I usually got size 10.5 of the Moab but needed 11 with the Moab 2. I had three of the original version Moab.

The Moab 2 waterproof wide width shoes is comfortable to wear and they're great for light hiking in the wild. Waterproofing seems to be good so far. The shoes are stable when walking and offer good support for the feet.

I feel a bit like Frankenstein wearing these, as they feel a bit heavy to me, and my feet felt tired after just a couple hours walking around. Admittedly though, I'm still breaking them in. What I love about these are the waterproofing. I recently returned from a trip to Normandy, France, and while exploring one of the old German concrete bunkers, I put my right foot completely into a puddle-filled hole. It didn't even stop me as my sock and foot was completely dry, to my surprise. I see many people wear Merrell's for just everyday use, but I think due to their construction and size, I'll stick with using them on hiking excursions. These things are just as well-built as those damn concrete bunkers.

Yep there a great fitting long lasting shoes except for the laces. The top eyelet is rough and works away at the lace till it breaks. Also with these laces they have to be double tied as the knot comes loose after a few steps. A better quality lace is definitely needed.

The Merrell Moab 2 waterproof definitely has a break-in period, out of the box I thought the shoes were a bit on the tight side, after wearing them for a couple of days the shoes did indeed fit very nicely, I recommend ordering a half size bigger than your dress shoe size, I like the feel when I put these shoes on, they feel like I'm putting on some well made tech gear!

These so far pretty much the same as previous Moab's which have been my favorites for walking , hiking , etc. , hope they hold up as well . I find they run a liitle wide , my size is 10 1/2 E and I can wear either the 10 1/2 Med. or 10 Wide as the wide runs a little longer too , if you look at shoe sizing diagrams that is normal , also plenty of toebox room which I need .

For the record I don’t hand out 5 star reviews unless the item really exceeds my expectations. I’ve purchased other pairs of Merrell’s before and have worn various ‘models’ for years so they were as expected: good quality, comfortable with only a few hours of break in needed. I strongly recommend the brand- I’ve never been unhappy with a purchase. Tough, waterproof and comfortable.

This was my first hiking shoe / boot purchase - purchased for a few hikes in the smoky mountains. These held up very well - traction was good, and no observed leakage when crossing streams during the hikes. Comfortable, and very satisfied with performance, would recommend. Only thing that was a bit surprising was the weight, however never owning hiking shoes, I was comparing to typical running shoes.

Merrell had always been my shoe of choice for the outdoors. My most recent pair wore out so I decided to move up to the Moab. Great right out of the box, the vibram sole is comfortable on soft and hard surfaces. Some hikers have nubs that are too far apart and you feel them as you walk on hard surfaces.

I wore these on a recent trip to Clingman's Dome, highest point in th Smoky Mtns., and they gripped the ground and gave me confidence to complete the hike.
I also visited a large cave in Townsend, TN. The path inside the cave was watery, but the shoes kept me from slipping.
I wish I had ordered the size 9 in a wide width, though. They are a little tight.

Bought them for our next trip to Yellowstone thinking they could replace some 7 year old Chameleons. I have been trying to break them in over the last few weeks, they feel comfortable and durable. Have worn them for work a few times and they definitely keep the water out. Still wanting a new pair of Chameleons for light weight day hiking/scrambling but will take these along for the looks and less strenuous routes. Merrell is a good general hiking shoe source.

Overall great shoe for doing work around house or walking the dog. Keeps the water out. I wish I could find a running shoe that would fit this well.

The Merrill's I ordered did not come in the color I ordered. As in this review I ordered Grey and the rings sound the shoe laces are red. The ones I got were blueish and black.

I'm a mail man with a walking route and these are great! I did have to change out the sole inserts. The stock ones are very minimal and don't provide much cusioning. This is my 4th pair of Merrells and now sware by them.

Bought these shoes about a year ago and they have lasted longer then the last 4 pairs of shoes from other shoe companies. The biggest disappointment I have is only the lack of options for people with feet 13 W.

First time I have ordered Merrell. I had to order a half size larger than I normally wear. Otherwise the shoe seems comfortable.

They were not nearly as roomy as a different style of the same size I tried on at the mall. But they are just big enough and very sturdy.

I've owned four pair of Ventilators and enjoyed each one. I wear these constantly, seven days a week. These are my work shoes, bumming around shoes and cutting grass shoes. They hold up well considering the abuse I put them through. I highly recommend these shoes.

