel-filled(?) strap one the last one. I do like the newer inside pockets, my smart phone fits now, and the bottle pockets are great, though, the could be deeper. Great bag. Really happy with it as usual.

I use this medium sized messenger bag for school. It is light weight and not bulky. It fits all of the things I need for school each day including my 13" laptop. There is more than enough room in this bag. In addition, the look and feel and quality are superb. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be when I ordered it.

I got the small and use it as a purse. I can take it to work out and carry my pad lock and a water container in it easily. I work at a museum and carry my iPad in it easily to take pics of acquisitions and download to the computer. It is heavier than my previous purses but the shoulder pad works great!

Durable, stylish and comfortable. I love this bag because it's roomy and lightweight, and looks great! However, unless its filled to the rim, things just thrash around in the bag, hence would have liked more inside compartments.

2nd purchase of this messenger bag! I own the backpack and a tsa friendly messenger as well. Luv timbuk2! I had an x-small in this previously that I used for about 6 yrs. I transitioned to a career bag that just didn't cut it. I purchased this in a small and I love it. Two reasons why I gave it four stars is the adjustable strap is loose and seems to go back to the original length and the loop meant for women, I'd love to have in front. For preference, I use this hook a carabeener for my keys. Having it in the back would make this an easy target for pick pocketers. Other than that, love this bag
