Sometimes I wonder how a company can put a product out into the world when it seems like no one has even tried it. While these shoes look great and the footbed is super comfortable, the are so stiff in the back that just wearing them around the house for a few minutes rubbed my achilles heel raw. I wonder if these can even be worn in they're so painful. Returning them.

I wish I could wear these shoes. To preface this review, I have a realllly hard time finding shoes that don't completely cut up the backs of my heels/ankles, so if you don't have that problem, then these shoes may be great for you. But I read in a lot of other reviews for various shoes of people complaining about this problem, so that why I'm posting. I had (technically still have) a pair of the first Avalons that Toms released. They took a few wears to break in, but once they had ... my gosh, they were some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They have pretty much met their death at this point, but they were already worse for wear this spring, which is why I ordered a new pair to replace them. However, despite the fact that I have worn them at least 30 times since then, I can still barely walk without a ridiculous amount of pain and, if I ignore it, my heels are bleeding within 10 minutes of starting off. I'm not sure what it is about this different fabric or construction, but I simply cannot wear them. I'm also not a fan of the insole; my original pair were more padded, and the fabric was more sueded which stopped my foot from sliding around so much. In summary, I do love Toms, some of my favorite and most comfortable shoes have come from them, and I will continue buying the classics and possibly other styles, but these Avalons are just uncomfortable to the extreme.

too wide and long- felt sloppy. Tried 1/2 size smaller and still too wide. Cute shoe, but sadly will return.

I really was looking forward to loving these shoes...but they tore up my feet horribly after the first time of wearing them. I put padding and bandaids - nothing helped. I'm hoping to stretch them out a the shoe repair - hopefully that will solve the problem. They look great though - just wish they felt that way too.

Wide and short

I have had these exact shoes in the past and loved them. They were so comfortable with a cushy but supportive feel. I just got a new pair and they are not nearly as good as they used to be. They feel cheaper, with more stiff material, and not nearly as comfortable. I'm bummed and returning them.

The fit was fine for my wide foot. However, the fabric was so rough and stiff that I developed blisters around my ankle and the sides of both feet. I really wanted to love these, but they tore up my feet after only a couple hours of wear. Sadly returning them.

Not the usual comfortable Tom's shoe The toe area is rounded, does not have the Tom's "pleat", which makes it look boxy, like other slip on sneakers The back/heel area is too high, hits at the wrong place, seems like a blister waiting to happen I was expecting a stiff canvas, as it's coated, but it is so in an unpleasant way I will be returning them

These were the worst purchase ever. I have only worn them once and they destroyed my heels and the soles of the shoes is already ripping.

I never saw such a cheaply made pair of shoes before. I returned them immediately.

Cute shoe, but did not fit me well. The sides of the shoe came up too high and the back hit my heel in a very uncomfortable spot.

Wow I am so disappointed in this shoe! The upper is SO STIFF I could barely get my foot in. It's amazing that they even sell this shoe and expect people to wear it. I'm not sure how you could. There is no give at all. Plus the material is scratchy. I don't know how you could wear them without socks. I love TOMS. Super disappointed.
