I wear this on a daily basis in the cold Western NY weather. Keeps the wind out really well. My first impression was that something this thin could not be warm, but it was extremely warm and comfortable.
There are 2 things I don't care for, but they definitely wouldn't keep me from buying this again. First, it really lacks extra pockets. Each layer only has the front hand pockets. Disappointed there were no inner pockets or breast pockets. Second, when wearing a thick sweater the sleeves can get a little tight.
Pros definitely outweigh the cons on this jacket. I love it!!!

It's been warm in ny over the past few weeks but it's kept me warm in 40-50 degree temps. If i were to nit pick the sleeves feel a bit long. Overall a well made jacket. Can't wait to test in the snow

Love the two in one idea but I did think it would be thicker.... Both are thin and doesn't seem to make much of a difference if you are using one or the other or both.

I use this everytime the temp drops below 30F. It is light, breathable and waterproof. Perfect for the price.

Great value for the price. The liner and the shell are both great garments on their own. Together they make for a great winter weather coat.. Very pleased. Just wish there were more pockets.

not a bad product for its price when it is on 40% discount! it is warm, but the hard shell's texture is a little too hard...

This would be great for skiing but not an everyday jacket for me

I was looking to replace my worn out winter coat. This was advertised as warmest, waterproof, windproof and heavyweight. It is certainly not warmest nor heavyweight.
If I was looking for a light spring jacket. This would work but I was led to believe it was the warmest.
I would not have perches it, if I had known.

The hood is too large. I guess designed to go over a helmet or another hat but too big to be worn alone.

Bought this jacket for myself while visiting the USA Loved the jacket, but the wrist Velcro holders did not hold at all. Only had it a week and couldn't bear it anymore with the flapping Velcro wrist fasteners, so have had to exchange it with a different style as the jacket is not available in the uk gutted. hope the 3-1 thermoball is better.

I bought this in hopes of replacing my Denali zipin. It's really light, however the color is not exactly what I'd describe as Cardinal Red. It's more like a Crimson Tide Alabama Red.

The jacket is not really warm for the dead of winter, great for fall or spring. The liner bunches up a bit when the jacket comes on / off. On the pro side the jacket fits well, is comfortable and waterproof. If you a re looking for a winter jacket this isn't it.

I like the fleece but not so much the shell. I got the XXL and it fits great. I find the shel buldges in the belling making your belly look plus sized lol. I'm 6'6 and wear 50-52 chest, 36/36 1/2 sleeve length and it fits good.
Just a hint: I just got the Eddie Bauer All-Mountain Shell Jacket in XL Tall and it zippers with the fleece to this jacket perfectly. The Eddie and this NF fleece both have button snaps at the wrists but you can hook them and theres no buldge at your wrist. I'm pumped! :) .....Also the Eddie looks more tailored.

I so wanted this jacket to work out. The dijon color (with blue fleece) is just gorgeous. But, alas, the jacket is just too big (Small). I'm 5'7" and ~120 lbs. The small size looks gargantuan. I'll be returning mine...I wish they made an XS.

I have to return it because the sleeve was too long, his height is 5ft and weight 125. It said on the size chart small fits but when he tried it on its too long. I love how soft and lightweight it is. I hope there's a size xs. I think this size is for tall people only.

Not a good jacket for winter... The wind cuts through this jacket ridiculously easy. The liner/fleece inside is incredibly tight compared to the rest of the jacket, and the darn thing doesn't breathe. When I was walking to the Subway station in 45-degree weather the wind would cut through and send a chill through the jacket like you've never known. And when I stand on the subway platform the amount of heat buildup is so intense I have to practically take the jacket off to get any reprieve.
This would maybe be good for light hiking through the woods in 60-degree weather, but I would certainly disqualify this as any sort of winter jacket. Actually, if you live in LA this is probably a good winter jacket. That's about it.

So I alternate between products from North Face, Marmot, Patagonia and Arc'teryx for my outdoor and traveling needs. I travel quite frequently and bought this jacket for my trip to Iceland. The reason I bought this jacket was for something that was very warm, waterproof, windproof, and easily packed in a carry on backpack (I very rarely check bags traveling). My background includes being a medic in the military, avid traveler, wild land firefighter, caver, and backpacker, so you understand where I come from for comfort and performance.
Pros: light, warm, compressible, waterproof, windproof. Held up well to Iceland's harsh November storms.
Cons: The Velcro on the wrists are weak and don't hold very well. Furthermore, the buttons that hold the inner lining to the outer shell are weak as well and you will have them pop frequently and the sleeve coming out when you take it off, leading to a major inconvenience of having to feed it through prior to next wear. The sun-visor on the hood when I used it, kept on occluding my vision and I had to flip it up out of my eyesight. Again, very minor but lead to a high end product making me look funny in pictures.
Would I recommend this product to my friends? As of right now I would say no. The price is too high to have such minor details overlooked. But, if they chose to fix those issues I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for something to hold up to extreme conditions. I am all about comfort in the extreme weather now.

Great style but a few cons:
1. Not made for cold weather. Any weather below 10c / 50F and you'll be an ice cube in no time
2. Lack of armpit zippers
3. I usually wear L jackets, but this one is definitely too big for me, esp. the arms.

Regular fit medium still seems a bit baggy, arms are especially loose and a little long (note: I'm 6'1" 165, mediums usually run on the smaller side for me). Not sure if "slim fit" styles fit any differently; wasn't an option for this jacket.
No chance to wear in inclement weather yet, but seemed toasty when I put it on. Shell is waterproof and seems windproof (although it wasn't that windy when I tested it).

I was really excited when I received this jacket. I love the way it looks, and the quality is great, but the fit was all wrong. The sleeves on the inner jacket are too long, and it's a total lint magnet. Conversely, the sleeves on the outer jacket are a bit too short, and there is definitely restricted movement in the shoulder areas. I seriously considered returning it, but decided that maybe it'll stretch out. The movement has become less restrictive over time, however for the VERY high price point of over two hundred dollars, the product should be perfect, but it wasn't. If I do buy a North Face product again, I'll definitely be going to the store to try it on first.
