I bought my first pair I believe it was 2008 I worked in manufacturing on my feet 10-16 hr days also a medic again on my feet a great deal now working 12hrs a day in an ER of a hospital. I couldn't be more happy with these socks. I was skeptical about the price as a clerk recommended them. I wanted comfort and support. These socks give that and then some. My feet never get tired sore hot or cold. I live in Wisconsin enough said. I have 14 pair now the only socks I own. I'm just now replacing my first pairs after about 5-6 yrs of hard use. Thank you smart wool for such a wonderful product.

I am currently deployed in the US Army, serving in the mountain regions of Afghanistan. I had owned these socks prevoious to deployment, and wore them out because I loved them so much. Before I deployed I stocked up on a fresh inventory. So glad I did. I don't do cold, and if my feet are cold, I'm cold - and there's nothing I can do to get warm at that point. These socks are lifesavers. Feet stay warm, dry and comfortable, even in temps as low as -10. If only the rest of our standard issue gear were so good!!

I am a search and rescue officer in the Civil Air Patrol, leading ground search teams and these are now the only socks I wear for missions now. I wear them year round, they keep my feet dry in the summer and warm in the winter. I recommend them to all my team members.

The first long walk I have ever made from St.Bees to Robin Hood Bay ,England and I am well over the half way stage of the 200 mile walk.These socks are perfect and my feet feel like they are in slippers inside my boots. I will always buy these socks from now on,they last three times longer than my other socks..

The Trekking sock is the best sock I ever had. I am a hotshot firefighter and 16 hours days for two weeks straight are the norm for us. When I upgraded to the Trekking socks from a different store brand I could really feel the difference. Pretty much like trading in your Geo Metro for an Escalade. Really, Really comfortable. I wear them together with the Smartwool liner socks and I dont travel without this combo anymore. Highly reccomended

SmartWool makes the best hiking socks, period, and are the only socks I wear when hiking and backpacking. They provide superior cushioning and comfort, even when trekking in the backcountry for several days in the same pair. Just like Seinfeld's Elaine in her Himalayan Walking Boots, my feet are resilient after a long day on the trail because of my SmartWool hiking socks!

I am in the military and needed new socks for work. I picked up a couple pairs of these just to try them out. I was amazed at the quality difference between these and my other socks. The smartwool socks are the most comfortable socks I have ever owned. I have had them now for a few months and I am impressed with how well they are made. They are a must have.

I've never cared or thought much about socks, until my wife got me a couple of pairs of these a while back. I have to say my feet have never been so happy. We live in Southern California, and I thought that wool socks would make my feet way too hot in a warm climate - but these keep my feet cooler than any polyester or cotton sock every has. They're incredibly comfortable, cool when they need to be cool, and warm when they need to warm. Until these, I'd always just bought socks like... well... like they were all the same. I've never been happier to be proven wrong, and love, love, love these socks.

I have searched high and low for the perfect warm pair of socks. I found warm ones but, they were too thick. I found thinner ones but they were not warm enough. These are just right! I have had my first pair for over 2 years now and they are showing almost no sign of wear. I asked for 2 more paris for Christmas and plan to keep adding more to my collection. I will never buy another brand of socks again. I wore them horseback riding in the mountains last weekend and my toes were toasty warm while everyone else's froze!

After suffering through winter after winter in Buffalo with frozen, wet feet, I changed over to Smartwool socks a few years ago and could not be happier. They last forever, and consistently keep your feet dry, cushioned, and warm. I got rid of all my cotton socks and now only wear Smartwool. My feet are MUCH happier.

I have been wearing my first pair of Hike Medium Crews for 10 years! I wear these all the time; running, working, kayaking, chores. Summer or Winter. Anything and everything I do is in a pair of Hike Medium Crews. They are always the right temperature. They look like they would be too warm for summer days, but they regulate the temperature perfectly. They are not too warm on hot days, in fact they keep my feet cool and dry. They allow my feet to breathe and I love them for it. Please note: I am a SmartWool employee, but I have only been an employee for three years and I have been wearing these socks for ten.

I've got 10 pairs of these socks. I've had some pairs for over five years. They've been on my feet, all around the world, in all kinds of climates. I've worn them in 130 degree deserts and 4 degree snow storms. I wear these socks with my Army boots and many different pairs of civilian hiking boots. Wash them inside out to keep the pile fluffy and they'll last you years.

I have worn these socks while being on my feet all day on concrete. They provided plenty of cushion and kept me from just wanting to get off my feet. I look forward to an upcoming day of hiking.

Hi , I wear wool socks every day, I am a service technician and wear work boots.years ago I gave up cotton and exclusively use wool. So far so good they also worked well on a hiking trip to Utah.

I love the classic medium hikers. I'm wearing some that are 10 years old. I just ordered 2 pair and they look the same, but the lining is different. I have several pairs that are not the classic hikers. My toe nails snag the lining threads in these no matter how carefully I trim my nails. I'm hoping the new lining is not like this.

Ordered thickest sock available. But sock no thick than previous Smart Wool socks hence the 4 star and not 5.

These are really warm and padded. They are stylistically neutral. They are very padded and make my boots a little tight but I'm happy to have them when walking around on extremely cold Minnesota days.

Love the material and the cushioning . They just need to be a tad longer and more snug at the foot.

If you are in the market for something with a higher wool %, Check out both the Trekking Heavy Crew sock (70% wool) as well as the PhD Outdoor Heavy Crew (73%). Also the Mountaineering Extra Heavy (74%). Granted these will be thicker than the Medium Crew above.

product is great; I am 74" tall and 240 lbs so cushioning is great; signed up to buy 5 pairs and get 6th free and still waiting for 6th pair

Is now my go-to winter sock (Minnesota), as well as onboard our sailboat in other than hot weather.

SmartWool socks don't seem to be as well made as before. Maybe the material is the same but the thread count seems lower than before.
