i got these for a hiking trip to italy. wore them once on a long walk locally. thank goodness i did. i have a terrible bunion so i need a wide forefoot. this definitely had that but the ankle area was so big my foot kept slipping out. i got a terrible blister and my feet were killing me. i ordered a half size smaller than i normally take. just bad.

I don't usually write scathing reviews because tastes differ. But this is an exception: These shoes are horrible. They feel cheap and floppy and there's absolutely no cushioning and no support. I wanted shoes with a wide toe box and the toe box is definitely wide. That's the only part of the product description that is accurate.

Pay attention to that part of the description that says "Altra Zero Drop recommends that those new to natural running and zero-drop footwear transition slowly by wearing these on shorter runs and gradually building up to regular mileage." Zero-drop shoes may not be for you if you've never worn them before. I tried, like they say, to build up slowly, but these shoes never really got comfortable. My back hurt while wearing them and the front half of my foot felt like I was walking on nails. They are, I'm sure, great shoes for some. Just not for me.
