I usually wear 6 or 6/12, so first I order a 6: hurt my instep and I returned them. Then I order a 61/2: I looked and felt like Bozo, so I returned them. Then I ordered a 6 w. I wished they were a little more tight! I guess my foot is not designed for Merrell.

The first pair I ordered in a wide and after a few short hikes realized they were too wide. I then ordered the regular medium width. While these are more comfortable than the wide, they still seem roomier in the toe box than previous pairs. That said, I love the support they provide.

I love the Merrell fit and sole but every pair of hikers I have wears a hole in the back of the heels. Tighten up the laces around the ankles is not an option. Any suggestions on how to prevent this on my next pair?

First things first, this shoe fit AMAZING right out of the box. I hiked a total of 20 miles (4900 elevation between 2 mountains) in 2 days and day one was the first time ever putting them on. I was worried I was insane to try a new shoe on a 10 mile hike but they were perfect. Great traction going up. On the second day descent, however, it rained and I noticed some slippery traction (I fell a few times). I attribute this both to wet rock/unstable traction and tired legs. Only other thing is I'm finding them very hard to clean. Otherwise, would buy again 100x over.

It's very hard to find hiking shoes in small women's sizes (I'm a 5 - 5.5), especially in wide sizes. In the past, I've had to upsize to get enough width, but with these Merrell shoes, I can get my exact size and still have enough room in the toe box. I'm on my third pair, having logged many hundreds of blister-free trail miles. Please keep making these! My only complaint would be the shoelaces, as they seem to be a bit slippery and like to come untied.

I am very pleased with my new hiking shoes. They are comfortable straight out of the box with no need to work into them. They provide very good traction especially on down hill gravel trails. They also have a loop on the back of the shoes which really helps getting your shoes on quickly.

I am about to buy my third pair of these. I do not hike, but rather I am an overweight avid walker with wide feet and bunions. These are the only shoes I have found that I can walk and walk in and they stay on, don't pinch my feet, provide nice stability, and easily hold my orthotics. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is that I can only get a year out of them before the material on the heels wears out and starts to give me blisters. But, I walk 2-3 miles per day in them, so I guess a year isn't bad.

I've lost count of how many Merrell shoes I have. They fit my foot perfectly I can't seem to buy any other brand. The only objection I have is there's little choice of colors in the Moab 2 Ventilator. It would be fun to have a pair of red hiking boots on the trail. Or orange. The choices go from dull to duller!

I have only had them a short time but right out of the box they fit great and were comfortable for an easy hike. The shoe feels sturdy and is supportive. They are a little bulkier than I expected but I image that will be good for a back country hike I have coming up.

I ordered a wide because I wanted more room in the toe but alas, the toe box was way too big.

I'm a tried and true Merrell lover for over 25 years. I'm typically a size 9 in all of the pairs I own but these felt a little too big. The toe box is super roomy, which I'm hoping is the case in a smaller size because I have to return these for an 8 1/2. Other than that, they appear comfortable and im looking forward to wearing them soon!

This is a great shoe for hiking. My only issue was the insole did not hit my arch at the proper spot. It was as if the wrong size was used. It caused pain in my foot and arch. I happen to have other Merrill shoes so I tried the shoe with the insole out of my other favorites. That insole worked much better but still not as comfortable as my jungle Mocs. I have not worn them enough to break them in but with the exchanges insole I think they will be fine.

I have problems with my hips, knees, ankles, and feet and these are the only shoes that align everything for less discomfort. I recently purchased 3 pairs, so now I'm a proud owner of 6 pairs!

Why is there a Moab II when the original Moab was perfect? I don't know what exactly has changed, but this pair feels a little sloppy in the box up top and a little slippy on the heel. I'll keep them but I'm not as in love as before.

I still love Moab, but it used to be my 5-star everyday shoe -- then they redesigned it about two years ago. I've owned over 12 pairs of the originals. The new design has less cushioning around the ankle and tongue and it's not as soft as it used to be -- the material seems more synthetic and cheaper. It's still a very good shoe -- but it used to be great.

just a tad too short for size 11, likely due to size conversion from European. Cool color.

As others mentioned, these definitely have a roomy toe box, maybe even a little too roomy for me. I kept them because 1) they look great and 2) I was leaving for a trip and didn't have time to find something else. These would be great for people with wide feet.

Since I wear inserts in shoes, Merrill has always been great for this reason. Shoe looks great. I wear them for everyday use so even with jeans, yoga pant, or hiking pants, they look fine.

I am so disappointed that these did not work for me. I have a pair of the Merrell Moab 2 Waterproof that fit perfectly and I thought these Vents would fit the same. Unfortunately, they are slightly wider and longer than the same size Moab 2 Waterproof. I wanted the Vents for summer travel since the Waterproof will be great for winter travel. I tried the Vents with a thicker sock to see if that would help but they were still a little too wide and too long. (This is even with my custom orthotics which take up quite a bit of room). So, sadly, they will have to go back. I am very disappointed.

I have a pair of Merrel Ventilator boots bought 4/5 years ago, it's the most comfortable and enduring hiking shoes I've ever worn. It's not only on my feet for everyday walking, occasional hiking, leisure activities like shopping, but has accompanied me in domestic and international travels where I climbed up and down on hills and terrains. I also use it as my yard work shoes when I kick gravels and blocks. Not only tough, it's comfortable as well, I've never experienced discomfort in it. It's proved to me as high-qualitied, and I decided for a second pair but low-profiled for summer. Having worn 4 times in walking and shopping, I still think it's a well-made and tough shoes, yet compared with my first pair, the sole of the second pair seems a little hard on my feet. Probably it's needs to breaking in before a serious hiking.
