These things are awesome - dense, comfortable, light weight

Good wool sock. Kept my feet warm in cold weather but doesn't overheat in hot weather.

These are great. I wore them all day bushwacking and they made my boot-wearing experience much more pleasureable.

Just like all smartwool socks I have tried before; another great product. I wear these with my boots on a daily basis and the provide the comfort and cushion that hoped for. These socks also stay put, they don't slide sown and bunch up around my feet like cheaper socks do.

I use these with my work boots and absolutely love them! I combine them with a good insole and my feet are warm and snug all day. I also noticed that there is a slight compression aspect to them! My feet are much less fatigued and sore after being on them all day compared to other socks! They do not take up much room in the shoe/boot either! Top notch socks smartwool! Keep up the good work!

Amazing socks as always!!!

I bought these for my son and the first time he wore them, I got a text saying that they were amazing! They are very warm, light and allows the foot to breathe. He was hiking and, for the first time, was wearing a sock that remained comfortable the entire day. He wants more of these and I will also be getting some for my husband whose feet are never warm. The quality of these is beyond any other sock.

Forget about heating pads/heated soles etc. this sock-used as a liner sock--in conjunction with Smartwool's heaviest red/grey mountaineering crew sock is the antidote to cold feet. Reynaud Syndrome sufferers suffer no more. Wear these two socks but but a shoe 1/2 size larger. I'm buying 7 of these to go with my 7 mountaineering socks. Relax, it doesn't feel bulky and it's not too warm indoor. Have been searching for this 'antidote' to cold feet fir five years.

My wife and I have a band in Colorado and about 9 years ago I went on a trip to play some music in Africa. The week I came back, both of the arches in my feet fell. I was in pain everyday for 4 years straight, then someone gave a me pair of Smartwool light cushion PhD socks. My pain lessened by about 60%!! Immediately, I bought about 10 pairs and retired all my other socks. Now, I exclusively wear Smartwool socks and I'm total Smartwool snob. You've ruined me, and I LOVE IT!

I am switching over from using Wigwam socks For the last 10 years. My top two reasons for switching were the Wigwam's now longer fit like they use to and the smell is nauseating. I bought my first pair of these when I bought my hiking boots. I wear these socks for every aspect of my life, which includes hiking, exercising, hunting in the early season, and I even wear them as a dress sock. I went with the PHD brand as they are supposed to be designed as a tighter fitting sock, which I very much prefer so they stay in place no matter what. However, I do not see that they are overly tight, I wear a 9.5-10 shoe and the large is an absolute perfect fit. They are tight in all the right places to prevent falling or bunching up, but do not restrict movement or make them uncomfortable in anyway. The light socks are the perfect match of comfort and breathabity for summer and early fall. I have used them on some of the hotter days we had this summer and the wicking ability is amazing. No matter how hot my feet got there was never any odor while wearing or after washing. Even on longer hikes in the brutal heat this year, I never had any hot spot, bunching up, or any other issues. The price of the socks is very similar with the prices of any of the other US made sock manufactures. At this point, I cannot really comment on overall longevity as I have had them less then a year. If I had to venture a guess, I suspect many years of use since they are made very well. I guess my only real complaint is having to buy more pairs and choose between the light, medium, and heavy socks, which is hardly a complaint!

So, these are what you would expect (from Smartwool). I got these for a specific pair of boots that require a slightly thinner sock than I usually wear. The Outdoor Light Crew Socks are perfect.

i can't say enough good things about smartwool. great company and product. if you are thinking about buying these socks. stop thinking!!!! you'll be so happy you did. i am! :)

Ideal weight and fit!

These are of the most durable and great fitting socks I've ever owned.

I originally bought these and other design PHD light weight crew socks for cycling and have very much put them through their paces using them for running road riding, road racing, cyclocross racing etc. They have stood up to that abuse so well and look good enough that they have turned into my everyday go to sock

I use these socks with my safety (steel toe) shoes and they make my feet feel great. The tube holds firm, etc. I like the compression on the foot.

Bought them as a present for my husband. Now he understands how good socks make your feet feel better and less tired.

Bought 8 pairs to wear daily for fall winter spring seasons. Have yet to wear during summer. One older pair I have had for ~8 months have held up well.
