The V3 does not fit like the V1 and V2. I have used these shoes for 8 years since I had plantar fasciitis way back when, and these are the only brand I could use for running. Versions 1 & 2 fit the same. I bought the V3 and they fit more narrowly on the sides, and my heel slips out of the back a bit, which required me to use the final shoelace holes in order to keep them on. This was never an issue with the first two versions. I guess I will be looking at other brands. I tend to buy 4 pairs at a time because these are a little more difficult to find since they are a high number on the support side. Bad design, New Balance. Go back to the old fitting.

Very nice looking shoes. My orthotics fit well in them, and so did my bunions. They are nice and light. However, the insole could use more cush, and they are stiff and make a cloppy sound when walking. I will be returning.

Big fan of the 800 series and 711's. The 880's actually pivot you forward when walking or running and I really like the comfort, too. When I put the latest in the 900 series on, though very stylish, the fit just felt wrong. The arch support was in the wrong place and the toe box though roomy, wasn't comfortable. Think it has to do with where the cushioning was built into the sole because I take out the insert (I wear a prosthetic). Loved the colors and the patent detail on the exterior but not enough to keep a shoe that isn't as comfortable as the 800 series (I own 7 pairs of new 860's & 880's and rotate them each day-I'm at the gym 2-3 hrs a day, every day, so it's necessary to switch out my kicks frequently).

Right one felt great, left one felt like it had an arch on the outside of my foot? Could have been good but because they didn’t feel the same on both feet they have to go back. I have never had that happen before, usually no problems with New Balance.

Nice looking, but not nearly as cushioned as I need. Also, the heel-end of the shoe is not very deep. It's cut lower than other NB sneakers that I have - and I have about four pairs. Think I finally may have to try other brands' for running/walking sneakers, unfortunately.

I wear 9.5 & w/ this style & placing my orthotics, it felt like 10. Then i reordered & got 9, but it still had too much space. So, now for the 3rd try, i'm going to order 8.5, but i have this feeling w/ my orthotics, it will be too snug. I've NEVER had this issue w/ any shoe in the past 20yrs of buying running shoes, so i'm a bit baffled on the inconsistency of sizing.

Disgusted with New Balance this was the company I always went to in the past. Wear women 12 1/2 AA since no-one makes 12 1/2 need sz 13, which I deal with. But they are now making the toe box so sallow it presses against my big toes. This is 5th style I've tried and are claiming this is for diabetics who have burning nerve toes so need fuller toe box. Never had problem with old New Balance. Please go back to serious walking running shoes and forget the fancy designs. will have to send these back too I'm grateful Zappo is so understanding on returns

I had previously worn the 860v8 and wanted to try the 940v3 as recommended in a New Balance store for over pronation. I noticed after the 3rd wear the piling up at the back of both heels.

I ordered the silver/white/orange. The soles are definitely orange, and the coloring on the shoe is a coral orange color; very attractive. I tried this shoe with my Birkenstock orthotics. I needed to remove the insoles and use a flatter one. The W940v3's insole does not have much, if any, of an arch support. I usually wear an 8 but ordered an 8 1/2 because of reviews. The shoe was a just ok width in the toe box so if you need a roomier toe box, a medium width may not be wide enough. I tried them on the treadmill. The shoe feels very comfortable but the sole is so stiff that it is hard to push off with the toes; it was more like a slap or a slide. This makes for a weird walk/jog. These will be returned.

I'm sad to return these sneakers but I'm beginning to think that NB of today is not the NB of a few years ago. I've tried 3 different pairs of wide and none are as wide as the pair I bought a year or so ago. Thanks Zappos for your awesome customer support and return policy!!

