Ordered these and the Moab 2 (not waterproof) in the same exact size, and these were a full half size too small. Other than that, they're great; just be sure to order up a half size.

After researching women's hiking shoes with good traction for wet terrain I decided on the Merrell Moab - as usual Merrell did not disappoint!

I've had a tremendous amount of foot surgery to repair genetic defects. I've tried dozens of paid of shoes but this Merrell Moab is the only shoe I can buy now for daily use. I always keep at least 3 pair in the house: one for gardening, one for outside walking and one for inside walking. The "firm/sturdy" feel of the shoe is excellent; the quality can't be matched; and the Merrell medium width fits perfectly. I'll keep buying these shoes as long as they keep selling them!

Merrell's wide is snug. I think they have double wide which may be sized a normal wide. I've been buying 1/2 size larger and "wide" so I can fit my orthotics comfortably. Maybe I'm spoiled with Altra footwear which has great toe room without being a wide size. I thought I'd try Merrell's after a long break from this brand because I noticed the "wide" size. My feet have grown older but this shoe material felt too stiff all the way around.

Supposed to be wide width but did not feel very wide, was too tight across the top of the shoe.

I had my first pair of Moab waterproof shoes for 8 years before they finally started leaking and feeling worn out. I am so disappointed that the second pair seems to have NO waterproofing whatsoever. Just got back from an hour walk in wet grass and wrung my socks out. I used my first pair for daily dog walks in the woods and grassy paths, and this pair is a huge disappointment in terms of waterproofing which is kinda the point of choosing them. They’re comfortable otherwise but wet feet is a deal breaker. I’m not sure what changed but it’s not good!

I hiked trails on Vancouver Island last fall in sun and pouring rain. I have walked trails, golf courses and streets in Manitoba in sun, snow and rain. My feet stay dry, warm and I have good traction and support on all types of terrain. I injured the transverse arch on one foot just before getting these shoes and I was worried that I might not get much wear out of them. They have been so comfortable and supportive that they are also now the shoes that I golf in and wear to work at a store where I am on my feet for 6 hour stretches. I have been wearing them regularly for a year and a half and 2-3 stitches have given at the flex point on one she and one heal has broken down a bit but they remain comfortable, functional and my go to shoe several days per week, all year long.

I have a very hard time finding shoes to fit my wide feet. These are super comfortable and I had to buy a second pair right away.

My first pair arrived with a crease in the insole -- ouch! The second pair came the very next day, and they are great.

Ordered the wide width. Shoes are extremely comfortable . I purchased for a European vacation which will involve lots of walking. I believe these will do the trick!

Take about a day to wear them in, even though they are comfortable right out of the box. Once worn in you will wear them happily for hours over all sorts of terrain and in all weather. I did in Alaska. Husband got the same pair in mens and I think never took them off.

The shoe is comfortable right from the start. It has great traction for steep dirt hills. It's waterproof and great to wear in a rainstorm or crossing a stream

I bought the previous version of these shoes in a store a few years ago. I was going through a phase where I realized that I had wide feet and that a lot of my shoes were a little long and I blamed this on my perpetual clumsiness (sizing down and buying wider shoes for the most part helped with the clumsiness but I did make some mistakes along the way). So I ended up buying the 8M because I bought them in store and had not bought shoes for hiking previously and thought they would loosen up. I also bought trail runners and what ended up happening is I mostly hiked in my trail runners because they were a lot lighter and more comfortable but I held on to these shoes. Fast forward several years, I was hiking on some shepherd trails in Central Asia and the trail runners just weren't doing it so I switched to my Merrels. In the US the trails I hiked were a lot more developed but I really needed more traction and Merrels fixed my slipping problems. However, having not hiked 10 mile hikes very often I was unaware that my feet swell a lot when I hike! Also I have a high arch and they were honestly too tight. I ended up removing the support from them which sounds terrible but it really wasn't that bad, I hardly noticed except the inside bottoms were a little messed up but it was a huge improvement. But it helped with the high arch but it did not help the swelling. So I have now purchased these in a 8.5W. My plan is to start out hiking in thick socks and then when my feet swell, to change to thinner socks. I'm confident in this method. So far I've only worn them around the house in thin socks and they're a tad spacious but that's what I wanted. I am normally between a 7.5W and 8.5M but I have one or two shoes that are 7 and 9 too. I hope this helps if you have a wide foot like me. I'm really pleased with the traction I got from these shoes and how they held up. I don't plan to jump into water in them so I'm not that concerned about the waterproof feature if it's not as good as it used to be. Although my old ones were plenty waterproof. These actually might be a tad lighter than the old ones. They are very clunky but not as clunky as boots but I don't care. I like the grey blue ones I got, they look good with black and blue leggings and are lot nicer than my old ones which were brown. I suggest buying wide if your foot is wide.

Loves these Moabs. Because of foot issues (tailor bunion, arthritis in ankles/feet), I now have to size up 1/2 size in my shoes, as well as going to a wide width. This is my second pair of these shoes and I love them for the comfort and support. I tend to overpronate and these shoes keep my feet secure and steady when I walk. I walk my dogs on hard pavement and these are comfortable on that type of terrain, especially in rainy or snowy weather. Had to wait for my size to come back, but so glad they did. Thanks Zappos.

This is my go to shoe for both paved paths and rugged terrain. In pair after pair the fit is consistent and requires no breaking in.

I wore them for the first time today on a walk. I felt much more balanced then I do in my normal walking tennis shoes. And my back did not go from bad to worse like it usually does when I walk on the street. They don't feel super soft, but were comfortable to walk in right out of the box. After getting home and sitting down my feet are still comfortable:) Great arch support! I have been wanting a good pair of hiking shoes and these fit the bill. Also, even though they are about 14oz each they don't feel too heavy. Good sturdy shoe.

The Merrell Moab 2 Waterproof is a fantastic hiking shoe. One constructive criticism - this shoe runs narrower than marked. I had to buy the Wide width, for both pairs, even though I do not have a wide foot. I wear a 7.5 Medium in pumps, heels, flats, sandals, yet for this hiking shoe, I had to go with the Wide width, in a size 8. But once I figured that out, the fit is fantastic.
Loved the first pair I bought from Zappos so much, I bought a second pair to alternate wearing. Great support, comfortable, great stability, non-slip Vibram sole is very solid, leather and waterproof; not too heavy in weight either. I walk an average of 6 miles per day, and wanted a secure feeling, comfortable, supportive shoe that would get me through rainy weather too. The shoes fit right out of the box, no need for breaking in. At this stage in my life, I no longer bother with shoes that need a 'break in' period. If it does not fit right out of the box, back they go.

Great shoes for hiking and dog walking even in wet weather! Very comfortable right out of the box. You can take out the insole and add your own personal orthotics!
Wide width is wonderful as my feet need that extra room!

Order 1/2 size larger than your regular shoe size. I did based on other reviews and they fit perfectly.
I'm very happy with my Merrells.

These hikers in Dusty Olive were exactly what I was looking for: noticeable arch support, relatively lightweight, grippy tread, and in colors that aren't the typical "girl" look (i.e. pink or light blue). The size 9 fit me perfectly, however it is worth noting that in almost every other shoe I have ever bought, I normally wear Size 8. I don't know what makes these different, but even the 8.5 in this shoe was too small for me. But once I found the correct size, they have performed great. No breaking in, no hard spots. These have been perfect right out of the box, and the fact that they are waterproof- well, I would buy these again in a second.
