Perfect. That hike to the top of Breakneck Mountain required nothing less.

I bought these about 2 years ago for a trip to Iceland and they're still holding up great. They are comfortable, waterproof, warm and cute! I wear them every time I go hiking and just around town, too.

I bought this a while ago and have been using them extensively recently. I walked 6 miles to break them in, but I experienced no discomfort; in fact, my feet were completely fine at the end of the day. This past weekend, I did 4 hikes (3 in a single day) that ranged from moderate to strenuous. I am in love with the grip of this shoe. I felt comfortable walking on wet logs and on downhill sloping rocks and splashing in puddles. My ankle was definitely supported! My feet are size 8W normally, meaning in heels and boots I usually wear 8.5 but in sneakers I wear 8. I bought these in size 8, and it still fits my thick hiking socks. The only thing I don't really like is the shoelace hooks. I feel like they don't stay as tight as the typical shoelace styles.

I love these boots so much, I just bought my second pair! These have gotten me through trudging through the woods and prairies, both rain, snow, and sunshine. So comfortable, and great grip. Recently, I went on a hiking trip, and noticed a girl wearing the same pair! We exchanged how much we both liked our boots. My previous boots lasted over three years, and the water proofing is still in good shape. I am only buying my second pair because I noticed a hole in the toe after puncturing it with a t-post, and I plan on using them for a snowshoeing trip (I need them air tight). I, personally, went up a 1/2 to accommodate for thicker socks, and that did the trick for me, but had I gotten my typical size, they would have worked just fine. I excited to see where my next pair of boots take me.

I wear hiking boots nine months out of the year, so having a pair that are sturdy, lightweight, and waterproof are key. Since I wear them around town, I wanted a pair that actually looked good, too. I love the classic style of these boots and the colors are super cute

As a novice hiker, these boots were perfect for my needs and price point. Minimal breaking in needed; I broke these in on a 4-mile hike and just wore thicker hiking socks and band aids on my toes and heels for added blister protection. My feet and ankles felt secure and supported once laced up. Great traction; I was walking on very sandy/pebble-y trails with these and had no issues slipping around. Material is easy to clean by wiping down with a damp rag. Some have mentioned that because these boots have a solid outer material and waterproofing treatment, they won't be very breathable. I can see that being true in very hot/humid climates, but I think the ankle support and water resistance is worth that potential for slight stuffiness. I wore breathable socks and didn't feel any discomfort. Highly recommend doing as others have suggested and getting a half size up to give your feet room to breathe and allow for thicker socks. I am a very true women's 9.5 and I wore a 10. I was comfortable the whole time and my feet were in great shape after. After a pleasant week of hiking in these, I'm hoping Columbia's boots hold up for three-ish years of semi-frequent use. Columbia does offer a one-year limited warranty for defects in their footwear in case Zappos' excellent customer service policies don't quite cover manufacturing issues. Happy hiking!

Fantastic boots, look cute and feel even better. I had a trip to the Grand Canyon and wore these boots for the first time they did not disappoint ! I have terrible feet that always hurt after a long day but I was able to keep up all day long.

Wow. Okay Columbia, I see you. Let me start off letting everyone in on how garbage my feet are. Literal garbage at the prime age of 28, so having a shoe that is not only comfortable but reliable is a MUST as I also am a very heavy walker. I can't say enough good things about this boot. Even wearing them brand new unbroken in my feet have never suffered. Up & down a mountain... everything on my body was killing me, but not my feet ! And the comfort is just the beginning !! This boot is durable & fashionable... I even bought a matching pair for my husband (who also loves his!) I loved hiking before but you can't get me out of the woods now we these ! Thank you Columbia for this awesome product ! 10/10 recommend (previous reviews said size a 1/2 size up which is what I did and also suggest !)

I didn't buy this boots for hiking per say, but for daily walking. I live in rural WV and need good boots just to walk around my hillside property easily. These boots do the job well. They didn't need to be broken in as others stated, I put them on and went. I bought the wide and what a difference it makes! Now that I'm approaching 40 I've developed so foot problems, likely from older shoes that didn't fit as well. I've noticed my legs are less sore and even my knee doesn't go out as bad these days. I did add some arch insoles to help aid that problem. I've worn these walking everywhere in the country and they've been sure footed for me. Accidentally got motor oil on the toe of one boot and after cleaning them a little and walking through wet grass a few times the stain is no longer visible at all. That really surprised me as I usually wear darker boots for this type of reason. I may actually buy another pair to put away for spring, as I plan to wear them all winter. I've only been through wet grass but they stayed dry.

i love my boots. I pulled them out of the box and wore them a straight 6 hours. The length is perfect. My left foot is a tiny bit wider so I'm hoping they will streach out in width a little, otherwise they are wonderful and look good with jeans.

Bought this for my camping/hiking trip and tested it out before the trip by walking around my neighborhood for a mile. There's no break in period required - I just wore socks that aren't super thin and midcalf socks and went half a size up for thicker sock space. My hikes consisted of a lot of big rocks, gravels, waterfalls etc and no issues. Tested the waterproofness when I crossed a few streams and my feet stayed dried.

First time I wore these was on a 9 mile hike through Grand Teton National Park, I went to bed with a tiny little (forming) blister that went away over night. These are great boots.
I'd also recommend:

I ordered these for myself for hiking because I'm going to a college that has great local hiking trails. When they came in, my dad ended up really liking them, as compared to his current hiking boots (hint: name brand starts with an M and ends with an L), so I got him a pair too. Once his came in, my mom ended up liking them as well, so I bought her a pair too! Haven't taken these babies out on a walk or hike yet, but you can tell it's got all-around high quality when you try them on.

Definitely buy a half size up as you'll need the extra room for thick socks. I went on a 8.5 mile hike and wore those the first time and I didn't have any discomfort or blisters!
