I wear a size 9 and the 40 was the best fit, but I could have swung a half size either way. A little narrow toward the toe but not uncomfortable. Very cute shoe.

I’ve been wanting these shoes for quite some time. I’m so glad I finally got them!!! They are not the most comfortable shoe I have had but they aren’t bad and I think they will get better the more I wear them. I usually wear an 8 and 38 is usually too small and 39 too big so I was so happy these came in 38.5. They fit perfectly!! These shoes are so fun to wear because they go with so many outfits and they are so “stinkin cute!!! I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on them. I do wish they had a little more arch support for my high arches though. The leather is soft and I can wear these without socks and my feet don’t sweat. Give them a try you just might fall in love with them like I did.

I'm European 39, USA 8.5 in every type of shoes. Ordered this in 39 but felt little snug in toes. I think half size up would be perfect. The color is darker than I thought so decided to return.

First, let me start by saying that these shoes/booties are freakin adorable! I initially hesitated to purchase because of price however, I kept looking at them in my wishlist and decided to take the leap. I bought the grey and absolutely love the color. I'm a size 9 and originally ordered the 39, had to return those (thank you Zappos for the quick turnaround) and ordered the 39.5, they fit PERFECT. The leather is very soft and fits your foot like a glove. Like others, I was concerned about how the back of the shoe and my ankle might get along, rest assured...they are great friends. I would recommend these unique show-stoppers to anyone considering.

These transitional shoes are fabulously soft and adorable on my foot. They do however run small - I'm a solid 8.5 which usually translates to 39 in EU sizing. Zappos recommended 38.5 which is a joke. I ended up with 39.5 and while it's still a bit narrower than I prefer, I'm afraid going up to a 40 will be too long. Hopefully they will stretch since they are a unique and versatile shoe and I can see a lot of use for them!

Overall, the fit was good. But by the end of the day, I did have a large blister on my big toe... The shoes are beautiful and go with almost everything but take some getting used to. I am glad I added them to my collection though.

I purchased 1 black pair and 1 whiskey taupe pair of the Free People Flat Royale shoe in a size 38. The black pair fit no problem but the whiskey taupe pair felt very sloppy on my feet like someone had worn them and stretched them out although the shoes do not show any wear. The whiskey taupe pair is not the color shown on the order site, it is really just taupe and the label on the shoe box says taupe not whiskey taupe. I am returning the (whiskey) taupe pair in hopes I get a truer color and the right size. I also purchased at the same time a pair of the same shoe in a different brand called DIBA.True. The DIBA.True shoe is considerably cheaper, feels more comfortable but has some differences. While the Free People shoe is a mat leather the DIBA shoe is a bit shinier and slicker leather, the Free People shoe has a more pointed toe where as the DIBA shoe is a little rounder. I prefer the more pointed toe and the mat leather but to my eye there doesn't seem to be any difference in the quality of the DIBA shoe as opposed to the Free People brand. I have attached a picture to show the difference in color of the pair of shoes I received as opposed to the color that is shown on this site and I ordered.

Color “Brown” is more like a Tan.

Third time the charm, almost. I always wear a size 10, 40 in this product. So, that is what I ordered. Left shoe too tight, right OK, returned. Ordered 40.5, same exact problem,no difference than the 40, returned. Ordered 41, left foot perfect, right shoe a tad too big. Decided to keep. Black leather so beautiful, soft, oozes money which is good because they are not inexpensive. So why did I keep on trying to find a pair that fit. I feel it's like falling in love with a gorgeous guy who you know is no good. Fabulous design, great leather, and ALMOST a perfect fit. And then there is Zappos, bound and determined to make a sale and make us happy. Thaks Zap, I will keep on buying.

Style and fit were great! Color, not really the brown pictured. It is more like a taupe. I'l be exchanging for Whiskey Taupe? which is really a rich deep caramel brown.

These are gorgeous shoes....however I ordered the Brown, which is actually much closer to a tan color so will be returning them to get the Whiskey color.

Really loved this shoe; the color, the style. Unfortunately you cannot wear socks with it due to the styling, and that just wasn't practical enough for where I live (cold).

Sadly, these were not comfortable for my feet. Loved the look and leather quality felt great. Toe box too tight and arch area too far forward for my feet. Almost no padding in sole, so found them uncomfortable. So many reviewers found them comfortable that I wanted to love them. At this price point, did not want to take the chance that they would not break in to be more comfortable.

I love the shoes but the color whiskey taupe which I ordered is no way near the color shown on screen. That is very disappointing to me. I do not have time to return.

These were super hard to get on the very first time I tried...but, commit to getting them on and wearing them around a bit and they loosen up and turn out to be pretty comfortable (and much easier to get on and off after the first time).

I love this shoe, I bought in black first and they are so comfy. I bought in the brown as well but like other people have said - it took a couple tries to get a pair that looked like they matched in brown and also the color is much lighter than pictured!

These were absolutely beautiful and possibly the cutest booties I ever tried on but they were not comfortable for me. I have a slightly narrow foot so couldn’t have sized up. I wish they made them in narrow.

Rubbed the inside of my ankle too much, would likely form a blister.

The color is definitely not a brown like the picture display. The color matches the beige suede version of this shoe more. I was initially put off because the color is nothing like the picture, however the feel and style of this shoe is amazing, so I kept them.

These are awesome shoes, but they fit a half size small and need to be broken in!

These shoes are cute and pretty comfortable, even without socks. I was bummed with the color, though. The canary reads tan to me, not yellow. I really wanted yellow but I did keep these because they are comfortable and versatile.

These are the cutest shoes and receive compliments each and every time I wear them. I purchased the "brown" in a size 38.5. I normally wear an 8-8.5 depending on brand. However I ordered the 39 first as that was what was recommended however, those were big. Note that the color "brown" is much lighter colored than in photo. It's really more of a tan color but is the perfect neutral color that matches and goes with everything from shorts, jeans, pants and dresses.

Super soft leather! There is a seam that runs along the top of the shoe. I thought it might irritate and rub the top of my foot but so far no problems. Shoe gets more comfortable the more I wear. Super cute and stylish, goes with everything (got the color brown which is lighter than in photos) and many compliments!

I love the style of these shoes. However I ordered the darker brown pair and they came more of a camel brown. There should not be an option for the true brown if that color shoe does not exist.
