Tried these on at a local store to check sizing. I can't believe that Altra seems bent on going more and more narrow in the forefront & toes, so utterly disappointing. These new Lone Peaks are significantly narrower in the forefront & towbox than all the previous Lone Peaks. In addition they've added some plastic and stitching ont he sides at the forefront, making them even tighter.
I think Altra is losing its early faithful following. I've heard many people with the same complaint. We can find fashionable running shoes in most any other brand. The reason we liked Altras was for the wide forefront & toebox, while still fitting snug in heel and instep. Sooo bummed...

Ahhhhhh! I am in my early 60's, used to run, used to play racquetball, currently walk on sidewalks a LOT, and pace while I teach. I also do dog agility, which can be hard on feet. I have a bone spur, have had plantar fascitis, arthritis, etc. After a weekend of agility with 12 runs in 2 days, my feet were screaming so I looked for new shoes. A friend recommended these and they are the best shoe I have ever worn. I am picky so that means a lot. I have used them in on trial (6 runs total) and agility class and they are great. My feet feel good and the traction works well in a dirt arena. I am ready to purchase another pair for pavement walking.

Love this shoe! I wore the Lone Peak 2.5's and although super comfortable, for trail running they were a little bit sloppy in the midfoot and heel. This update (Lone Peak 3.0) has been incredible. I still feel the comfort of the roomy toe box but I feel much more secure in the shoe now. I took these out of the box and went 14 technical miles and had no issues. Most comfortable shoe ever. The colors are awesome and aesthetically the shoe looks great. I've gotten so many compliments already! Way to go Altra!

I just returned from a 4 week trip to France, walking on average 20,000 steps per day. This is about my 6th pair of Altras. I got the Lone Peak boot over the winter and found it really comfortable after a bad bout of Plantar Fasciitis during the fall. I had absolutely no foot pain or discomfort this trip which included museums and cobblestones in Paris to rocky trails in Brittany.
I did have to size up to a 12 in the shoe altho I am comfortable in the 11 in the boot. If you are looking for minimalist, Altra has gone away from this with this shoe as there is arch support and a thick sole. It is a very different shoe from my first Lone Peaks in 2013. They are wide enough to accommodate my foot comfortably with Injinji toe socks and Correct Toes toe spacers. I do have to do an alternate lacing pattern(shown on the Altra website) on one shoe to get it tight enough around my narrow heel.
I always travel with MELT Method balls to roll my feet in case I feel PF flaring up but did not have to use them at all during this trip.
These shoes were perfect for my needs. They are porous, as I found when I walked on a beach in them and gathered a lot of grit in my shoes.

Quality shoe, well thought out design. Not a cheaped out version of a good idea, like so many shoes seem to be. I wish I had tried these sooner, but avoided the zero drop because I know a couple people who screwed their knees up with zero drop shoes, plus, I tried the original Hoka Clifton a few years ago, and they were overly cushioned, clunky, and caused me knee problems. I think what's different about this shoe is....although it is zero drop, it is NOT minimalist in any way. The cushioning is awesome! Also, the structure of the shoe is perfect for a neutral, slight overpronator.(even though the description does say neutral/underpronator) It isn't overly structured where it will cause mechanics issues. It's just....perfect. It feels like a supportive hug, not a hard structure to screw with my feet. And, the wide toebox...aaahhh....what a dream. Due to a previous foot surgery, the interior part of my big toe often touches the inner side of the toebox, and it's just not good. This is a non-issue with the Lone Peak. I wear a size 8M street shoe, and 9M in running shoes usually. 9M in this shoe is perfect. Another thing, I've got a big plantar fasciitis flareup right now, and usually some heel elevation is all that's recommended, and I've gone along with it. But, I started thinking about how the calf needs to be stretched, and decided to try these. No problem at all, and actually a comfortable help. I had tried the Paradigm previously and didn't like them at all, returned them. But these, and the Torin are amazing shoes. The company clearly knows and cares about what they're providing. I love the "purple" color, which is mostly charcoal. Really nice.

Altra has impressed me yet again with these shoes. They still fit true-to-foot-shape, and they have added some solid reinforcement along the seams in the form of a fabric overlay. These have held up to scree, talus, trail, off trail, and Leadville with no sign of stopping. The tread is gritty as normal, and the shoe may have gotten slightly softer... perhaps I was just used to my flattened 800+ mile LP2s (which were still going strong). Overall, another great release from Altra. I'm looking forward to many more mountains and races in these.

I wore my Eccos for over 10 years, and then it was time for a new pair of walking/hiking shoes. I tried several pairs, and these are by far the most comfortable, I think the most comfortable sneaker I have ever worn. I put them on and immediately went for a 4 mile hike, and they were great. Walked through some puddles, and they are not waterproof, but are a really comfy and great shoe! I love how lightweight they are also.

This is the 5th pair of Altras I have owned. I really like the Lone Peak. These shoes are comfy out of the box, don't need breaking in and are good on trails. I have wide feet, the toe box on this is awesome, wide enough to fit my wide feet.

