Yard work! 50 SPF protects my old noggin, had some keratosis spots removed last summer by my dermatologist on both sides of my temples. Using Nuetrogena 70 SPF Sport Face on my forehead and an OR Helios XL sun hat for yard work and an OR Sombroilet XL 50 SPF for walks. Love the venting on the Sombroilet, wish the Helios was the same. Prefer the vented hat, cooler.

I'm a landscaper and needed a hat that provided reliable shade from the sun, cooling abilities, durability, and doesn't blow off at every gust of wind. This product hit all those marks. It also deals really well with sweat and subsequent smells.

I wear this hat at the beach and on hikes and it has been great. The draw string is great to hang that hat on my neck when my head needs to dry out from a bit of sweat.

I had the Large and it shrunk a little too much after multiple washings so I had to upsize. Great hat - very comfortable and the top is tall enough not to be pushed into the top of your head like so many others.

Love my hat! I am not a hat person but I had spotted this hat for my trip to Africa and decided to buy it anyways since trip is cancelled. I am now wearing it all the time in the sun.

Modern styling looks good. The XL is large enough to fit my big head. It's not bulky and packs very well. Wrinkles disappear quickly when taking it out of a pack. The brim is wide enough to totally protect neck, ears and shoulders from sun and light rain with a shirt or rain coat on. Repels dirt and sweat dries quickly but washes very well when needed. Comes with a strap for windy days. I'm on my second hat but my first one still looks brand new (and I've had it for years). On a side note, bravo to OR shipping department. My hat shipped in a STURDY cardboard box. I wish more companies did that.

Best sunshade hat on the market by far. Light-weight and easy to pack and fold, this hat is essential for my life in the sun. As a soon to be super model for OR, I keep my vintage complexion in catalog form with this hat. Seriously, it punches the sun away from your face, nose and ears and keeps you cool and lets your nugget breath better than any other hat out there. Quick drying too should you want to use it as a swamp cooler for your head. Again, lost my original to a high-speed extraction from Iraq, and immediately repurchased a new one after I got back home to the calm sunny serenity of New Mexico. You will love this hat, so go for it.

I purchased a a Transit hat from OR a couple years ago and it has held up well using it daily for sun protection. So I decided to purchase another hat from OR and choose the Helios Sun Hat. It fits perfectly as expected. I like it because it is lightweight and durable and looks great.

Living in West Africa, it was either humid and hot or dry and hotter. The Helios sun hat was literally a life saver - or at least a scalp and ear saver! My pewter hat faded to a very light grey under the constant sun. Near the end of my time there the fabric started to feel a bit brittle or crusty, but it was worn every day, soaked in sweat, soaked by rain storms and snatched off my head by the pet monkey. I ordered another once I got home. It (and a spare) will go with me on the next trip, guaranteed. The hat was comfortable, durable and protected my head from sunburn. Exactly what I wanted it to do.

This hat was originally intended for my afternoon walks in the Summertime here in Southwest Florida. It fits do well, and performs so well, that it is now a constant companion. The brim is wide enough, and stout enough to shade my face and neck. The crown collapses enough to store this hat flat. I need another one in another color.

This my second OR Sun Hat, my last one lasted 10 years with absolutely no care. If I would have properly cared for it. It would have lasted much longer!

I've worn this hiking all day at camp, kayaking off Tofino and running around the forest. I have to wear less sunscreen on my face and haven't got a sunburn. Its light and packs down/squishes easily into your bag, regains it shape back every time. My first one got chewed by my dog and i bought another right away. The draw chord is great for a windy day and otherwise i tuck it in the top of the hat and don't notice it when i where the hat.

If you are challenged by a lack of natural head covering, and you must wear a hat in bright sun, this is really a great hat. Also protected the back of my head and neck during an August visit to Antigua for diving. floats, doesn't absorb water (floats easily) - incredibly lightweight - zero complaints
