I now have these in the Ventilator and the Waterproof version. Both are extremely comfortable and true to size. I would definitely recommend them!

These boots are beautiful, tough and allow your feet to breathe! I bought these after another pair of boots (UA Valsetz) started to die five days into deployment. I love them so much! They look and feel great. Everyone told me to buy Merrell and now I'm a believer.

At first these felt too big. They lace up well around the mid foot to provide support and the space in the toe area I assume is to accommodate a heavier sock. Very comfortable from the first wear. After two days of consecutive mild-moderate hiking in Arizona, while wearing these shoes,I had no blisters or foot pain.

These are an incredible winner! Foot injuries have made me very hard to fit. In my whole adult life I've never had a pair feel wonderful right out of the box -- until now. These shoes have the support I need, and the deep toe box, and were so comfortable right from the beginning that I simply couldn't believe it. These offer enough arch support for most people but not for me, and I substitute my own orthotics for the liner that comes in the shoe with great success.

I bought these boots last year in a 10 M and wore them on many hikes. They were great, but occasionally my toes would hurt after while hiking, so I've decided to order the 10 W. Very happy to report that they are perfect. No more sore toes!

These were comfy out the box, they were comfy around the ankles which was surprising because I bought a few boots in this style and these were the best, however I decided not to get boots that high. But fort those that are, these are a good choice. Soft enough but sturdy enough.

I like these hiking shoes, but don't love them. I read reviews so knew to order up a half size and they're still a bit tighter than expected. My feet are narrow and hard to fit, so the narrowness of this shoe is a plus for me, but might not be for others. My feet have become accustomed to the super soft plush soles of Hoka Bondis, so the sole on this shoe feels a little hard, but okay. Seems very stable in the ankle, which is great. The suede looks low quality, but I purchased these on sale so they're worth what I paid.
I'd also recommend:

I love these boots, but have problems with holes wearing through the "heel" area within about 3 months. Am I the only one with this problem? I have tried several different ways to tie the laces so they are tight in the heel area but nothing helps. But I will keep buying them because they are so comfortable.

Some of the most comfortable shoes I own! I love them and get so many compliments on them. The problem is that they are almost kind of falling apart a bit rubber is beginning to detach just a little. And I have yet to do much rigorous hiking/activities

started wearing these boots about 6 years ago, and I am definitely an advocate. Comfortable fit, great support, and fairly breathable for a boot. (I tried the waterproof version of these, but was not a fan.) These are my go-to boots for day hiking on tough terrain or long distance backpacking (did the Appalachian Trail in them!) It usually only takes a couple day hikes for me to break in each new pair. I have med/low arches and a neutral foot (no over or underpronation)

Been mostly hiking with these, and they are doing just fine, just not as good as my old, no longer made, Kinetic Mid WTPF, the best boot I've ever owned. There is nothing in the current lineup to match them.

So sad- was so exited to get these. Built in " foot supports" are painful. They do not match my foot shape. If I could return I would. Trying to compensate with other liners cut up to pad all the built in ridges.

This is a well made shoe. My only complaint is that the heel cup/arch support was a bit aggressive for me. I have worn these shoes in the past and liked them very much. Not sure if my foot changed or the shoe did.

These just hit my feet wrong. The arch support was in the wrong place for me, and seams just targeted my bunions exactly and painfully. I had to return them.

Wear regular Merrell sneaker size 6, but for this boot 6 is uncomfortable at arch area, so change to 5 1/2, perfect. The materials are sturdy and comfortable, feel more supportive in hiking. A awesome boot, love it.

Best Things: very lightweight; fit is good; traction, even on ice and snow is good.
Not So Good: as many have said, the arch in the insole is very far toward the heel. There is also a rise on the outside of the insole which happens to hurt under a bone.
Result: these boots are keepers for me as the problems are fixable. I have done this before - I took scissors and a sharp knife and removed the insole material causing me problems.
Sizing: I normally buy 8W, or 8.5M shoes. The 9M I bought in this boot fits well with plenty of room for padded hiking socks.

I typically wear a 9.5 in boots and these fit well. The only problem was that the arch is in the wrong place. It is much farther back toward the heel than is normal, so I'm returning them. I did try these on originally in a store and I don't recall the arch issue being there. Maybe it was just this particular pair, but I'm returning them.

Well, I actually ended up sending these back. This is a very and high-quality boot but it just didn't fit my feet. Also, I found them very heavy and cumbersome. I don't want to shoot them down as I'm sure most people will absolutely love these boots. Just didn't fit my wide/tall & high arched feet.

Finally found a pair of hiking boots that work for me. I recently purchased 3 pairs of hiking shoes and this one worked for me! They are comfortable and not give me the black toenail issue.

Purchased these as my original hiking boots are 13 years old, the Merrell"s are very comfortable, lightweight and the water proof is no lie! However, after trekking through rivers and streams, the boots have almost no traction. Forget about stepping on the next rock with out steadying yourself first. Cave exploring and waterfall hikes are some of the activities these boots went on and I really wished these had extra treading.

I purchased these MOAB 2s in preparation for a major camping/hiking trip I'm about to take off on. It's been way too hot here to do any big hikes, but I put the hiking shoes on as soon as I received them and took about a two mile hike. They felt light and comfy. I always buy my hiking boots/shoes a half size bigger than my regular size because my second tow is so much longer than my big toe, and going down hill can be painful. These shoes slipped on easily, had plenty of toe room, and were a nice comfortable fit all around. I tried them with different thickness socks too. Since I do a lot of hiking and walking, and I'm diabetic, good fitting shoes are extremely important to me. I would never recommend anything that I didn't like 100%, and I love these. The only reason I didn't give them the full 5 stars yet, is because I haven't put them to the toughest test. When I get back from my trip the middle of September, I'd be glad to give them another review. I've always said that a well made and good fitting shoe needs no breaking in, and these MOABS were love at first step!