I have several issues and challenges with my feet and find it difficult to find comfortable shoes with a wide toe box and stable sole. I have three pairs of Altra sneakers and all are the most comfortable shoes I have and will buy it again and again.

Finally found a comfy pair of shoes after months of buying and trying...and failing. After 3 pregnancies my feet grew and widened each time, then I also needed extra toe room and ball cushioning. This shoe finally fit that bill. Not the cutest shoe, but it'll do.

I bought this shoe in purple hoping it will be my all-purpose shoe when I travel abroad. My requirements were that the shoe would be subdued in color, not too bulky, comfortable to wear all day whether on smooth surface, or trails. I haven't taken it abroad yet, but I have been testing the shoe by wearing it to the gym, shopping, and hiking locally. So far, the shoe has lived up to my expectations.
I usually wear a size 8 1/2 M shoe (Asics) to compensate for a slightly wider foot, but because of the wider toe box, size 8 fits me perfectly, which is opposite of what a lot of reviewers have reported.

This is the third pair of Altras that I bought. I will never buy another brand of walking shoes. The wide toe area fit my feet perfectly. Several of my friends have switched to Altra after they saw mine and I bragged about their comfort. You will never be sorry if you purchase these shoes, especially if your feet run wide like mine do.

I have a wide foot and narrow heel. The lone peak fits than any shoe in its category. I have a Morton's neuroma and the wide toe fit prevents the nerve squeeze from happening. I love the color also.

Hiked 410 miles of the Colorado Trail with the Lonepeak 2.5. NO blisters. I am equally happy with the 3.0. Plenty of toe room, with a sturdier upper. Another great, light hiking shoe.

Excellent shoes! Very comfortable and a thicker shoe for more warmth then some of the other Altra shoes. I prefer to wear these all the time now. As usual, Altra shoes are the best for my feet - I've worn them before and after multiple bunionectomies and my feet have never been squashed.

I bought a pair of these for my wife. She is an occasional runner, but mostly does a lot of walking and carrying our little boy.
I wanted to get these, due to the increased traction they have so she would not slip on the ice and snow in the Winter.
She was not sure if she liked them at first, but after a couple of weeks of continually asking her feedback, she said that she "Loved them!"
We go for short runs together in the evening, and she says she likes them a lot, which makes me happy.

By far my favorite trail shoe. I just wore these to Ragnar Trail AZ and they were awesome. Can handle any terrain and just enough cushion for sharp rocks. Go up about half a size from your traditional running shoe size. I wear an 8 in my street running shoes so I went to 8.5 in these and they're a perfect fit.

My toes are very happy to have found an athletic shoe that feels like a Birkenstock! Initially I thought they were too big, but it was just my toes being shy to spread out from their typically cramped athletic shoe position.

After numerous surgeries on my knee and hip from running, it has been hard to find a shoe that checks all the boxes and allows me to run pain free. I can definitely say that I have found it! This shoe is the perfect balance of light weight and supportive, and almost feels like it molds to my foot throughout my run. It is honestly the most comfortable running shoe I have ever worn, and I have zero pain or discomfort, which is very rare for me. I definitely would recommend it to others looking for a great shoe.

I like the wide toe box of this shoe. I use it for day hiking and just wearing around. I've got maybe 100-150 miles of hiking on them, and the sole is delaminating badly from the shoe. It started at the toe and progressed towards the rear. The shoe has not seen heavy use. I contacted Altra. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to it the shoe was one week out of warranty and the only remedy they offered was to sell me a new pair of shoes at a discount. The shoe had obviously failed well within the warranty period. This is a company that doesn't stand behind it's products. Buyer beware.

This is my first try at Altra, and I just love the shoe -- except for the tall heel cup that is too high and would rub/blister. (I didn't reduce the comfort rating since other folks might be fine with it and it seems like an amazing shoe otherwise.) I wear an 8.5 and ordered my standard 9 in athletic shoes, and it fit well. Now off to see if I can find an Altra without that tall heel cup...

This is the 6th pair (maybe even more) of Altra's that I have owned. They are super comfy, don't need to be broken in and have a wide to box. I have wide feet so this is especially helpful for me. I like the lone peak for hiking!

LOVE! I had the previous version of this shoe and it was water resistant, which was great for winter and spring walks, and they still looked great, other than the tread being worn after about 400 miles. Sooo I got these, and I love them! I use my own orthotics in them and they fit perfectly. These are light with good grip, laces tie well and stay in place. And they're squishy and leave plenty of room for my toes without being too wide in the heel. I have style a 4 because, although it can't really be helped because of how they're designed, they do look big on my feet.

I love this shoe, surprisingly better than the LP 2. They're light and breathable and comfy, as well as grippy. The laces hold well and I love the roomy toe. I plan on using them for hiking and walking mostly.

WOW, these are comfortable. Plan on using them to hike in (not run) but needed a wide toe box due to morton's neuroma/bunion. These will be new go to brand of trail shoe. Wish they were less money but....
