One of my favorite pair of shoes are my Merrell Yokota Ascender Ventilator Hiking Shoes. Pretty much my go to shoe when I'm not at work. Sometimes I like a full boot cut so I decided to try these MOAB2s. I ordered in the same size but where the Yokota was a snug, perfect fit, these are too short and I don't see them stretching enough to ever fit well. I did some yard work for about a half a day and my feet were really hurting.
Now I don't want to be completely negative in this review, in fact I think the shoe is actually very nice and I ordered another pair in size 11 (1/2 size up) so I do think they are a great shoe and have every confidence the larger size will be great. As for the pair I've already worn I will just try to find someone with smaller feet than me (my guess is someone with a size 10 would fit these 10.5s nicely) to gift them.
When I receive the larger size I will update or file a new review. I could see the comfort score going to a full 5/5 but I can't see more than 4/5 stars just because the size is off so much.

I wear these every day for work, tramping through the woods, down creeks, on construction sites etc. These are extremely comfortable and durable. They just shouldn’t be advertised as being waterproof. They have never even been water-resistant. In fact, they almost seem to absorb water. A great summer boot for sure, but anything more than 1/4”-1/2” of water (i.e. above the sole) and your feet will be saturated. Walking (not trudging, just walking) through dewy grass about 1” tall and my feet were saturated after about 20 seconds.
I’d give these boots a 5-star, but for the utter lack of any waterproofing.

The boots are a good construction but not as wide as I would like. I estimate they are about 4E width and I prefer a 6E. Perhaps they will stretch enough!

Very good shoe, however, to narrow for me. Reordered in wide.

I love these boots when it is dry. I have had them on backpacking trips, but no water crossings. The two times I have worn them in the rain, at the racetrack (pavement all day) and today at a music festival ( short grass and pavement), they leak. They leak in the the rain without having been submerged in water.
I will probably buy another pair, but I will be careful around them in wet weather

I want to start by saying that I'm not unhappy with these boots. But I'm not entirely satisfied. I work in the lawn care industry. This includes applying fertilizers and liquid weed controls while walking through rain and/or dew soaked grass for eight to ten hours per day. These boots are incredibly comfortable, I have had no break in period, the have a bounce to them that helps to keep me moving, and they have a wonderful cushioned insole. However, they're advertised as waterproof and this is most definitely not the case with pair I've received. I would describe them as water resistant to a point. I start work at 6:00AM and by 7:30, my feet are soaking wet. I've had to start bringing extra pairs of socks to work so I can have some dryness throughout the day. I'm not sure if maybe they're faulty, I know not all boots can handle the all-day onslaught of water. But I purchased these because they were advertised as "waterproof". But from what I've experienced, they're just slightly resistant.

They’re Merrells so you know they’re going to be comfortable. Too bulky to be versatile.

My husband and I were headed to Scotland for 8 days of day hiking, and we wanted to have the best, waterproof boots we could buy.
We each bought a pair of the Moab 2 Mids in early April.
I wore mine and was very disappointed in how "not waterproof" these were.
Now, Scotland is very marshy, but for the money, waterproof should keep my feet "mostly dry" , would you not think and expect?
Hmmmm.
They were very, very comfortable, but I honestly don't think that these should be advertised as "waterproof" and from your website.

Purchased recently. Worn on 4 hikes of various terrains. Shoe is comfortable & fits true to size. My only complaint is it is not waterproof as represented. For that reason I only rate as 3 stars.

These are comfortable and in my experience they seem to be waterproof, though not the most breathable. My problem with them is the vibram soles have terrible traction, especially on wet rock. Makes scrambling difficult under normal conditions, near impossible when wet. Have to be deliberate on trail descents to prevent slipping and falling.
Also, had to get one size up from normal.

This is not a waterproof boot. Your feet will get wet when walking in wet snow or heavy rain. Doesn't breath well very hot. Only recommend for cold dry climate.

