After wearing these shoes for about a week and dog walking with them 3 to 5 miles each day, I can say that they are very comfortable from the get go. They have a firm feel to them, seem sturdy and have kept my feet dry and warm in cold wet spring weather. They are somewhat firm on my feet and the arches are supportive. I wear a wide size and they feel roomy without being too loose.

These run small, but they are great too.

They are most comfortable with a thicker sock, but that's what I would wear when hiking in any case. I was actually surprised at how well they fit! I have a narrow heal and average forefoot - these Merrells were perfect.

I got these boots to replace my old Merrells. I have found that the fit of shoes and/or boots change over the years but these boots were true to Merrell standards! I was a bit skeptical of the "waterproof" feature but again, Merrell got it right. I use these boots on a daily basis for work in the wet and mud of the Pacific North West. I have had them for a month and they seem to keep my feet dry and comfortable. Thanks Merrell!

These are the best hiking boots ever… This is my second pair and I wear them until the tread is flat! Great quality!!

Comfortable out-of-the-box for these very wide, very difficult-to-fit feet!

Absolute best hiking boots and maybe overall shoes ever. Great support. Light. Comfortable from the moment you put them on until you decide you need a new pair. My go to everyday shoe year round. Love them. Can’t do without them.

I have a hard time finding shoes that fit comfortably, so while the reviews were great for these Merrells, I figured I had a 50-50 chance of having them fit. So I was thrilled when these felt wonderful on my problematic feet. A couple of caveats: I had to return a 9 for a 9 1/2 because they were a little short, and I swapped out the removable insoles for my orthotics because I have a really high arch. (On regular feet, the existing insoles are likely fine.) I'm also thankful that these were available in wide, because a regular width would have been too narrow for my slightly wide feet, especially with thick socks. I wore them around the house for a few hours, and they felt great! They have Vibram soles which (in the past) I have found to be great for hiking and/or bad weather. With Zappos generous return policy you can't go wrong giving these shoes a try.
