I really wanted to like these shoes and they were comfortable with one exception. Even though they fit well, my socks worked down into the shoes which was beyond annoying. Also the tongue of the shoe slid down and bunched up. I ordered my usual 7.5 wide and the width and length were fine. Still, I decided to try a size 7 to see if I had the same problem and I did. I ordered a different style of New Balance shoes as well as Brooks Adrenaline and did not have this issue with them. It’s just this particular New Balance style. I have large bunions, Morton’s Neuroma, arthritis in my feet, and high arches. These shoes were one of the few that fit with my bunions and other foot problems. I’m disappointed that I had to return them.

I've worn size 9.5 B New Balance running & tennis shoes for as long as I can remember but these were too big. Had to return

I really wanted to like these shoes. The 940v3. They are made well and look good. However, they are just too stiff for me. I put the right shoe on and knew right away they weren't for me. Didn't even take the left shoe out of the box! It rubbed a bone on the side of my foot and had no give. This is just a personal quirk. Otherwise, it would have been OK. A really nice shoe!

I liked these shoes, but didn't love the look of them for what I need, which is just walking shoes. I'm returning them because they don't work for me though. I haven't bought a good pair of walking shoes for a while, and I am having a really hard time finding some. The 940 is made on the SL-2 Last, which matches my foot as far as wide forefoot, narrow heel and high instep. I think these would have worked for my neuroma and plantar fasciitis too. Unfortunately, they were only comfortable on my left foot, which has a "low normal" arch. On my right foot, which has a LOWER arch, the shoe just made my foot ache. I've tried on several styles of the SL-2 and they all hurt my right foot. They feel comfortable initially, although I can feel the arch, and after wearing them around the house for just a bit they make my foot ache. I kept the shoes for a week thinking I'd let my foot rest up since I'd been trying on a lot of shoes, but my foot is fine -- it's the arch in the shoe that just doesn't work with my very low arch foot. I have tried several of the "better brands" and they all hurt my right foot. So sad. I like the New Balance shoes and can't wear them.

I ordered this shoe because my right foot pronates. I am a walker - former runner - and have always (40+ years !) worn NB shoes for stability and also I am an AA width. They aren't the most attractive shoe but so far they are working as I am walking pain free. New Balance - please keep making these shoes !

Better than 990, but still a bit narrower in the toe box than I"m used to for NB. Initially it feels ok and has tons of support, but actually wearing them while working out unfortunately results in pinching at the top.

I really likes the shoe bur my orthotics rocked in them. Also, the shoes are high on my ankle and rubbed painfully on the screw from my ankle repair.

Tried several pairs of shoes looking for an athletic shoe for walking. I have wide feet with a high arch that get narrower back toward the heel (makes it really hard to find shoes). These shoes felt great as soon as I put them on. Good side support for the heel/ankle. The heel does slide a little bit but creative lacing seems to have mitigated the problem. So far they are working great, walking a few miles a day at a moderate pace. They also look nice which is a bonus! Recommend getting a half size larger (8 EE fits my 7.5 EEE foot).
I'd also recommend:
Also like Brooks! They are also my "go to" now that some New Balance styles are too narrow.

I'm wearing this shoe with blue Superfeet and Plastasize foam on top to help with my arch pain. There is plenty of room in the shoe for the inserts, once the removable one that came with the shoe is removed. Comfy, nice toe room, and I like the color combination.

I was told by my Physical Therapist that I needed different sneakers. He said to buy over pronate/stability shoe. My feet hurt almost all the time up until now. I didn't realize that if your shoe can bend in half then you not getting the support you need. I am very happy with my purchase.

Due to problem feet I have to wear sneakers. I've been purchasing NB for a few years and find this particular pair very comfortable, stylish and able to give me the support I need. The toe area seems to be wider than most other sneakers I have purchased.

My second toe is a little long so I needed help with a good fitting running/gym shoe. I went to the Running Store in Boulder, Colo. They fit me with this brand shoe YEARS AGO. The shoe barely showed any wear but was tired of the old color (and wondered about the padding) so I went back to the Running Store. They had the same style and brand but not in colors I wanted. They told me to go to the New Balance store online. Of course I went directly to ZAPPOS!! I found the color combination I liked and ordered a width of WIDE. Yes, my 6.5 size shoe looks a little wide but I need that for my toe. If you don't need wide, order the medium width and it's a good, true fit. Thanks Zappos!

I have run numerous marathons through the years in this model. God bless New balance for finally just changing the v3 number. I remember when these were called NB 856 and all the other numbers they changed them to over the years. Great shoes with great support.

If the shoe had been sized properly, these would have gotten 5 stars overall. Very narrow and very short. I wasn't sure if I would need a half or whole size larger. But oh my, the arch support and cushioning was great.

So close. These almost worked. I wear 7.5 Wide. These are true to size and are on the roomy side. I had to return them because my heel slipped. Tightening the laces did not help. I ordered in black. They look nice and felt super comfortable on my feel. Too bad about the heel slipping.

I like them. They fit even my 11WWWWWW feet well and are comfortable all day, for shopping, hiking, working/commuting OR running. I have two choices: I can get shoes that look like tennis racquets and fit great or I can get stylish, slimmer shoes. These are for comfort, and they're not beautiful (I do love the colours) but that's my feet's fault and I'm glad they accomodate me.

These shoes fit me perfectly. They have great support for my arthritic toe joints and provide enough room in the toe box yet are narrow enough in the arch and heel. I use the extra loop lacing style and it snugs up the heel perfectly for me. The color in the picture is very washed out. These shoes are a true grey with more of a dark coral trim, not the pale peach as shown. I like the real color better then the picture. I will be ordering a second pair in the other color combo.

Felt a drop narrow for a WW but was still OK. Has great arch support, and overall is very comfortable! The more I wear them the more I really like them! I definitely recommend this sneaker!

This is a nice looking shoes but it did not work with my orthotics which are quite thick. The back of the shoe did not have enough depth with my orthotics and so there was slipage at the heel.

Trying to replace 1012s (motion) and these looked and felt very similar. Big toe box, comfy, except the bar (t-beam) isn't like the other rollbars or like the t-beam on the 860s or other styles. It really felt uncomfortable after standing for a few minutes. Didn't think I could walk for long with such a prominent built in orthotic. If you are used to a lot of support for pronation, or have your own orthotic, these will probably be great for you.

I needed a new running shoe since my old ones were not giving the support or comfort they used to. These have a very comfortable interior, very cushy, made me realize how worn out the old ones were. I got them a little larger than I usually wear, a 9.5W, to allow for heavy sport socks, and I still have wiggle room. I have problems with previous foot injury and need good flexion and these work great. There is a little heal slippage, but if I tighten the laces, problem solved. I run dog agility, so sprints, dog walking too, but not really distance running. I saw comments about the white along the rim being a problem, and I get that with my big feet and the white makes my feet look even larger, but with longer loose pants it isn't that bad. I like the contrast to the running surface because it helps visually for my dog to see my feet and the direction I am running... yes, a unique issue most don't worry about.

These are very comfortable straight out of the box. They aren't the most attractive, because they are kind of bulky.
