I use this product in being a first year Ph.D. student. It has a lot of compartments and space, yet still lightweight and durable. Highly recommend.
I have gone back for more from Timbuk2 because of the product quality, discounts during the Christmas season, and excellent customer service.

Nice size that I could pack quite a fair bit of photo gear into a small bag.

Used for work. iPad fits head phones fit along with personal items. When papers are added they do not wrinkle in transport. Love this product.

This is a replacement for my old medium messenger bag. Amazing and use it every single day. I love everything about it. Worth every penny.

My girl uses this bag to commute to work daily. Sometimes in her Jeep, but mostly on her motorcycle. She loves it! Some days she takes our Yorkie Rossi in the Mutt Mover on her bike too! I'm have been a longtime Timbuk user, now we're a Timbuk family!

I got this as a gift for my husband, and I think he's going to love it! The top flap is waterproof, which should work great in all four seasons here. He will probably end up using it a lot to commute back and forth from work and on longer bike trips. Perfect size and weight for both of those!

I bought this for myself after looking at them in stores many times. I have a small MacBook Air and like traveling light. My bag is the small size. I occasionally carry a book or a three ring binder when I commute to work. The bag has fewer compartments than my old knapsack but I seem to have enough pockets for my stuff. I sometimes miss my knapsack because I can wear it on both shoulders but I'm getting used to the single strap. The extra strap is a bit cumbersome to use but admittedly, I haven't used it much. The materials and the workmanship are excellent. It looks like it will last a long time.

This is the second bag I have purchased from Timbuk2. My first lasted me over 8 years and I only bought this to have more space (the first bag was medium and still in good condition, this time a large).
I use it commute, cycle, and anything in between! Currently used for a school bag, but also great for a weekend away.
My only negative is I had to pay extra on shipping/duty, as I live in Canada. Which I find strange as there is a Toronto store now. Other than that, no regrets!

I live in New York City and travel extensively. My previous timbuk2 lasted overv10 years having been used over 1,000 times. Great design, sturdy, light. What more could one want;

Works great for day trips on my bike, short walks with my dog and going to various meetings where I have to look half-way decent. It's light weight, carries a huge amount of stuff (I can stuff a jacket or bulky wind breaker under the flap) and is pretty water tight, esp. if I check that the little tabs are folded properly when I close it up. It's simplicity goes back to the roots of TB2 when it used to be 'Scumbag messenger bags' ... nothing fancy, very practical and functional in the real world.

I use this for work and weekends. Perfectly fits my notebook, iPad, latte, water, snack, and personal belongings.
This is great to grab and take to meetings or work lunches.

Love that this bag is small enough to be stylish purse. Love the color and the comfort of having it around my shoulder. It does not feel too heavy or pulls down on my shoulder.

I was replacing an oversized, shapeless Victorinox backpack that looked droopy and sad when stuffed. I also was carrying more than needed because of the extra space. The Classic Messenger Small is a great messenger. In all black, one could be fooled into thinking it is a proper work messenger. And while the bag is wide mouthed and one can be fooled into thinking things would fall out, everything is held in securely and with minimal movement. I'm frankly stunned at the design.
However, I should have bought the medium. My small bag seems just a tad smaller than what I'd have liked. In summary, if you are replacing a backpack, go for the medium. If you're replacing a work messenger, go for the small.

Best bag i've owned and love everything except for the velcro design. The velcro catches on to all the clothes I own and pulls the string out. It's ruining my outfits and I have to be very conscious when I place my clothes near/inside the bag. Less velcro or a different material would make this bag perfect.

Pros:
Feels natural on my back whenever I ride my bike (Mamachari). Cross buckle certainly does its job being a stablizer. Water bucket holds water bottles at an upright position AT ALL TIMES, and they even stretch a bit for a snug fit. Lots of pockets. Does its purpose.
Cons:
Not much room for very bulky stuffs inside. Some pockets are hard to use at times. Napoleon side entry pocket can still improve. Needs more options on bag exterior.
My bag (XL size):
Always inside: Water bottle, travel toothbrush and toothpaste, wallet, battery pack (ipad mini size) and cables, A4 notebook, 2 pens and 1 mech pencil, passport, ipad mini, earphones, 1 shirt, mini bikelight, +Options...
Option 1: 17" laptop fits nice, doesn't move much on transpo. Laptop charger. DSLR with 1 lens is ok, but better get organizer. DSLR gear. 1 full set of casual clothes. Good for overnight casual travel.
Option 2: School stuff. +more school stuff received from school. nuff said.
Option 3: None... go to grocery and buy food stuffs then place inside.
