Returned. The color of the shoe pictured when ordered was not the color of the shoe I received. Happened twice. Not sure what is going on with the Free People Royale Flat.

This shoe has been worn before. I can tell from the bottom of the shoe. I ordered size 37, my usual size when I order EU sizing. These are so big. I also ordered a pair in what Zappos calls Flat Brown (I think it is more taupe or very light beige), in a 37, and the fit is very good. I am returning this pair for a pair of unworn shoes.

I ordered 3 pairs of these shoes (same size, two colors) and they all felt different. The black was more matte than the photo suggested and the red was more of a brown red. The reds had discolored areas that were more "brown" as if the dye job had been done poorly. After walking around my home for a short amount of time, I realized these shoes are cute but have no support. Shoes that aren't comfortable are unacceptable to keep, no matter how much I like the style (I loved the style). I have extremely high arches from ballet. Also, limited traction on the bottoms was unacceptable, particularly at this price point. Overall, really disappointing.

I bought these shoes for a specific reason - the cut out opening would enable me to wear without putting pressure on a side wound that needed no pressure. It did that. And yes, it is a leather top. The length of the 6 1/2 was short - so that after a few hours, I had a hell rub.
The key reason for my review is to share with you that the soles have no support and do not bend. Think asphalt road flat and no give. Not even a "break it in" bending. Maybe, I got a dud. These are unwearable. The only way to move is to stomp down. Zappos needs to look at these shoes and perhaps the brand. And for $198, a cheap watercolor pain of these rock-hard soles. Caveat emptor

I absolutely love these I got them in red and they really are an eye catcher! I wear with ankle jeans and when I wear dresses to work and they look and feel fabulous!
