I have wanted these iconic outdoorsman boots for a very, very long time. Pretty desperately, actually. But I never could find them in stores, and/or didn't have what they cost to spend on new hiking boots. I set out to get new boots for my first hunting tripI was looking at the Sharptail Snake Boots Danner makes, when I remembered that the Mountain Light boots existed. I wrestled with which boot to go with ad-nauseam, and ultimately concluded that spending a little more on the Mountain Lights was likely the best and most logical choice. Went to REI to try them on this morning, and didn't want to take them off after trying them on so I've been wearing them ever since. Now, I'm not a navy SEAL nor anything terribly exciting currently, but I was a boyscout and did Search and Rescue field courses in high school, grew up rock climbing and hiking, sailing, camping, kayaking, fishing, and canoeing, and attended wilderness programs. These are what you want in the field. Take care of them and they will take care of you. They have timeless style, with up-to-date enhancements, which mean you'll want to wear them to do just about anything shy of a suit-and-tie event, or swimming. Maybe not your best option for mountain climbing with ropes, but they are certainly up to that task. I had very high expectations for these boots. I genuinely didn't think they were likely to live up to them. They exceeded my expectations in comfort, style, fit and quality already. I love boots, and have had a ton. These may well be the last hiking boots I ever buy, and I'm only 35. As soon as they hit your feet you'll know what all the hype is about.

I've had these boots for about 5 years now and hiked a lot of miles in them. I finished the NH 48 4,000 footers list wearing these. The northern presidential range in NH is extremely rocky and very abrasive to boots. My boots definitely show the wear from that terrain, but they're still going strong. I wore them for many miles with no insole, and they were never comfortable, they caused a lot of pain for my feet even after hitting the 100 mile mark in them. I have since added a pair of superfeet blue insoles and that has definitely made them more comfortable for me. For anyone thinking about buying these: they are expensive, they are heavy, they will never be as comfortable as hiking shoes or modern hiking boots, but they are extremely durable, they are classic, and they protect your feet like almost nothing else I've worn. If you carry a heavy pack, these boots pair very well with that. They are old School boots in every sense. I frequently hike with a fully loaded external frame pack, so these boots pair well with it. I've really liked owning these despite some comfort hiccups. I can't imagine ever wearing them out. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a tough boot that will protect your feet. As long as you know that these are heavy and really a throwback in terms of how they're built you can't go wrong.

I have extra wide feet, usually wear 4E and these were still comfortable, durable, great boots for my hikes in the Dolomites. Stable on loose gravel as well!

Hands down the best boots I have ever purchased! The fit is slightly large so I ordered down 1/2 size and they fit perfectly. Excellent comfort even after being on feet for extended periods. Cant wait to get them on some hiking trails! Thanks Danner!

I bought these boots about a year ago and had only had a chance to wear them around the office a little and on one 7 mile hike several months ago. Last week I took them on a three day hike through the mountains and was beyond pleased. I had no blisters, really no foot issues at all. The traction was great over all surfaces. I have spent the last 20 years with a high end, full leather boot that always gave me blisters until my feet had time to toughen up (and at this stage of life, they never get to toughen up). I thought it was just how my feet were shaped and boots would always be like that. This fit was a revelation.

They are built with the same quality I remember of the Mountain Lights. But I have two issues I've not noticed before: 1) I've been wearing Danner boots for nearly 40 years. This is the first time I've gotten blisters from any of them, and I only walked for one mile. 2) the tongue on one boot doesn't fold right, and it bunches a bit instead of smoothing down.

Very nice boots. I would recommend trying them on in the store to get the right size for you. I order my shoes size and they are a little too long. The width is good but I would recommend a half size down.

I've wanted a pair of Mountain Light Cascade Clovis' since I was in college 45 years ago. Finally got them. I feel foolish for having waited so long. I wear an 11 D, ordered the 11EE. The fit is perfect. Slight rub on my heels for the first few days. Now they feel and look great. The quality of materials, and construction...all top notch. Bravo "Danner"! Well done.
