Over the past few years, I started to notice that my running performance was frequently limited not by my endurance, but by various aches and pains in my upper thighs and back. While custom orthotics and Advil helped, they didn't completely solve the problem. On the advice of a running partner - even though I found the Hokas to be completely ridiculous in appearance - I gave them a shot. What a difference!. I haven't felt this comfortable and fluid in ages. I have easily doubled my weekly mileage, and have ditched the custom orthotics altogether. I simply added a foam arch pad to the underside of the existing Hoka footbed. Will I still be praising the Hokas a year from now? Who knows. At the moment, however, I am sold. One more point... These shoes have very little heel-to-toe drop relative to standard running shoes. This will likely feel strange at first. After a couple of runs, however, you will really appreciate the way they feel - at least I did.

Fit was good on this first pair. Normally wear size 9 in regular shoes and my foot Dr. told me they run a bit small and to order up half size. I did this and found to be good fit. Adequate room in toe box for me. The sole of this shoe is a bit different though and took a few work out sessions at the gym to get used to the "rocking back and forth" feeling of this shoe. Overall, my Dr. recommendation was spot on and shoes are good fit and feel quite comfortable for my over pronation issues and comfort level. Have worn them 3x per week to gym for about 4 months and so far so good. No worn issues or tears as reported by other purchasers. I formally worn and purchased Asics GT 2000 and these shoes are lighter and feel as good as those in the toe box and durability. Will continue to wear them and see how pair number one holds up compared to Asics and other brands I have tried. Not a long distance runner, just work out at the gym few times a week and participate in several 5k walks when weather permits in this cold MI climate. I believe for the money, this shoe will be keeper and time will tell.

The Arahi by far is the best show I have ever run in. I have tried them all and found that Hoka will be by running shoe from now on. Would like to see so more solid colors in the future.
