My first pair of Moab were wonderful without any problems. Thought I would try the water proof ones to make hiking more pleasant. Totally disappointed as they have given me blisters big time and not so sure on the waterproofing .

I was in the market to replace my old Merrell's that I've had for many years and was excited to see how great these felt when I put them on. The sizing was perfect and they felt light and durable. My first few day hikes with them in dry conditions were a success and I was extremely pleased with their traction and overall feel. Unfortunately, that all came to an end on my recent backpacking trip. The first day it rained and water soaked all the way through the shoes quite quickly keeping me with wet feet all day. I chalked that up to a hard rain, but just one day after getting them dried back out, I had wet socks and feet again just from walking in wet grass at camp and the toe box getting saturated. I'm pretty bummed about this because I loved these shoes so much, but I just can't depend on them to keep my feet dry.

This shoe fit perfectly. The toebox comfortable accomodates my wide forefoot. However, I found that I am only able to wear the shoes in dry conditions. Once the terrain is moist, the shoes become high heels on black ice. I have fallen twice with the shoes, once descending a moderately steep, rocky trail and once in the middle of the city. Both times were under misty and not rainy conditions. I have absolutely no confidence with the shoes unless the conditions are garanteed to be absolutely dry. The shoes are comfortable and good looking, but do not live up to the expectation of using them in wet conditions.

I hike 3+ hours a day so I need a waterproof and comfortable shoe. Well I must say this shoe gets an A for comfort. However, it gets an F for being waterproof. Actually it is less waterproof than the Moab waterproof shoe that it replaced. Walking on dew grass is all that you need to have wet toe box and wet socks. After every hike, even on the sunniest day, I automatically put shoes on shoe dryer. So very disappointed.

Very unhappy with the shoe it's like a size 8 which it says it's a 7 And the width is unbelievably the shoe is just unbelievably too big. I'm keeping it just in case I have to have surgery on my feet or something and I'll have to have very large shoes

The inside incert was bent so I replaced it, the one shoe was very tight around the pinky toe, so unfortunately I'm not using these shoes at this time, I'm sorry

I've worn Moab Merrells for years. This latest pair just did not fit & was downright uncomfortable. The footbed & last are substantially changed. I'll have to keep looking for a replacement from a different brand.

These shoes are hard and uncomfortable. They are also very heavy. I would not recommend them. I wish I could return them but I've had them too long.

Theses shoes are very, very heavy. You start to notice after warring them for a few hours. The tongue of the shoe is also so thick it made it difficult to tie properly. If I tied them to comfort for my hike the tongue started to dig into the top of my foot. I only wore them for my weekend in Arizona. I will not wear them again. I have had other Merrels and I did not have theses issues.

I wear a Size 11, Medium in the Moab 2 Ventilator. A couple of years ago, I bought the same size and same width in the waterproof shoe. I've never been able to wear them. I bought them while traveling so returning them wasn't an option. They run small and I wish I had read the reviews prior to buying them. Several people concur that there is something off with these in the toe area. My toes feel like they are scrunched and curling in the Waterproof version. I don't know if trying a Size 12 will help or not. Right now there isn't the option to just go up a half size...it would be a jump from a Size 11 to a Size 12.

I tell everyone to buy Merrells because of my mid Moab 2s I have had that lasted well over 5 years (I know, not smart) These shoes CRUSH my toes. I thought maybe it'd be better if I wore them on a hike and broke them in, but it didn't help at all. I am saddened that I have to give this bad review. What the heck Merrell!? I don't have the money to just blow and y'all don't carry 11.5 :( wish I would have read the bad reviews first.

Hands down the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn. They are built well and made to last, but what is the point if you would be better off walking barefoot? I used to love Merrells and they are just awful now. No cushion at all in these shoes.

The shoes are very heavy. I wore them and hiked for 2 hours. I'be already felt my foot very sore doing heavy lifting all time. They are very wide and run big. Not comfortable after couple hours walk. I don't think they are what I'm looking for long hike.

The tongue of the shoe is sewn in such a way that it rubs in two vertical pressure points on the tops of each shoe. It feels AWFUL. I can't even wear these on a short walk in my neighborhood, much less a serious hike. I normally love Merrells. I've had about 6 pairs total. These particular shoes feel like torture. I can't believe I spent almost $100 on them.

I agree with all of the reviews regarding the toe box. It's VERY unfortunate the chance from the Moab's to Moabs 2. I have a wide foot but not that wide. Depending on style I can wear medium width. Merrill shoe are at a significant price and these are not worth it. Wish I had sent them back immediately. I even tried taking the foot bed out to see if that would work.

I’ve had several versions of this boot and don’t know what happened to these but they are stiff and very uncomfortable. I hoped they’d loosen up on my backpacking trip, but they did not. My sneakers were a whole lot better.

I replaced my worn out Moabs with a new pair in May 2022 via REI. I did two easy day hikes with them in July (6 mile and 3 mile) and then a three day, 30 mile backpacking trip in the White Mountains, NH in August. One the second day in the Whites, I noticed that the left boot was blown out. The body of the boot was almost halfway separated from the sole. I was supposed to stay for five days and do a second 20 mile loop, but with a majorly blown out (pretty much brand new) boot, I decided the best decision was to bail considering the difficulty of the next loop and rain predicted in the forecast. Maybe I got a donkey pair that got pushed through QC without a good lookover, but I'm pretty bummed considering Merrell has typically lasted me at least three seasons and I've noticed other brands that I use to love/trust also have had QC issues. I thought Merrell was more trustworthy than the rest. : (

I have a narrow foot and Merrell's are my go to shoes. However, these Moab Waterproof are so wide around my ankle area and tightening the laces doesn't fix it. Maybe it is the waterproofing materials added to the shoe itself that gives these shoes such a bulky feel and look. I feel as though I should have ordered the Merrell Ventilator instead and waterproofed them myself.

I ordered both a standard and wide width because I need a wide toebox. The standard fit well but the tongue fold on the top of shoe killed the bones on the top of my feet. Had to send them back. Why would they make the fold so thick?

I have been buying Merrell for years & wanted to replace them for my daily walking challenges. So far, I have ordered 4 pair & had to send them all back. They redesigned them making them fatter & bulkier with extra padding. That just makes them look like clown shoes if you have a med-large foot. Maybe okay if you have small feet, but that's where it ends. I need to start looking for a different brand now bc apparently all Merrell's current models have all this extra bulky padding.
