I bought this product for a backpacking trip through Europe and it was perfect. At first I was a little apprehensive because it was heavier and bulkier than I anticipated but it ended up being exactly what I needed.

We shopped many places before deciding on this coat from North Face and we couldn't be happier!! Love that it is so warm, love how the hood comes down just far enough so it blocks the wind and snow! Love the pockets, there is a perfect amt for phone, gloves, and inside for my sons wallet! and we love the look, it will be perfect for college, he will fit right in!
I'd also recommend:

This coat is sooooo warm and perfect for the winters!!! I love my coat because I can break it down to either a spring or fall jacket and combine it for the winter.

It's true that it seems to be too small, but in reality unless your using it in extreme sports the fit feels good. I think it adds to the warmth factor. There is no need to add layers because the coat does what its supposed to do; keep you warm.Been eyeing this jacket for a long time and my wife finally got all the hints I've been leaving everywhere and purchased it for me and I absolutely love it. Remember the fit "feels" tight, but it's not too small.

Purchased this coat for myself. I am 6' 3" and 210, ordered the XL and it fit great. The coat is very warm and breaks the wind and sheds the snow very well. I like the fact it has several zippered pockets to secure my phone, gloves, etc. good purchase.

Very stylish. Gray gray on gray has a sharp look. Warm and dry. Very heavy. Good for boarding but never recommend trying to run or cycle in it. It's built for the slopes.

I like the warmth and weight of the liner. It's warmer and lighter than a sweater-type or fleece liner. The liner is warm enough by itself to 35 degrees. The shell's main zipper is heavy-duty plastic instead of nylon coil. Nylon coil zippers on the shell's main zipper wear out quickly. The negative aspects of the jacket is that there isn't an extension ribbon on the shell's main zipper. It's of that there are extension ribbons on the side pockets and and armpit zippers and goggle lens cloth pocket. The medium fit nicely in my torso but was too snug in the shoulders while wearing a thick fleece sweater. The large fit in the shoulders but the torso was a little too big and the sleeves are s little too long for a 5'11" x 165 lbs. man.

This is an overall good 3-in-1 Triclimate coat. I've worn it in all three configurations and believe it to be a very well built product. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because this coat picks up EVERYTHING. Perhaps it is due to the color I chose. I bought the TNF Black/Grey Asphalt coat. It was the only color that I remotely liked. I truly love North Face products but they do make some pretty "loud" colored products that leaves me wondering who would purchase such a color. LOL!!

Great thing about it is the inner zip out coat. It's super warm on its own.

Definitely a good layering piece, though the liner did not add as much warmth as I was hoping for. But with that said, this IS a layering piece that is intended to be used while skiing/riding. With a base layer and a hoodie you'll be good to go. If you're looking for a jacket to keep you warm with just a button up or light shirt, this is not the jacket for you. Seems to be sufficiently wind and waterproof, definitely breathable with more venting than you can shake a stick at. The fit is awesome. I'm 6'4" and I have a tough time finding winter jackets with long enough sleeves that are not boxy in the torso. This jacket fits great in both areas.

The jacket does not stand up to new York city winters well the shell is a good texture but the hood has no insulation, if waiting at a bus stop def not the jacket the inner insulation is not down filled.

Sleeves are definitely to long for any normal human being and the sleeve cuff adjustments are useless because they're made for someone with ginormous wrists. You can velcro it further but if you put your hands in the pockets the velcro sticks to the pocket lining and comes loose. Zippers are also not very good, especially on the inner jacket. Very warm and versatile though. A simple fix to the above and it would be perfect.

Got this as a gift to replace a 15 year old more technical Gore-Tex North Face shell so a little bit of a down grade for me. I typically stay away from all-in-one jackets, but this one has looks and features of more expensive ski jackets with a more reasonable price, the insulated liner was a bonus. I like the pit zips, helmet compatibility and cinches on waist. I'm 5'6" and struggled to find a jacket with shorter sleeve length, but this one fit perfect. The secure-zip wrist pocket with goggle wipe seems a little gimmicky, might use for chap stick or cash. The insulating liner jacket is not that great, but that's not why I bought the jacket and it's good enough for fair skiing conditions. I would trade it out for a down puffer for colder weather. I have two kids under 3 years old so I don't get to ski much right now, but I recommend this as a an on piste ski jacket. I would recommend upgrading to a more expensive and durable jacket for back country or more technical adventures.

My boyfriend has very wide broad shoulders and back. It's been an extreme challenge trying to find a jacket to fit his back and biceps. Most xxl were designed for height not girth. I was encouraged when I read the reviews but disappointed when he tried it on.

I'm 5'11, and wear a large. The fit is good around the chest and shoulders, but the jacket itself is too long. To put my hands in the pockets, I have to extend them down completely. It's a little awkward. I would not buy this jacket again for that reason. I tried on a couple of other jackets that were size large, and they fit very well. But I wanted this jacket, and was not able to find one to try on.
