I have used these for daily wear as well as a base layer under ski pants. They are comfortable and have a lot of pockets. Can't wait to try them in the warmer weather as a shorts option.

Great for my son's trip to Yosemite. They hiked a lot and the weather varied from sunny to snowing so it was perfect for all weather they came across.

Boyfriend loves these pants and has them in a couple of different colors. Great for all seasons. Compared to his other paids, these appeared longer than the others. However, he was still happy.

These pants are perfect. I wanted a nice pair of pants that could withstand trail brush and not be heavy sweat soakers. Well here they are! Perfect for warm or hot days - they will not keep you warm so don't think about using these in winter or cold conditions without some underwear. I also appreciate the zip up ankles to aid in airflow as well as the removable pant legs to turn these bad boys into shorts - plus they don't look goofy like some removable pant leg pants - very unassuming. Overall stoked and would highly recommend to anybody that goes outside.

I use these pants for day hiking. Fishing and outdoor exploration. Great in inclement weather. Exactly what I expected.

I travel abroad extensively and like to see the country when I am there. Convertible pants are the best as you can add or remove the legs whilst sitting in a plane seat so if your destination is colder or hotter you can convert fast and the legs will fit in the patch pockets. I have worn out 2 pairs and currently own 6 pairs of these at the moment. They are tough wearing and comfortable, not too hot or clingy for hot & humid countries and warm enough for Fall and Spring weather in temperate temperatures. Having these drastically reduces the number of clothes I need when travelling as they are smart enough for general customer on-site visits or eating out, but casual enough to wear as shorts on a beach or to a hot springs spa. I use these as a substitute for khaki pants, casual shorts and jeans. It keeps my luggage weight low. I particularly like the North Face brand convertible pants as the zips on the legs are color coded for the side (Red = right leg) which is very helpful if you are trying to reattach them in an airplane restroom or whilst seated. They also don't need a belt as it is built in and the buckle is non-metallic so no issues with airport security. The zips at the bottom of the legs make getting them on a breeze whether I am wearing hiking boots or sneakers. These pants look pricey if you are comparing, but the material is very high quality, the wind resistance is good when the air is chilly but they don't sweat you to death. Overall I think they are fantastic and would definitely recommend them to others for the reasons I list above.

Love these pants. Great weight material. They are a little heavier than some others that I have.

The fit is as described online. The fabric feels great and the style works for me. I bought these for hiking and travel and have done neither since I received the pants.

I use them for early morning winter golf. Start as long pants end as shorts.

I was looking for a hiking/mountain biking pant that was rugged yet comfortable, with myriad pockets for stuff I inevitably bring on a hike or ride. Not only did I find the right product in these pants but, as they can be converted to shorts by unzipping & removing the pant legs, I'm able to wear these year round. I got the first pair to see if they were what I wanted...within a couple hikes I ordered a second pair.

The size is a bit off. The style is a little baggy. As a result, Small fits nicely in legs, but is a bit tight in waist and butt areas. Do not want to risk exchanging for the next size up, because Medium would be much larger. Still, my husband decided to keep the pants, because of the quality material and comfortable style.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
These have all the features I want in a pair of hiking pants. Many secure pockets. Heavy duty snap closure on waist. Belt built in. Pants are not real wide at bottom. The convertible zipper, area, does not rub my thighs. Secure cell pocket. Light weight but not flimsy. For cold days I wear light weight running pants underneath. Did I leave anything out. They dry fast when wet. Nice material feel. Many nice colors to choose from. And I think they look good. Holding up pretty good so far after 9 months.

This is the amazing part:these are still made!!I bought my first of this style so many years ago I can't recall and a couple are still going strong. They have made a slight changes to the layout but I was amazed to find something I love still in the catalog after 5-10 years. They stay fresh even after a 10 hour flight (and I never fail to spill something in my lap)and most spills and light rain roll off. A little pricey now but worth it.

These pants work well for my son, who's over 6 foot and has difficulty with buttons due to Autism. It's really hard to find men's pants that snap first of all, and then length. He likes this style of pant. They are loose and comfortable. They are also well made and thicker than similar type pants we'd gotten from another brand outdoor sporting outfitter.

I've worn my favorite pair of North Face convertible hikers for years, and wanted one more pair for travel and hiking in Tasmania. I searched around the 'net for options, but kept coming back to The North Face. Why mess with success? These pants fit perfectly (I'm 6'2'', 175 lbs.), they're comfortable, have plenty of pockets, and look great. Zippers are well placed and work flawlessly all the time. No problem recommending these strongly.
