When I measure my feet it shows 2E, this shoe is 2E but unfortunately it's still narrow for my feet, so basically it's not true 2E.

I really love these shoes. I purchased the black "canvas" (aka denim) with brown leather highlights. The shoes are remarkably sturdy for being canvas. I originally bought an 11.5 EE and my toe was touching the tip a bit - I almost always buy 11.5s, but have never own New Balances previous to these. I traded for a 12 D and was surprised to find that the width difference wasn't really noticeable.
I actually like the style of these shoes so much, I'm considering buying a backup pair in a different color. These shoes can be dressed up or just worn casually, in my opinion, and match everything.
For the record, I also wear orthotics in both shoes to correct a slight difference in leg length. Sometimes I can place the orthotic on top of the insole, but with these I had to take the insole out because the arch was affecting the ability of the orthotic to lay flat. Despite the orthotic being somewhat wide, it fits fine inside the shoe and the shoe keeps it comfort despite no insole.

Nice shoe and looks great. But this 2E is not wide enough. Not much arch support either. I will be returning for a refund and keep on looking. This is my 2nd pair of NB shoes returned due to width issues. I bought the other pair from NB.

Nice looking shoe...tried it on several times indoors before returning it to hopefully order it in a half size smaller for a better fit. Have been pleased with New Balance shoes and ordering online with Zappos for a long time now.

I work at the Snowiest College Campus in the United States, where meteorologists call 1-3" of snow "a nuisance" and we don't see the blacktop in our parking lots from December through March. In short, I am constantly walking through snow. I don't really like wearing boots though. Enter the 574 Outdoor Escape.
I got the "Warm Copper" color way in 2E width. My feeling is that they are much more orange than the picture would suggest. When I first put them on, they did not feel as wide as other 2E NB shoes I've worn, but the whole shoe felt really stiff. I decided to stick with the shoes and am glad I did. The upper has softened and become much more accommodating to my wide foot. The sole has softened to become very comfortable for long walks. There's still a tiny bit of heel slippage if I don't tie them tightly enough.
I am constantly surprised when I walk inside from the winter weather, see really wet-looking shoes, but have dry feet. I'm not saying I want to go puddle jumping in them, but they've been excellent in our northern Michigan snow.
Need a sneaker to keep your feet dry on snowy days? Need something in a Wide size? Definitely check these out (and give them time to break in).

I like the way the 574 Outdoor Escape fit and the way they look. They are not overly wide but I like that. Due to an auto accident it will be a few months before I get to put both on and test them on a trail. A broken leg limits me to wearing one shoe, thus rendering me unable to give a true, full review. Insert frowny face. I hope to heal asap so I can take these bad boys out. I love the copper/black color combination. The use of ripstop material is a refreshing surprise, adding unique flair to an already independent, adventurous feel.

These are great shoes. I bought them as "dress-up sneakers" (as opposed to my "gym sneakers" or my "walk the dog sneakers"). They have a super unique look and great color scheme. The shoes are high quality and after wearing them for a few months, there is still no wear and the tread is still in great shape.
I have two minor criticisms (1) the shoes feel a little narrower than marker. I bought them with width EE but they were a bit tight until broken in. This only took a few wears but something look out for if your foot width is particular.
(2) These shoes are heavy and don't breath that well so they might not be the best choice for exercise in the heat but they've done fine for a mile or two in the Southern US heat.

I love the NB 574 in red. The wear well and support my flat feet perfectly. I've worn this style at work for years. I walk an average of 5 miles a day at work. The toe box is wide enough to not squish my toes!
