My 4-yr-old 10.5 MOAB's were the most comfortable low hiker I had ever worn, but they were getting tired. I bought a new pair last year. The 10.5's were larger and the 10's too small, so I bought the 10.5's, hoping that thicker socks and an insert would make them work. Not ready to give up the older pair, I stored the new ones. I'm now trying to break in the new pair. The thick socks and the insert really help, but they are not as comfortable (yet, anyway) as my old ones. One design change bothers me: the little strap eyelets are larger and there is only one drilled through the shoe itself at the top. This means the laces will not grip as I'm tightening them and I can't get the shoe as snug on my foot. I notice the newest model has a metal eyelet at top. If this has a grip in it - problem solved. Otherwise, they will be tough to lace tightly. If these boots fit you and you can get them to lace to your preferred tension, you will love them. Flexible, moderately cool, soft underfoot and, best of all, waterproof, they're terrific.

What can I say? They're comfortable, they hold up, and they don't fail you on the trail or in the concrete jungle. Definitely one of my favorite buys of 2017.

These are the only boots my husband will wear and the wide width is so hard to find. He is on his feet all day long and he wears these boots every day. They are really tough and last forever but they get pretty dirty as he wears them all the time so thus we get new ones. He took them out of the box and a HUGE grin spread across his face.

Needed a wide hiker and these Moabs fit the bill. Waterproof, and exceptional comfort right out of the box. On the trail, around the neighborhood and in my workshop always comfortable. Thanks Merrel.

I am a long-time Merrell fan, and have owned many boots and casual shoes over the years. These boots didn't disappoint. They are sturdy and very comfortable, right out of the box.

I am a female with wide feet and structural defects in my toes. It is impossible to find comfortable shoes - well...until I found Merrell. The Pulsate was my go-to until I tried the Moab 2. I find the Moab 2 even more comfortable. They have wonderful support in the arch. These are flexible, feel great out of the box, and are good looking boots. I've worn them in heavy dew and rainfull; my feet stay dry (which was not always the case in the Pulsate.) Thanks Merrell!

I just got a pair of these hiking boots because I wanted ankle support and they give the support without looking "clunky" like the other pair of hiking boots I own. I am amazed how comfortable they feel because I have painful foot problems and most shoes cause my feet to hurt, sometimes within minutes of putting them on. I normally have to wear a larger and wider size than my "real" size, due to the foot pain, and I limp all day. But I can wear my normal size with these boots and my feet feel pretty good in them. I wore them all day yesterday, starting the day walking my misbehaved dog, who tugs at the leash so hard I have to throw my weight backwards to restrain him. I often go barefoot in the house due to shoe related foot pain, but I was able to keep wearing these boots without problem. Later I went shopping for a few hours. I did a lot of walking, yet even at 10 pm I was in no hurry to take these boots off. I didn't have the awful pain that I get with almost all other shoes, including my other boots that are similar but a different brand. I can't say I had no foot pain at all, but it was very, very little and for me that is amazing. Usually my foot pain gets so excruciating I have to sit for a while, kick off my shoes, rest my feet, and take pain pills if I have any. I am astounded that these boots feel so good on my feet, almost better than going barefoot. I haven't had these boots very long, but I really love them, so far.

I owned a single pair of these boots for three years. Each summer I used them as my daily construction boot, rain or shine. In the winters I used them as a full time chimney sweep, working on icy roofs and ladders, walking through deep snow drifts. These shoes stood up to years of abuse and are still comfortable, although they have finally succumbed to abuse. I recommend this boot to anyone looking for a highly versatile, light weight, comfortable boot. If you're good to them, you could get quite a few years outta them.

I bought my first pair of Moabs for a trip to the Galapagos Islands back in college and fell in love. I wear these on the weekdays in my office and construction sites, along with on the weekends while hunting, fishing, hiking, and farming. I couldn't be happier with their performance. I get about a eighteen months to two years out of a pair before the waterproofing succumbs to the abuse I put these thru. I am wear my brand new pair while I write this review and plan to use my old pair for fishing on rock jettys where they will get soaked.

I've had these for a few months now, and they've become my everyday footwear. The comfort is unbelievable! I've put these through hell over the last couple of months and what I ended up with are boots that wear like sneakers, perform like combat boots and blend into any environment from the office with khakis and a sport coat to rough mountain terrain with mud covered gear. I have no idea how long these will last, but when they still look brand new after the beating they've already taken I have pretty high hopes for them. Great job Merrell!

Comfortable right out of the box. These are my second pair. First pair were comfortable and took a beating for over 3 years of heavy use. Thinking of buying another pair so i can switch off every other day. Best boots I ever bought.

First of all I ordered the WIDE, which really isn't all that super wide, BUT fit my wide feet very nicely. Perfectly actually. And wow comfort is an understatement. I've done probably 10 days of total rugged hiking overall in these and they are holding up very well. One thing of note, I have stepped in a stream more than once expecting to pull a wet foot out and nope, the water just completely beaded off, no water entry, nothing wet. Actually surprised me. So I wonder about the other reviews, I received my boots in July, so maybe some batches of boots were not silicone treated or there was a factory mix up. But mine are for sure waterproof.

Purchased boots mid June. I have large feet so I grabbed a size 12w. After doing extensive research and trying different boots, these were the most comfortable out of the box. Little to no break in required. I've taken them out a few times on local trails (muddy, rocky, sand and paved) and they perform great. Would definitely recommend to others who are picky about comfortable boots. *Will update at a later date to see how well they hold up

I don't normally wear boots for hiking, opting instead for sturdy shoes with grippy soles. But with a trip to Iceland in the offing, something waterproof and sturdy seemed the way to go. These boots attracted me because they are less "booty" than many, only slightly higher than a normal shoe. I'm now back from Iceland, and these performed very well. They were comfortable from the start, with no break-in period. I could wear them all day, interspersing vehicle rides with moderate hikes in all terrain from sand to loose rock. The waterproof claim is legit, as immersion left me with dry socks. While I was trying these at home before the trip, my spouse decided to try a pair herself. She is also very happy with their performance in Iceland, citing the light weight and comfort. We do not know how well they will wear over time or if they will be too hot here in Florida, but in cool wet conditions they were excellent.

I have had Scarpa For my hunting/hiking needs for years. Over the years my feet have changed(more barefoot less shoes) so finding boots that don't kill my feet has been tough. I have to say these Moab's in the wide width are perfect. Waterproof confirmed and plenty of room to accommodate the various sock thicknesses for the conditions. This is my third pair of Merrell products and Merrell is it for me. BZ

Very, very comfortable boot. First ever Vibram sole, and I'm pretty sure their worth it. Kind of like cheap sunglasses, once you put on a good pair, you can't wear the cheapies any longer.

I've been wearing my new Moab 2's for the last 10 days as we've hiked around Colorado & Utah. The grip was excellent as we traversed up & down the many rock surfaces of Arches. They kept my feet dry as we hiked up & down the VERY wet path to Hanging Lake (which literally became a small stream in places.) I just sloshed right through. And they continue to be extremely comfortable. I did have to buy the wide size (which I rarely need to do) as the regular width was too snug. I'm really glad the wider width was available.