These shoes fit great. I like to have a little more room in the toe box so I try to find shoes I can get in a wide width. I ordered the granite. The color of the actual shoe was more blue than the grey seen in the images.
I want to like Merrell shoes. I really do. Unfortunately I had to return them. I don't know if it's because I have very flat feet and combined with the arch of their shoes...but every one of the styles I've tried from them have this dip in the heel. It feels like the heel area on the insole is in a bowl shape. When walking in that I found it very uncomfortable. I tried putting a pair of superfeet in but that didn't help.

Have only worn these for a few miles of walking and some work down in a damp and fairly muddy ravine, but here's my impressions so far.
1. Great fit right out of the box. Has a heel cup that feels nice and keeps heel in place. No areas of chafing. This is the first pair of shoes i've ordered in a wide width, and I really like it. Not that very snug or even tight feeling I had with my older leather boots.
2. Lacing and tying isn't as much of a bother as I had feared. I spend 95% of my life in slip on deck shoes, so was dreading having to tie shoes, but on this model they both tie and loosen easily.
3. Sole has a sort of banana shape, flat on bottom, and an angle on the toe and heel. When you walk, this almost seems to propel you forward as it provides a natural rocking movement as you stride. I wear off shoes on the outer back edge of the heel and since the heel has a bit of an angle to it, it hits the ground flat rather than on the back edge. Very nice.
4. Arch support is negligible, at least for me. I don't think I have high arches, but I like to feel something under my arch and with these I don't. Also after walking for some time, I found the ball of my foot was a bit sore and there's very little if any padding in that area. But there is a padded heel cup area that is very comfortable. I may need an added insert to both provide a higher arch and some sort of padding in the ball of the foot area.
5. Very aggressive and almost crazy tread design. It looks cool out of the box, but wear it in any sort of damp dirt or mud and you have a huge mess. Even if you can scrape off the mud accumulation, at the end of the day you're going to need to sit down and spend a looooong time with some tool laboriously scraping mud out of about 10,000 slits, channels, and even several odd oval shapes that get smaller and immediately get the center hole packed with dirt. It took me forever and my hands were cramping by the time I managed to get most of the mud out of the treads.
Of course you can set them somewhere and just let the mud dry, and then bang them on something.... and maybe that's effective, but since they were new, I didn't want a pound of dirt stuck to the tread later in case I had to walk indoors somewhere. I would have left a trail of dried mud pellets behind me.
6. The fit and finish seems very well done. Stitching is good and all the sections line up and is assembled very well. The sole has areas where the different colored rubber was poured and meet and they look a bit shaky. Another reviewer said that the soles came apart after 3 months. I can see where it would happen, but hope I get lucky.
7. Tongue is padded and gusseted and very comfortable. I also appreciate the large rubber toe bumper that will no doubt protect the boot from wear.
8. Years ago I got a pair of Vasque hiking boots. The big, heavy, classic leather european style with the metal lace loops, etc. I loved them, even though it took months to break them in and had to melt oil onto them, etc. They weighed about 5lbs a piece! I don't know what became of them. Then I got a nice pair of leather boots with Gore-Tex with a moc-toe style and above the ankle from Rockport. Those were very nice and are still in good shape, however with socks they are now very tight on my feet, which is why I wanted to try something else. The idea of getting boots that didn't weigh several pounds
a piece also was appealing. Which brings me to....
9. These are very lightweight. I realize this is nothing new, but to me it's a miracle. After wearing heavy leather boots for so long, these were a joy. Could barely tell I had them on. They're fairly rugged, and the sole is certainly heavy duty and aggressive, but they weigh together less than one of my previous leather boots. I'm loving this. Just hope they hold up almost as well as the leather.
Bottom line is that these are quality boots. Very comfortable right out of the box, the sole design makes walking a breeze, and really the only negative is that the tread can pick up a lot of sticky mud and is a real pain to clean. I can't really comment on the waterproof claim, though they appear to be coated with something that makes water bead as it did when walking through grass with heavy dew.
To label these waterproof in their name seems pretty certain, though I notice they offer this with Gore-Tex as well, which makes me think these are less than waterproof when it comes to maybe fording a stream, etc.
Very pleased so far. Just stay out of mud.