As many New Balance shoes, this one runs short. With my narrow feet, the next size up makes them too wide. I chose instead the Saucony Omni 16.

this is the first time trying this style although i have been a new balance customer for many years. although they aren't bad enough to justify my sending them back, i am not real satisfied. the toe bed is wide enough but it feels pretty snug across my instep. the laces seem rather short so loosening them is not an option. i am hoping with a little more wear they stretch some. i definitely do NOT like the fact that when you slip your foot in the fabric at the heel rolls down into the shoe making it feel like an uncomfortable lump rubbing against my heel. i have to keep pulling my foot in and out to get it to sit the way it should. i suppose a shoe horn would be the only way to avoid this. would i buy them again? nope.

I loved the W940V2, but this new 940V3 is a big disappointment. It is slightly smaller, the webbing on top of the toe box is too tight to accommodate my hammertoe, and the shoe is really stiff and uncomfortable -- much less flexible. The old version was perfect. Why oh why did they change it?

I'm at a loss. The NB brand was the only one that fit my foot and accommodated my high hammertoe --

I've always worn 6 WW in New Balance but not this style! The 6 WW was too short and too narrow. The 7 WW is too long and too wide. No longer consistent sizing.

I am slightly disappointed in this pair of New Balance. They are not as comfortable as I had hoped and the heel is a bit tooo big. The style is nice and I was in need of athletic shoes so I am keeping this pair but for the money I wish they were more comfortable.

I agree with the other reviewer who said these shoes were hard - and they were for me. Too hard and not enough cushioning. My feet ached after the first mile, especially in the ball of foot area. And they really DO make a plastic, clunky sound when walking! Had to return. Back to the search for just the right shoe.

I have enormous feet so it is very hard to find anything that fits.
I usually order Asic's in size 12 1/5 w. But New Balance goes right from 12 to 13. I got 13 and hoped for the best. Nope, too big. I bet 12 will be too small. I also noticed the back and sides of the shoe are very shallow so they slide up and down when I walked. The front of the shoe is very rounded instead of tapered so my feet look even bigger. And the white on the sole is like an big glowing sign just meant to point out and magnify my big feet. I can't wait to send them back

This is an attractive shoe and seems to have great support/cushioning, but it's not for me and I'll be returning it. I ordered the Narrow (AA), but it fits wide like a "regular" and slips on the heel. Aside from being too boxy/wide, the "heel cup" seems more shallow than any other type of shoe I've worn. This may be comfortable to some, but contributed to the heel slipping in my case. If you have a wide foot, you'll probably love it.

I wanted to love these - I walk 15,000+ steps a day and don't mind paying a bit extra for quality shoes. But now I'm stuck with $125 shoes I can't wear. They seemed cushiony at first, but then the arch felt off after I wore them for a few hours. It took me a bit to realize that they ran large in length (although a bit narrow across), which meant that the arch hit in the wrong place and was causing shooting pain in my right foot. But I couldn't return them because I put the box in recycling. I've since tried several different types of orthotics but no luck. So, note to self: hold onto shoe boxes for at least 2 weeks before recycling them. Still love Zappos, though!

As a now size 11.5N, I exclusively wore New Balance for many years. After all, there are only very few manufacturers that make narrow, let alone past size 8. I discovered Asics a few years ago and haven't gone back. I purchased these non-Asics because I was unable to find my size in Asics ANTWHERE. However, these New Balances are not snug enough, especially in the toe box, which was too roomy for me. I have returned the shoes. In the meantime, I did order and receive the only 11.5N sneakers on Zappos -- some Asics - -which, thankfully, were $25 cheaper too. :)

I was so excited to get these shoes. After suffering with shin splints for almost 10 months, these cane highly recommended by my physical therapist. The New Balance brand in general came highly recommended. Not only did these do nothing to alleviate my sore shins, I now have pain in my knees. I went to a sports medicine doctor in February and was told to take 6 weeks off from running outside to give myself plenty of time to rest and recuperate. I trained at the gym and when my shoes arrived I was excited and optimistic about my first outdoor run since February. I was devastated when after only doing 3 miles I was in pain. And what's worse is I can't return these shoes, so I'm stuck with a pair that aren't what I need. My two-star review mostly reflects the lousy return policy. The shoes fit well and feel good, until I do anything more intense than a walk.