These boots are quite comfortable, and they seem rugged enough. But they are most assuredly not waterpoof -- or even water resistant.
I have worn them through two fine, heavy rain/snow mixtures in the past five days, once for a two-mile walk; once for a five-mile walk. I stepped in no puddles either time. Both times, the boots soaked through and my socks were wet to the skin when I got home.
I've put about 400-450 miles of urban hiking on these boots over four months, and the Vibram soles are holding up very well. No complaints about the uppers so far.
The wide boot accommodates my wide feet nicely, which is great because I've done real, lasting damage to my feet wearing too-narrow boots.
The same combination of ruggedness and comfort is most likely available in the Moab Ventilator. Why pay extra for waterproofing you don't get?

I received these boots from my daughter at Christmas 22 months ago. They were the most comfortable boots I have ever worn right out of the box. Wonderful!
I wore them around the house for a week for break in even though they didn't feel like any was needed.
I then used them on a church trip to Big Bend and they were everything I could ask for. Another trip to Big Bend this year and great.
But, when I put them on after only four weekend trips to use in back after I had water 3" deep on my driveway the right one leaked,
I did that again this past weekend and both leaked and my socks were completely soaked from the toes to the heel and half way up the sock around the foot.
I notice there are more comments on this but cannot find the water entry points and I'm sure it's too late for help.?

First off let me tell you how comfortable and supportive these shoes are. I had foot problems before I bought these. I couldn't keep wearing regular work boots anymore they'd just killed my feet. These boots were definitely the solution. Comfortable even after 12 hour days. True to size excellent grip great arch support all around great boot......Except wet grass will leave your feet soaked!!!!! As long as your on a dry trail I'd say these are the best boots out there

I bought these as winter boots for the barn. They are super cute and comfortable. However, they do run about a half size to a size small. I got a 9 and I usually wear an 8.5...and honestly I would be more comfortable in a 9.5 which I have never worn in my life. So they are pretty short.
The other problem is that they did not even make it through the season before they ceased to be waterproof. We don't get a lot of rain or snow here...only occasionally. But by mid winter they would soak through if there was dew on the grass. I bought them because they were waterproof which was kind of disappointing.
I would say if you are just going to wear them on occasion hiking they will probably be fine. If you are looking for them to hold up as everyday outdoor shoes..you may want to look elsewhere.

I love Merrell shoes, especially the Vibram soles. However, my only complaint is that, the pair I own now are less than 6 mos old. Ever since new, the waterproof feature, is not so waterproof. Both shoes leak at same spot which is the whole toe area. Water puddles 2 inches or so deep, and my toes are soaked.

My husband loved these shoes for the 4 months he's had them until today he wore them out while it was wet and he came home with very wet socks. So disappointing as this is a very comfortable shoe and that is a hard thing to find. Off to find another brand.....

Have had the Moab 2 for about one month , so far waterproofing is very good but waiting for the Spring rains for the true test . Comfort is adequate but average. Time will tell if the product improvements for this model are real or just a sales pitch.

This boot is Unbelievably. Shockingly narrow. For context: I wore a normal width 10.5 in the original Moab which was the comfiest boot in the market hands down. I've worn through three pairs of those original moabs. Unforunately with the Moab 2 I had to return the original 10.5 and try sizing up to an 11... still no luck. Merrell didn't give an option to return for a wide size so I'm stuck returning these boots and paying for return shipping for the second return. Sad that an obsession with making a "fashionable" narrow silhouette has made this line of boots unwearable for my decidedly average size 10.5-11 feet. I fear I'm no longer going to be able to wear Merrell boots if this keeps up.

A decent medium duty hiking boot but they are uncomfortable seems possibly like a manufacturing defect left a slight numb under the heel area of the padding that makes it very uncomfortable to wear. I'm afraid to hike in them and since I was traveling I had them sent to a friends house and any return instructions were not saved. I would only buy in a store where you can try them on first. I know better than to order shoes on line but my size 13 X wide are hard to find in stores.

Wear these for work walking through wet grass and my feet are soaked at the end of the day. Other than that, they're very comfortable.
